He has always said that he wants to perform in Eurovision. This is a dream come true for him, and in his winners performance during Australia Decides he actually broke down in tears and couldn't finish that large climax at the end because he was so emotional that we (I'm Australian and all 10 of my votes went to him) had chosen him to represent us in Turin.
We love to see it! And Eurovision is lucky to have him 🥰
absolutely agree that there's no way this won't qualify - I think we're looking at a definite return to the top 10 for Australia :)

When I first realized who Sheldon was (I have seen him in The Voice Australia) I was so excited. I know this is something he has dreamed of, and I'm so happy that he won! Australia deserves their first win with this song. His voice is just.... I have no words. Easily my favorite this season!
Anything is possible! But if they somehow don't qualify, I will throw a tantrum.

The first time I heard Australia's entry this year which was the National Final performance, not the studio version I was instantly drawn in like last year and 2020 with Gjon's Tears from Switzerland.
Hearing Sheldon sing I felt every word he said and that's before I even read that he'd written the song himself about having Asperger's which I relate to having a cousin with that and my sister being autistic as well.
This song showcases Sheldon growing up gay in a religious family being moved from house to house and how he felt he didn't quite fit in school being bullied and things so, of course, the emotion he showed when singing was real because the song was personal to him even though the message can be interpreted with other things too naturally.
This out of all the National Final songs was my favorite although the others were good within themselves I'm glad this won first and foremost.
Having known Sheldon from the Voice before I knew his vocals would be good here. I also understood the importance of the mask being art as the man said recently in a Eurovision interview.
Some people might want Sheldon to take that off earlier to connect with him more but I get why the reveal happens when it does because it's Sheldon accepting himself of course.
Yes, the performance to some might've seemed overdramatic but as I previously mentioned the song was personal to Sheldon hence the crying. If people have followed Sheldon's career they'd know he's quite dramatic in his performances anyway.
My male vocalist of the contest so far this year is divided between Sheldon, Ochman, and Mahmood from Italy.
Jury wise this song might have a four-way split between Poland, the UK, and Italy which it would do better in than televoting although I'd hope other countries showed their love for Australia like with Dami Im in 2016 and if a country who'd never won Eurovision did or one that hadn't for a long time it would be a nice change than something like Sweden again for instance.
Whatever happens, I look forward to Sheldon's Eurovision performance and hope the staging proves fruitful so Australia makes it into the top 10 because this song deserves to be there in itself overall.
Thank you for all this, your passion is real! I agree with you on most of it, I'm definitely a sucker for their voice, it's incredible. The more I've listened to the song, I feel like I've accepted it's not the winner. But you are right, the juries may love this and really push it up.

That was an outstanding, insane vocal performance with on point vocal variation technique as well as a very good vocal control that gave me the chills. Emotional and soulful performance, so much so that one feel and hear the pain of the emotions. And that staging made it kind of mystical and magical and it was like he was besides him self telling the story of the song. The costume and that cool decorative mask was unexpected but really cool. I love it! Very much a Eurovision material performance as a hole, and this could land high up on the result list. Among the top 10 would not surprise me. Will be some serious competition in this years Eurovision 😎😁

I love this song. But one question: What's the symbolism of the fans? I see them and I immediately think of Angel Heart. Is there a connection? Probably not.

I love his voice and my first reaction was wow when I saw the recap of all the contestants. But then I heard the whole song and to be honest it’s not a winner for me, it’s kinda flat bc he sings the same over and over and for me it becomes annoying and boring. Not saying it’s bad, it’s good just not as good as I hoped from hearing the chorus.
I'm the same tbh. My first reaction was wow, coming back to it, the voice is killer but the song is.. eh. Definitely not a winning song, it repeats on itself too often and the performance, haunting as it is, doesn't feel genuine anymore. Still a potential qualifier!
