Surprisingly unplugging the monitor power cord and plugging it back worked lol. Thank you
Thank you!!!!! I start a work from home job tomorrow and couldn't get the 2nd monitor set up! This worked perfectly!
Hey, how is it going for you with your home job?
I pulled out the power cable and HDMI from monitor and plugged them back in and it works now.
Thanks (I did not have other display cables plugged in)
Bro, u just saved my career today! Thank u wherever you are!
Thank you so much man, all I needed to do was unplug the second monitor!
Good troubleshooting info for newbies Danish!
Well, I just got a new laptop and the extended monitor wasn't happy. Got a black screen with no mouse pointer. I kept re-plugging the HDMI from the laptop end, but only after watching your video, I unplugged it from the monitor side and the monitor came up. Thank you so much for this. However, I am still wondering what made it to work, but at the end, I am happy that my workstation is fit and fine now.
who would've thought that the solution would be to unplug then replug the power supply (i only tried turning the power button on and off)
Thanks a lot
saved me a lot of trouble
My second monitor has gone completely pitch black, but sometimes will come around on its own after a few minutes. But as the days goes by, it does gradually feel worse because it outright refuses to display anything. So unplugging and replugging my second monitor from the monitor itself definitely helped solve this issue.
Thank you for providing a helpful solution.
It doesnt work for me and mine is a new one
Thank you! You're the best, I was already thinking about buying a new monitor
thanks dude! unplugging the monitor worked for me!
You're a legend! This helped me so much i thought my pc was broken you saved me thousands!
im trying to connect my laptop to a monitor through HDMI, and it showed on black screen just like this one. at first it didnt even detect the 2nd monitor. fixed it by manually updating my nvidia driver (using the clean install option). then it detects the 2nd monitor, but still show black. in the end, it was cleaning my laptop's HDMI port that fixed it (just a few strong blow of air to the port)... because this laptop is so dusty. thank you for the help!
1:04 unplug the cable and plug it back in. That is all it took! Thanks so much!
Extend displays worked for me 👍
Thank you man! You saved my day
2 monitors and 1 PC. When I have my screensaver on then moved the mouse, 1 monitor screen went blank. Do I need to keep pulling out the monitor cable and plug back in?
Mine displays a NO SIGNAL on the 2nd monitor when I unplug and plug it back in. I've gone through ALL the standard options you find online, none of them work. Here's something weird though: when I unplug the monitor that doesn't turn on and plug it back in - both monitors turn off and then come back on and work fine. What does that mean?
have you fixed it yet
That means your power is bout to be fucked
I'm a computer tech and I still don't have the answer for anyone. Clearly OP in the video has a faulty monitor because none of that is the end all cure. Some computers just lack the ability to process more than what it is able to, ie another video output with a computer with low cores is going to have problems. Not always, but most of the time.
I had a similar issue after simply drawing a line in windows picture editor (yeah idk), but if I put something full screen on the monitor(1) with issues, it worked fine. Also it had the ability to hide the programs behind the black screen, yet if I hovered over the program in the taskbar to highlight it I could see it as if it was full screen, and interact with them. Monitor 2 worked fine.
I did unplug and plug the cable (displayport) and change up inputs on monitor 1 through physical buttons, none of which worked (by itself).
The solution somehow turned out to be that I had to open a full screen program (any, I just used a random game) to be able to see the screen, then a tab over to see the taskbar over full screen. Then I had to drag the taskbar that was located on monitor 1 that had all the program icons (what he clicked on 2:10), over to monitor 2, which does not have those small icons. This solved it to me, but I have no idea what the logic behind such a bug could be.
I suppose my problem was more of a software issue instead of cables, but I'll leave this comment in case it might help someone that find this video through the same keywords I used :)
bro I tried the fullscreen thing and it worked what the heck-
Glad someone found my random method of figuring out a weird bug useful :)
Thank you so much my friend! Just saved me going out and buying a new TV! :-)
Would be great if you make troubleshooting videos that a helpdesk newbie would need ...in all situations .. kassam these videos help
Hello Afakh, please check playlist we have many troubleshooting videos under different troubleshooting playlists thanks

On your left screen, is that a picture of Innsbruck, Austria?
This helped me THANK YOU
Try changing resolution or switching ports
So i recently got a second monitor from a buddy and someones it boots right up and it works fine, go to sleep after turning off the system next afternoon it doesn't display anything. its ON and i can drag things over to the second monitor but it doesnt display anything (how i know its on its not the same dark black as when there isn't power) this is so frustrating giving the fact that i use it to monitor things and for coding aswell ive swapped out monitors with an very old 12inch monitor and it works fine i dont know if it got hurt or its busy dying please send help xD any advice
(ps i use a vga to hdmi adapter it works fine on the smaller monitor no issues)
thanks in advance
Thank you!
It worked! Thanks!
Saving me dawg, thank you

My Asus gaming monitor has the same issue with HDMI connection too. It's a simple fix, at least for me, just TURN OFF AND ON the monitor, the second monitor will back on again.
thx this helped a lot
thanks man!
One of the backgrounds is gray and the apps don’t show up I was trying to apply a dual wallpaper but it broke
Mine is, my CPU is a company CPU and I restart it. Now that I did it, it's just a blank screen. It needs a second monitor but I don't have that... And I have to buy a GVA converter just so I can connect the hdmi to the cpu- it'll take me a few days and I hate it... 😢 I've got work to do... Is there any way to figure it out... I'm losing hope
But both are black screens...my 1 was in black screen mode while I watch 2...and I cut them both off then later I can back and once I unplug the adapter the 1 comes on but once I plug it in it goes black and 2 still doesn’t come on
Mee too aw
My monitor is not black screen but when I click on an app from the desktop recycle bin opens instead like it keeps reverting back.
Ohhh snap!!! I plugged the TV out , waited 5 seconds. Then it worked!
What was the VGA connected to? Did you have two video cable components connected to the same primary device?
No, two different devices, one is the laptop using HDMI and VGA to desktop thanks
Hello. I have a problem. When I turn on the computer for about 40 minutes, I work on the Internet and everything is fine, after a while the monitor turns off, the screen turns black and the computer works, it means that the monitor is also turned on, the green dot below is turned on, only the monitor turns off and then I have to I have to turn off the computer and turn it on again and everything is ok. If you can tell me what the problem is. Thank you in advance. The computer is AMD FX6300 6CORE AND THE GRAPHICS ARE SAPPHIRE R9 290 4GB
thank you
I can see the secondary screen remotely via teamviewer but at the location its black screen any solution. Secondary screen is the wacom device
i got the same problem :'( ... any help ?
TY
ur the best bro
guys i need help now guys on intel i tried putting my monitor at 144 hz because it was stuck at 120 hz and then a added another resolution on until to 1920 by 1080 to see of i could change it and now when u plug the hdmi into my alptop the laptop screen goes balck and the moitor does too
I tried unplugging and plugging all cables back from my 2nd monitor but it did not make any changes. Does this mean that it is now a hardware issue?
Ok so I noticed a strange thing happening. My monitor only works when i plug in both- the vga, and the hdmi cable. Even if remove one, the display stops working.
I have two outputs from the same cpu going in to the same monitor. What might be the issue here?
@Evan Hughes You can try with two hdmi first. Cant say mate, I am still wondering how it worked for me!
I have the same problem- Did you try the VGA cable as well and did it work?
I followed every My screen won't work on extend display (the others option work) and when i choose a better frequency my screen display black screen with a little horizontal line at the top of the screen. Anyone have a clue for my problem ? (My drivers are up to date and the frequency are 60Hz by default for both of screen,it worked perfectly fine yesterday and i changed the cable for a new one, I tested with a another PC and it worked well)
Bro when I I connect HDMI and then open tv and laptop then opening logo appears on tv then after sometime I it will back to laptop and then I will try to get back screen on tv by using screen resolution option but it is not working.
Plz help plz 😭😭😭

My second mointor is working but when i got to second screen only it shows no optimum mode error
thank you it worked
just solved my problem with a monitor not working on windows nor linux, black screen, swaped monitors and the old one worked, swapped back again the new one blacked out... just removed the power outlet from the monitor waited 5 seconds and voila
I do have a dual screen setup on one machine on has a vga out put and the other has a displayport output the problem is when I connect vga the displayport dosent work and I plugg out vga out the displayport works fine 😒
devices involved🤭
mi tv 4 a pro :- has a hdmi input and displayport output from pc
random monitor from lenovo with a vga input
and a idiotic adapter from a local store cant trust cuz its from china
my unique pc also from lenovo not random its Thinkcenter M72e🙂
Fixed my problem. Thank you. IT issues always make me feel like an idiot lol.
Hello there. I have that problem since 2 weeks. nobody could help then i watched your video. It worked first. now it is lost again. I changed nothing but it is gone again.
Turns out you have to turn it on for it to work
lmao i make mistakes like that all the time
i only got the hdmi in and its black screened, this jus started happening
None worked, I cant even see my mouse cursor :(
...same with me., None of my options worked. Usually when I unplug the monitor that doesn't turn on and plug it back in - both monitors turn off and then come back on... I have no idea why.
@@sugarfreestreaming8699 so there is a power cable with ur pc and a box in the midle, try to move that around or unplug worked for me
@@patrickkloiber741 so we discovered what was actually going on is that when the Display Port is plugged into the 2060 on my system, it overrides the HDMI cable for the main display and the main display becomes the secondary display. I had to instead use a DVI cable in order the main display to keep it's primary status.
But it's giving me a Resolution error because the DVI cable is so old and asking for a dual-link DVI cable (upgraded version).
im useing an aser monitor as my second with a dvi to hdmi adapter and its not working
YO ME TOO
I have no clue what to do i have tried a tv and it doesnt work. the thing is the moniter my brother has works for mine nothing else
What you did does sometimes works but your explanation is wrong it has to do with Windows fails to id the device correctly or forgets or the handshake the plug and play function the order in which it looks at what is connected. When you unplug the cable it renegotiate the plug and play. It been a problem since windows 95. Microsoft always blames everyone else. It has all ways been buggy with mismatch monitors or VgA/hdmi/dmi.
It worked thx
Worked for me to restart my drivers with windowslogo-ctrl-shift-B
What if i dont have VGA-
Mine is working, but it flashes black for about 2-3 seconds randomly. Im on Windows 11 and connected to a Samsung TV.
I have the same moniter
I have half black dead screen... What can i do
For me it's fine until a game loads, the game screen goes black, how to fix?
It showed that 2nd is active but it was black and i mistakenly clicked on "show in anly 2" now i have 2 black screens 😭😂
good job mate 😆
He not answering nobody comment ‼️
thats the same monitor as mine
This is fucking unfair bro my monitor is super old i have the same problem when connecting it with the laptop. My monitor doesnt have any other hole besides the one for the blue cable. Even if i had HDMI i would not need it because the monitor doesnt have a hole for that
Thank you so much
I love u man XD
It's almost always layer a 1 issue! Thanks for reminder to check the cable.
Secondary moniter is detected but not displayed through hdmi to hdmi moniter (hdmi power saving mode) but displaying with USB C to Vga moniter.
Not working with (USB C hdmi hub) to hdmi moniter.
Noy working with (HDMI to VGA adapter) to VGA moniter.
When HDMI port gets involved, mointer is dected but not displayed.
Any one counter this problem and got solved?
I have a laptop setup with my external monitor as a second screen. It's an iiyama g-master GB34 and I literally just locked my laptop screen and came back to find my monitor screen on but back-lit is black. For the past two days, I've tried to access the OSD menu, use 3 different HDMI cables, tried connecting a pc, 2 different laptops and a ps4 but nothing is popping up apart from a black screen. There isn't even a "no signal" error message popping up. This points to my monitor being the issue. I just don't get it, surely this can't be the end of my monitor..from just locking my laptop screen?!
If anyone has this issue and was able to solve it, please let me know :(
What to doooooo?
my second screen is white - I don't know what to do
square video kyu banai
Click on detect
Not working can you help me
Use the description maaan. No interest in watching 5,5 mins of babbling and a guy giving a massage for cables. Took 2 minutes to google the solution and read it instead of watching this lmao
I only have a VGA cable can someone help
This didn’t work for me…
I hate electronics...wasting my life and my money
t
i did it somehow idk how lol
What a waste
I did the small mistake of pressing "show only display 2" and my primary monitor is black whatever i plug it in.. i want to kill myself
I did the same thing. After trying everything for hrs. I discovered all I had to do was change my monitor setting from Display port to HDMI. I had to reconnect my old laptop to do it, since the new one would only show a black screen when I plugged the HDMI cable into it. I thought the HDMI connection would work right away. Didn't know that I had to change it over in the monitors menu.🤯
I tryed everything in the video but i didnt work...
Because it wasnt plugged in
Omg get to the point 😭 I can not stand rambling on how to videos ‼️🙄
So mine didn't again and it's not turning on at all
Nothing I do fixes
