Just sit down and review the it! Just sit with your crew if you don't have enough brains and ask them what they think about it! Change it! Rewrite so it doesn't suck so badly! I think your review is very even handed and thorough. However I want to add that I see it as a story about human nature and how we react under pressure. I think it was quite important the scenes with the mice. The mice at the beginning being so afraid of the weightless become aggressive with each other and bite each other to death. She finds them all bloody and missing parts. (Not that mice in real life behave that way). And at the end two mice that had stayed calm holding on to the mesh were peaceful and okay. I think was used as a symbol for the people. Kinda like saying that the fact of freaking out on paranoid distrust was their undoing and the two who mostly kept calm were able to weather the crisis. However I think that the most important line of the movie is the very last one, too bad it's said quite softly. She radioes NASA that they are going down, they answer that they are willing to welcome any US astronauts (in other words not the Russian guy). She looks at him, he asks her "Where are we going?" And she answers "I don't know"... and it ends with the important question unanswered...
    Because it is like nowhere will they be welcomed together as friends because the world has become so polarized.

    I didn't see the movie, but from these images, the floaty cameraworks could help selling zero G when the production wasn't allowed to have actors on wires. i think its a clever strategy, but might also be tiering to watch the whole movie. I remember Gravity's camerawork was much more stable, but they most likely had a much bigger budget, and it mostly had just one actor on screen, so its easier to build a splecial effects shot, when there's only one 'moving part'.

    As a NASA engineer this was a painfully hilarious watch. Worse than Gravity for sure. The micro gravity completely took me out of the movie. Everyone looked like they were wearing diapers to hide harnesses. They were so stiff and their centers of gravity completely off. The way they moved was so off. Also so so many technical inaccuracies that drove me up the wall. Specifically the "drill" known as the PTG has almost no torque and is not going to drill into flesh like that.

Along the way, the astronaut visit & conduct exploratory mission on planets & asteroid (ala Star Trek). Some astronaut got what they want for on their mission, some don't, and dies too. I watched this last night. I had a good time. I enjoyed the tension throughout. I’m not one of those people who needs to connect with the main actor. I can go to a movie and watch everything unfold with absolutely no expectations. I didn’t mind the main character being a bit of an emotional recluse. She was actively keeping everyone away and I was totally okay with that. My only complain is that they weren’t consistent with special effects and makeup in that one violent scene. And that it needed to elevate the suspense from the already established status quo. I felt like it needed a little more umph in the end. Other than that it was a very decent movie and it didn’t totally play out like I thought it would. So the movie managed to surprise me here and there.

    Wow!
    A CGI movie about a CGI space station.
    How REAL is that!?

      I liked it, if you can't see many movies then maybe choose a different one but I definitely don't regret going. I'd say 3.5/5 stars

    Confined space, away from home, 2 different factions, ensemble cast, out in space, an outside conflict....makes me think of the movie 2010.

    Saw it last night. It was OK, I only saw it because I see movies every week without watching trailers, just pick up key words. I love space and end of the world type movies so this was my pick this week. I was a bit bored. And yes, it was very hard to connect with the main character. I felt like she was spark notes on what they wanted her to be like before they put in other details lol. Anyhoo, it was okay. I wouldn't see it again.

    I went to go see this with a friend yesterday. She’s very picky about the movies that she likes so it was very difficult to find something that I thought both of us would like. And she still wasn’t a big fan of it but I enjoyed the movie. I thought it was pretty cool, and. I obviously cannot say much about the camera work, because as you know, I am totally blind, so there is that aspect.. that said, I thought it was a very gripping tail and one that is extremely cautionary and one that could’ve been avoided if they would’ve just communicated to one another. But then, if everybody was good at communication, we wouldn’t have movies.!

    • @Quibblet
      @Quibblet Před 3 měsíci

      I don't blame your friend. This movie uses every regurgitated trope in the book. Once again, a film about two governments acting like a couple of jackasses on Earth, characters dying pointless deaths and using a tiresome, redundant Cold War trope.
      I kept thinking about a better plot for the film, and not involving pitting characters against eachother where it ends in paranoia and disaster. I could see the plot execution coming a mile away. This film is an insult to astrophysicists, astronomers, cosmologists and international joint organizations. I don't care how visually impressive, a stunning score or what complex filming techniques was used in this film, a polished turd is still a turd.
      This reminds me of "The Thing" in terms of self-preservation, tension and paranoia, and irrationality, but without the government intervention. Even the overrated 2001: Space Odyssey had better tension going against a rogue A.I than this uninteresting mess.

    As interesting to me as Life, except you don't have a Gyllehnaall overplaying like he's sitting on nails. I fell asleep during Life... and was glad it was over after the very predictable ending. For claustrophobic "fun", I recommend 2020's Underwater since it was so underrated in my opinion. For paranoia, nothing comes enven close to John Carpenter's : The Thing. For fair reviews, I get Stuckmannized!

    The thing directors always forget about when filming zero gravity is the hair. The hair on the actors stays flat on their heads when in real zero-G it is floating too. I'd rather they just not do it at all and invent some plot device where there is gravity.
