It might be the that sensor is rotated off center by a bit and might be moving a bit - which is causing the attack and path error. Clubhead speed is being estimated from shaft speed - but it doesn't necessarily have the correct length for your shafts (which changes the lever arm length) or your hand location and size(which changes the pivot point). If you subtracted 5 from the angle of attack; the average error would be fairly small - generally less than 1 degree. If you subtracted 4 from the clubhead path, again error would be on average less than 1.
Great video, I guess I will stick with my Optishot golf... Much better for speed of club face and angle as well. Track man is much better but much more $$$ as well.
Unless I'm incorrect Track Man 4 cost $19,000. PhiGolf costs $249. Yet they were still relatively close on a most distance and club speed measurements. I'm not sure if taking 1 to 3 shots is enough to make an overall assessment either. Also, PhiGolf constantly updates their algorithms so it's likely 10 months later it's better. Putting for example has improved. It's very accurate with hooks, slices, tempo and many other important stats. And unlike trackman 4 it's easy to take on a real golf course. Not bad given it doesn't see the ball in the real world and costs $18,751 less. I agree Trackman 4 is superior but imo it's mostly for serious players who don't mind the huge price difference and want the most accurate info possible.
First off thanks so much for tuning i to the channel. I don’t disagree with the majority of your statements. The Phigolf is a very enjoyable device that I still play A LOT in the winter time, and thoroughly enjoy it. However, I wanted to review Phigolf using real golf clubs against what the pros consider to be the end all be all in launch monitor technology. In my opinion the Phigolf is just simply not accurate enough to be considered a game improvement tool. It is a fairly accurate device that allows you to play some simulated golf, but just is not accurate enough to be used as a game improvement tool. That does not take away from it’s fun factor though, and I still love playing mine.
I got the Phi Golf 2, the accuracy differs from application within the game, The WTC courses give me the right clubs for my ability, while the Phi Golf 2 courses I have to go 1 or 2 clubs up, (I'm doing reps for each bogey to try to find more than girly distance).
Can’t speak to Phigolf 2 but I sometimes see a difference. Sometimes you have to consider the lie and wind as that will make a difference too. I also think we swing different on the range vs. course. Technically I don’t know what would cause it though.
I’m curious.. The Phigolf yardage numbers especially on a 7 iron looked more realistic. You were smacking that 7 closer to 170 yardage than what trackman said. Hmmm
Dude I’ve never hit a 7 iron 170 yards in my life. Lol......I appreciate the bode of confidence, but my 7 iron distance for many years has been right at 150. Depending on how much I get into it I might hit 155 at most. Mid-irons seemed to be semi-realistic though. Overall I like Phigolf mostly for the entertainment factor. Helps keep my sanity in the winter in Pittsburgh.
Unfortunately no. Even Phigolf says on their website FAQ’s that it was never meant to be used like that apparently. However, it is still a pretty fun system to get some swings in during bad weather.
It’s very easy. The device has a stem that is designed to stick down in the hole at the end of your grips. You just pull it out of one club and stick it into the next.
Honestly I have not tried it on the E6 range. That function came out long after I did this review, but perhaps I should do a follow up. I’ll give it a shot against the launch monitor, and let you know what I find out.
Did you select the real club option in the menu? How come your shape is so bad... you have an indoor range with trackman lol other CZcams- ers have have had much better and closer results
Why is my shape so bad? Because I’m a hack golfer not a pro! Lol……but yes I did select the real club option. So given my imperfect swing it should give you an idea of how accurate it is when you don’t fit the typical perfect swing.
@@thepittsburghgolfhack you're also a pretty big dude. The algorithm is probably based on someone shorter. Do the instruction say you need to align the tab in the end of the club with the face?
Great video brother!!

Thank you for this video. It's been a year and Phigolf updates it's software frequently. How about another review.

7 iron from 170? Lol the average distance for 7 iron is 140…
Are you able to lower yardage manually on the Phi?
No, the yardages are pretty well set based on swing speed, and other calculated clubhead parameters.
Not gunna lie, thats a catchy tune in the video lol
Haha thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Try with Birdie ball and real clubs? Lets see that.. Phi golf be ok not the trackman though..
Can u calibrate it so the distance can be closer to the trackmans numbers?
Unfortunately no. Even Phigolf says on their website FAQ’s that it was never meant to be used like that apparently. However, it is still a pretty fun system to get some swings in during bad weather.
Sounds like a new feature request to Phigolf.
Hi, how easy it is to change the tag to a different club?
It’s very easy. The device has a stem that is designed to stick down in the hole at the end of your grips. You just pull it out of one club and stick it into the next.
Did you use the settings app and change it from practice club to real club?
Yep, changed it to using real clubs. What you see is with the real club settings.
@@thepittsburghgolfhack I've tried it with my real clubs but not hitting balls and it seemed close to the practice club?
@@thepittsburghgolfhack I've got Phigolf the original! 🐊🇺🇸
Is it any different with E6 driving range?
Honestly I have not tried it on the E6 range. That function came out long after I did this review, but perhaps I should do a follow up. I’ll give it a shot against the launch monitor, and let you know what I find out.
I brought mine to the range and after 2 shots the phi golf broke 🤣 had to fix it with epoxy but have not brought it to the range since.
Oh man that stinks. I’ve not had any issues hitting with mine still.
Can you get one for each club?
Unfortunately no. The system looks at each sensor (tag) as a person.
Its not even accurate but just for fun for friends and family non golfers
Your club speed is low numbers don't add up

Almost every other review I've seen up against trackman/GC3 etc have had numbers virtually same?????
