Welcome dear scene walker,
Today's walk is one i have been looking forward to filming for a long time.
A night walk in snowfall in the city of Tampere.
The Tampere Christmas Market is still under construction as seen in the market square, but i was able to film it last year:

Tampere's main street (Hämeenkatu) underwent a total renovation, adding a tram line connection and new LED lighting, etc
The city in general is also moving towards modernization.
Other large cities such as Helsinki and Turku are historically landscaped, which results in more warm, authentic light in many places.

Another great video Sevy! I really liked it when you shared with us that, whilst standing on the bridge, with the wind blowing and it felt like it was cutting through your face or something like that. You know over the years when I have told people that I was going to visit relatives in Finland or Sweden, people would always say “yikes! That’s gonna be cold”, and I would always reply, no, not necessarily, it depends if the air is still or not and if you have the appropriate clothing.
Some 25 years ago I flew to Kuusamo with my grandmother (who had just moved from Helsinki to Porvoo to be closer to her daughter). While we were up there, we did some cross-country skiing in the woods (flat-ground skiing for those who don’t know what that is). It was -25 degrees but the air was completely still and it did not feel cold at all. People often forget that there is also a difference between “dry” cold and “humid” cold. The latter is pretty nasty because the humidity factor really gets into your bones. I guess standing over a body of water with the wind blowing, that was an example of humid cold. Ironically, 0 degrees in windy and humid cold can feel WORSE than -25 in dry cold with no wind! 😅

This walk was super humid, my clothes were soaking wet when i got back to the car, combined with strong winds, it felt so much colder compared to a dry and sunny day of -20 degrees.
That bridge crossing above the strong current was extra windy, when i turned the camera i couldn't stay still there for long.
That's just one of the fun experiences of filming in winter conditions.

I live in Wisconsin and we get similar winters to Finland but your city buildings have a much more appealing architecture than ours, in my opinion. Keep the videos coming. Tampere is generally a very beautiful city, there are also very boring cities in Finland, but again this is a personal preference, some like it simple, others prefer busy and structured areas.

Has the snow also made your environment look 10x better? 😝 It is always a magical feeling when it snows and transforms the landscape.
That bridge over the strong current was terribly cold (@06:00), i gritted my teeth at that moment, after filming my clothes were completely soaking wet because the weather was so humid.
It's much more fun to film when temperatures are lower, resulting in this kind of powdery snow that doesn't stick or melt.

Good evening Sarah, glad to read that you enjoyed this. I remember this walk being very cold on my face and fingers, even though the temperature was only -1 degrees Celcius, it was super humid and windy.
To answer your question: yes i do, but not as often as i would like. I find it best to film forest walks during the day with as much light as possible and preferably after snowfall has occurred. I hope to film several forest walks this winter season.

These 2 cities are both really great. I think the quickest way to describe them is that Tampere is more focused on the future with modern infrastructure, while Turku (the oldest city Finland) tends to keep it nostalgic and historical.
Tampere is located more inland, sandwiched between two lakes.
Turku is a seaside city, with quick access to the beautiful Finnish archipelago.
