Thank you so much!!!! So happy you’re enjoying these. 😃😃😃😃😃🌱
You've earned a sub. My calatheas have been dying in soil no matter what. Going to try this
Hoorrraaaaaayyyyy!!!!!! 😃😃😃. It’s the only way I’ve been able to grow any. Let me know how it goes! 🌱👍🏼
love the "for me"
Very helpful and encouraging video!😊😊 Never knew you can grow prayer plant in water😮😮 Wish I had known this before I killed several over the years😢😢 Thanks for sharing this video w us😊😊👍
@@user-gc2jy5dh9j I’ve been there. I feel your pain. Thank you so much for watching!!! So happy you’ve enjoyed it!!! 😃😃😃🌱🌿
I will definitely be doing this now that Spring will be here soon!! Thank you for sharing Paul!!🤗🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you for watching. I really appreciate it. 😃
I have moved a bunch of plants to my aquariums, and they are so happy. I've got them "hanging" in a variety of ways. They suck up the nitrates the fish produce and LOVE it.
That’s fantastic!!! I set something like that up for a friend as well. The Pothos have exploded in growth. 😃🌱
Great information. Thanks
Have you ever thought about doing an arrangement where you have some of each plant and one container? That would be gorgeous!!❤❤❤
I was planning on doing that before the mites killed a lot of them. I did do that with syngonium a few years ago. So pretty!!!
Wow, this is the first time I've heard of a solution to the chemical in the water and a wealth of other info.😮😮 thank you sir❤
Thank you so much for watching!!!! 😃😃😃
Thank you for sharing that tip! I've been waiting! Lol! I love watching your videos and seeing how beautiful and healthy all your plants are. Thanks!!!
Wow. Thank you so much! Bits so great to meet ppl that love plants as much as I do!!! 😃😃😃
@@paultheplantparent2702 it's great to meet you too! I love your videos, you make it look so easy to care for plants and yours are so beautiful!!!
@@rebekahu8524 thank you so much!!! It really means a lot!!! 😃😃😃👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🌱🌱🌱
I’m so happy I bumped into your channel. I’ve been moving my plants into leca and I killed a large amount of them. Thank you for this advice ❤
Oooooh. I’m so sorry. We’ve all been there tho. I guess it’s par for the course. So happy you found me too!!! Welcome. 😃🌱
I LOVE to watch the roots grow
Me too. One of the best parts!!!
Exactly the info I was looking for. Thank you.
Thank YOU so much!!! Really appreciate you watching. 😊
I am SO happy I stumbled upon this video. I have an aglaonema that I can’t seem to please in soil, but maybe I’ll try growing it in water!
They do really well in water. I don’t have any in soil anymore. So much less stress!!!! I’m also SO happy you’re here!!! People like you make this so worth it. Thank you thank you thank you!!!! 😃❤️🌱
You've given me an assignment for tonight. Well, maybe more than one.
Cool. Looking forward to hearing about it all. 😃😃😃
Beautiful work 👏👏👏
Thank you so, so much!!! 😃😃😃
Wow thanks for the tip. Your caleatha are gorgeous!!!!!
Thank you so much. They were so happy until the thrips devoured most of them. Horrifying. 😞
Paul, I'm loving your channel and you have helped with transition of my plants. Could you please look into your audio. I find it to be very low volume as compared to other channels. Thank you.
Hey Dominic. I just checked these out. Not sure why that’s happening for you. The volume sounds good on this end. Maybe I’ll get closer to the mic. Eventually I’ll get a mic that clips to my shirt. Thank you so much for watching these videos….even with bad audio. 😃🌱
The only problem I have with this.... Sadly I need more glass jars to put my plants in😂😂😂 well I will definitely have to look at Goodwill!!
I go to dollar tree and get glasses (drinking glasses ) and I use pickle jars also. Maybe add a few stones if you don’t want it to look so plain. But mine are fine ! Also if you work in a office see if anyone keep their vases from bdays, valentines day, etc and ask can you reuse them
I've recently moved several of my Aglaonema plants, a Domino Peace lily and some pothos straight from soil to water. I cleaned the roots as well as I could and change the water daily and clean the roots a little more each time. It's been a couple of weeks now and they are all doing great. I have, however been curious about how to fertilize and what to use. Any thoughts? Thanks for the informative video.
For nutrients you have a lot of options. A good fertilizer for foliage plants is Maxigro. You can find it online, including Amazon. 😃👍🏼🌱
Can you do a tutorial on "water culture"? Do you use any liquid fertilizer? Is it even needed? How often do you change the water if at all, or do you just top it off? A list of plants that you must use a water conditioner for. Soil in the house is not my friend lol so I'm currently transitioning all my plants into water. Thanks
Hello there. I hear you on that. I definitely don’t prefer soil growing. I have a lint if different videos on setting plants up into water culture in this channel. I was only using water conditioner for the Calatheas. Fertilizer is used once the plants are showing new root/leaf growth, after they’ve acclimated. I use very diluted fertilizer - either orchid fertilizer or Maxigro. In the beginning I change out the water every day or two, just to keep it clean. Once the plant is growing in water I’d just top it off and flush completely about once a month. Good luck with your plant journey. Leca and/or lava rock work well too!!! 😃👍🏼🌱
While going the Aquaculture route what type of fertilizer would be used? Closest ive got to doing aquaculture is a mangrove filtration system for my saltwater coral tank in which the plants received nutrients from the fish and other organics in the tank. (I dont love chemical fertilizers but id use them if thats the only way)
A lot of ppl use the fish waste….that’s the most natural. I use either Bettergro orchid fertilizer or Maxigro. Both work great!!!
So many beautiful plants!❤❤❤ A few of them I have which I am in the middle of transferring all of them to water. But do you fertilize any of them after a month of them being in water? I know the first set that you have which I call it a Jacob's ladder I've had my babies in water for forever now. I think they do better and water compared to the ones I have in dirt. I'm just running out of space for them because they are so viny.
I usually wait for them to show active root/leaf growth, then I start the feed. So exciting to hear someone else as passionate as I am. 🌱👍🏼
@@paultheplantparent2702 gotta love them plant babies 💕💕💕
@@furryplantsandcoins9070 Absolutely!!!!!! 🙂
I'm looking for info on how much water you fill in a vase in general for all plants.
For foliage houseplants, I fill to the base of the plant so all the roots are submerged. Then I refill when 1/4 of the water is gone. For orchids, I only submerge half of the roots in water, so they get enough oxygen.
Good job, I grow in water to o
So great to meet you. Our community is growing!!! 😃👍🏼🌱
What about snake plants, I have them in soil and would like to transfer them into water ,but I'm worried about fertiliser, thanks for the help.
Hello. I’ve grown snake plants in water as well. I would just let the roots heal before putting into water, after you rinse all the soil off. Then I used the orchid plus or Maxigro. 😃👍🏼
Omg new to the plant world so far I have killed off my Lucky Bamboo Plant lol 😂
Oh no. Well we’ve all been there. Fear not. There’s hope! 😃😃😃
Hi your video is sooo helpful,Thank you for making such video❤ I want to ask that can I transfer my janet craig draceana from soil to water how long can ot survive in it and will it grow? Please reply.
Hello. Yup. Janet Craig transfers easily. The roots are strong and they usually do well. You can even remove most of the roots to let it start over in water if you need to. I’ve had one in water for years!!! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
@@paultheplantparent2702 Thank you so much ❤️😊
Hello, i would like to know can you do a Easter cactus in water culture.
Hello. I’ve propagated Easter cactus in water and left them there for a while. It is definitely possible. They do even better in Leca or lava rock!!!! 😃👍🏼
Great video! For the imperial green philodendron, did you take it right from soil and put it into water, or did you take cuttings off of it and put those into water?
Hello. I took the whole plant out of soil. 👍🏼🌱
@@paultheplantparent2702 Thank you! Will be trying that
@@nicoled7028 let me know how it works out for you. I haven’t been feeding mine but it’s still growing….slowly, but growing. 😃
Oh I forgot to ask you Do you ever experiment with bulbs being water grown?
So far I've had wonderful experiences with water culture. I'm still wondering about the vessels. Clear glass or coloured? Does it matter??
Hey there. 😃😃😃😃. I prefer clear only doin can see water quality and levels, but it allows algae to grow. I don’t mind that tho. I keep them clean for the most part. 😃
do you keep the calatheas in filtered, rain or distilled water or just nirmal tap
I use normal tap water. 👍🏼
Thank you for your excellent videos. I am a beginner in this way of having plants. What kind of water do you use? What special fertilizer can be added to the water so that the plants are this beautiful?
Thank you so much. I use tap water and added aquarium water conditioner. Humidity is important too. I also used an orchid fertilizer - link in the video has this product if you need. 😃😃😃. Thank you so much for watching!!!
@@paultheplantparent2702 Thank you very much for your answer...can I use only the orchid fertilizer?
@@taz3452 it has micro and macro nutrients but if you want a hydroponic fertilizer specifically, Maxigro works well too. Also in the link. But e had success with both. 😃👍🏼
@@paultheplantparent2702 Thank you very much for your help...I have 8 almost dead plants...I will let you know how it went with the fertilizer...You have very pretty plants.
@@taz3452 thank you so much!!!! I hope things turn around. I want everyone to have beautiful plants!! 🪴 👍🏼
I have a calathea that has simply been dying for about a whole year. I've tried different measures to ni avail. By now it has like 4 leaves pretty sad.
Since they're going to be dead relatively soon, I was wondering if it can be transfered to water.
But I don't know if they can be transfered with whatever roots they have or if they need to be trimmed.
Hmmm. It’s hard to tell. They’re very challenging plants. If it’s not the humidity or root rot, it’s pest infestations. I only keep a couple at this point. If it’s going down hill, not sure if transferring will even work. Such a shame because they’re beautiful plants.
I water my plants in soil with water straight out of my fish aquariums. I am just starting out with plants and want to move to water. Not sure if i should use the fish water for it or not. Have any thoughts?
Plain fish water might have too much bacteria to keep it clean/oxygenated if it's stagnant. You can use fresh water and supplement with some fish water probably. But just keep an eye on it. It also might start to give off a smell if it's pure stagnant fish water. 😛
I'm going to have to find that water conditioner. I have the same problem with some of my plants the ends are burnt.
Yeah spider plants and dracaena get that too. But it def helps!!!
The Plant's look better in water.
They look pretty, right? Thanks so much for watching. 😃
Should I cut all the soil roots off before putting them in the water?
Hello. I only cut off roots that aren’t healthy. Just need to clean them all off really well and remove all the soil. Then it’s water changes every 1-2 days u til you start seeing new water root growth. But cutting off all the roots may set the plant back even more than the transfer alone.
I use rain water first if I d😅but have that I usel filter water is that good?
Sure. Filtered water is good - just can’t forget the nutrients, even more important when using water that’s been filtered. Filtered water has some of the minerals that are already in the water, filtered out. 😃👍🏼
What do you feed the plants that you have in water
Lately I’ve been using orchid fertilizer but I also have Maxigro hydroponic fertilizer. I use very diluted. 👍🏼😃
Can you use rain eater
@@valeriebaker4563 sure. Rain water could even be better. 😃👍🏼🪴
Hi what kind of fertilizer do you use
Hello. Right now I’m using an orchid fertilizer for all my plants. Come browse my favorite plant products in my Amazon Affiliates Store: amzn.to/48siHU3
How can I save a very small AV from crown rot? It’s the only one I have? Can I propagate the leaves if necessary? I wish I could send you a photo.
Yup, the leaves can propagate. If you want, send a pic so we can decide what to do. Plantparenthood12@gmail.com
Hi
Can you use fertilizer with the water conditioner please?
Yup. The water conditioner just removes the chemicals and heavy metals from the water. You can definitely add fertilizer. I use orchid feed…. There’s a link in the description of the video. 😃👍🏼
Thats really helpful.Ive learnt a lot from you. Thank you@@paultheplantparent2702
Have you ever tried growing parlor palms in water culture? If so, was it successful?
I’ve only grown parlor palm in semi hydro. I haven’t had one in a while. Maybe I’ll pick one up soon. 😃
How long can tradescantia survive in water ?😊
@@somoni I have tradescantia Purple Heart in water for a VERY long time. They seem to do the best! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
How often do you change the water?
I change the water more often in the beginning, while the plant is acclimating. Every couple of days. Eventually, it ends up being once a month or so. 😃🌱
Do you ever add fertilizer to your plants in water, or is that a bad thing?
Yup. I add diluted fertilizer to all my water cultured plants once they’re acclimated and are actively growing roots. 🌱
Can you grow anthirium and desert rose in water?
Anthurium definitely can transfer over to water. Not sure about desert rose tho. Haven’t tried that one. 😃👍🏼
Do you feed your plants?
Once they show new growth - leaves and roots, I then add diluted feed to the water. Unclean water can cause a quick problem for calathea, so just make sure it’s always clean. 😃👍🏼🌿
Would have helped in your presentation to have included the plant name alongside the plant . thank you
Thanks for watching.
When can I get a preyerplant
They sell them at a lot of big box stores. Have you tried checking there?
“quite some tome…” “a long time…” “i don’t remember its name… “ “I think it’s…” 😂 very funny!!! NOT!
lol why so nasty?! 😂. Where are your videos? Oh I see them. NOT!!!
Pace of video too slow gets boring
Sorry to hear that. You don’t have to watch if you’re bored.
Pace of the video too slow?? This isn't the Kentucky Derby. You keep as you are doing Paul. We love the pace you go.
