The HIGHLY Anticipated Debut of Neil Dorsey!! MLB the Show 24 Draft Only Rockies Franchise E.23

- The Colorado Rockies are stuck in a bad spot. In a division they've never won in their 30 year history and it's not getting any easier. The Dodgers have Shohei and others with an endless payroll, the Diamondbacks just won the NL and have a young team only getting better, and the Padres have major star power themselves.
So it's time to try something completely new to try and overcome these odds: A Draft Only Rebuild.
A staple of the channel, the Draft Only Rebuild challenges us to build the team up using only the Rookie and Rule 5 drafts after we tear down the ENTIRE 40 man roster after the first season.
One major twist added for this year: Trades. I am allowing 3 trades in this series, but only for prospects, and only for one prospect per trade. So we will need to time them right and make sure they hit to ensure we don't waste them.
I am EXTREMELY excited for this project, and if you are too, PLEASE hit the like button on the video and Subscribe to the channel if you haven't already.
Drop any comments about suggestions for the series, I read them all and take all suggestions into consideration. - Hry
I beg of you leave him in the minors for 2 years. Yes you may be sacrificing a good bat that’s ready for the show but the team just isn’t there around him and morello, if anything I’d continue to use the next year or two as tank years to get more prospects to build around
Somewhere in the 1-3 years range seems like the move.
Ya but I find the AI automatically makes call ups for me that I don’t want them to make in September I think when I redo my draft only save I’ll only call up guys who aren’t prospects
Dorsey will be MLB ready as a hitter after one season, but he needs 2 full years in the minors as a pitcher, especially pitching at Coors.
Yeah 2 years is at least how long he needs to develop pitching for sure.
Late season call up next year, at the earliest. His bat will always be there, but to really capitalize on his Two-Way, he needs some time to settle down his pitch. Oh, if only he picked up submarine pitching along the way.....
Extreme oppo is kinda crazy
Yeah not very accustomed to it
Niel Dorsey hyping me up with that INTRO SOONG RAAAAAAH
Great player deserves an intro
maybe change hitting slightly from extreme opposite to opposite
I could see doing that at some point.
Imo I don’t really like the fact there’s an “extreme” pull/oppo hitter tendency cuz I feel like at that point there should be a foul ball per x number of at bats sort of stat. Not to mention with how the sim engine works I’ve noticed sometimes players don’t hit as well compared to regular pull/oppo
I still haven’t figured out what each state belongs to each region
call him up asap....long relief as a pitcher, every day hitter
I don't want him as a reliever.
We already have so many rising star pitchers so I think we need a hitter he gonna be the 3rd big shot hitter
I think we're set up pretty well both pitching and pos. players which just puts us in position to take BPA, which is always nice.
this is what we been waiting for
Me too haha
I agree with ur top 3 draft needs although imo it’s very important to make that leadoff type guy a cf or at least an outfielder as that’s the weakest part of ur team hands down especially long term. The lefty pitcher is second priority and than I would say a shutdown closer before 1b cus 1b is easy to find and u already have a cple guys who could fill that role rn and for the next few years. U can pretty much plug in anyone at 1b if u had to but I like where ur thought process is!! This series is getting good and ur really killing it fiend
I’m still very high on Do and Herrera in the outfield. Veen we will have to see what he becomes.
Gotta change his body type from heavy to buff or normal
If he pitches well it makes all the sense to call him up around August as Dorsey seems league average right now with a good bat just cannot field all that well, I'd even attempt to place him in the pen before throwing him to the wolves as a starter. Not gonna lie I like the fact Dorsey hits it the other way and extreme opposite is rare and would set him apart even if it's not what we're used to seeing, think of all the oppo tacos he can get the fans! lol
I don't really want Dorsey in the bullpen if I can help it. But we will have to see what happens. I also like the opposite tendency with him. If I change it at all it'd just be from extreme opposite to opposite, I wouldn't do any more than that.
He is a 3B guy ranked 10 in the draft class
I say 1 year in the minors is good for Dorsey, his per9s are already pretty good but a little development will be nice
That's probably the earliest I could see him coming up.
2 yrs minimum
2 years for pitching development. He will come in as a decent #4/#5 starter and an absolute BEAST hitter to win all the awards.
U see how slow ur rf guy was going after that ball he missed at the wall lol. Dude was straight jogging for it like it was an easy pop out and if he was running he would of got there w plenty of time smh
Yeah that was a weird play
Idk how it works but I recall u saying if vision is 5 pts higher than discipline it could be a generational player? Vance Palma has 43-67 vision and 38-62 discipline! Does that mean he’s generational or did I misunderstand
That is correct but he would be mlb rank 1 if he was generational
Is Dorsey an Extreme Opposite hitter? Seems like every time he hits the ball it goes opposite field if it’s hit hard at all
Yes
Noice!!!
I've been using your scouting method to do my own Draft Only Franchise, and I have been able to find some amazing SPs (since they get scouted as a group), yet my position player scouting is lackluster, and my relievers/closers are not amazing either. Idk if it's just my luck, but it seems that most draft classes have a lot more good pitchers than hitters? Any tips?
Basically you have to take position players in the top 50 if you’re not discovering them. So even if you have a pitcher higher ranked by your scouts if it’s close I’d just go with the position player when available. But it is a bit of luck.
I'd play him DH and closer!
He's definitely gonna be a starter.
@@fiendfranchise yeah just looked at his stamina. Can't wait to see his MLB career
I think he needs to be a starter before he comes up. At least the 5th guy in the rotation. This might mean he will be an absolute BEAST hitter when he does make his MLB debut. P/DH doesn't seem to work when you have a guy in the bullpen (they dont seem to pitch).
Yeah I don't plan on ever making him LR. The question is whether to bring him up earlier and have him pitch through some early struggles in that 5th spot.
@@fiendfranchise man, that is a hard choice. I wish it was more clear the differences between A/AA/AAA/MLB as far as progression and stat increases (unless I'm just dumb).
@@paulmd7747 Yeah it's not super clear to me either there probably is some formula out there though
I have a lefty in my giants save had him in double A for a season then gave him spring and he is in the mlb the AI ruined the progression for him on me though
You have to have your 3 rosters set before the end of spring training if you don’t want the game to set it for you. Same for September.
@@fiendfranchise I dunno how to set the lineups though
@@tubby1366 you don't have to set the lineups, just the rosters. (setting lineups is on the far left circle in the top right of the main screen in franchise mode)
@@fiendfranchise as long as I have 26 players at each level the Ai won’t do anything?
@@tubby1366 as long as you have the correct number of pitchers and position players (easiest to go 13 of each)
He’s already up to a 72 after 6 games…. 👀
Off to a great start!
I think you leave Dorsey in the minors for a year then bring him up just to develop him to be more well rounded
A year at minimum I'd say.
Please make him normal body stature. Husky looks so weird in the game
I can look into that.
I know I’m about to get roasted, but I have never really been super into baseball so I’m learning! But I started my own draft only save as well. Draft went decent, still learning your scouting method (lowest potential of 82, but entirely pitchers haha, guess I didn’t do a good job with position players). My problem was going to the rule 5 draft, I must have missed something or done something wrong, because all of the prospects I already had are gone after the draft. So my farm system is completely empty except for the guys I just drafted. Please help, I knew my first one would be my practice run, but I don’t even know what I did wrong. Any tips would be much appreciated! Or even a “how to run your own draft only save” video guide.
You still have to sign everyone back who isn't on the 40 man roster, if you're doing it my way. That is on the contract renewal and arbitration screens when the offseason starts.
