To the people worried about not being able to play a male character: there is a 99% chance you will be able to. Plenty of trailers for rpgs like this only feature a specific main character in the trailers, when in the actual game there's character customization. They did this for Skyrim, Mass Effect, Fallout 4, hell even Fable 3. Keeping the character consistent in the trailers also helps keep the story understandable; if they kept changing the look of the main hero in these story-based trailers, it could get confusing.
Plus, these days character customization is a common thing in rpgs. In a game like Fable, I see no reason why they wouldn't AT LEAST let you choose your gender. Remember there's only two trailers out so far, too.
I just hope the morphing is still a thing, I want my good character to have a halo and my evil character to have horns :)
I actually thought the "she's back" was her talking in 3rd person, and she came back unexpectedly from something. I guess i misread that lol

I think the city is Bowerstone, it has the castle shot from Fable 2 or 3. The castle, shape of the city, and color screams Bowerstone.
They really better let us use a male or female character, that's customized from a set of options at least.

Someone had to have trained the protagonist in combat, so an interview format trailer from the trainer would serve as an introduction to showing gameplay of the combat. The trainer could even make colorful comments on the movements of the protagonist (jumping, climbing, running in circles) as the protagonist is shown doing those things. I think it would make for an entertaining trailer that displays both the brand of the game as well as the games features.
i think a lot of the outrage is from people thinking that we're going to be locked as a female character, which i undersatand not wanting, but honestly i find it kind of unlikely that that will be the case
I feel like there is still enough of the fable aesthetic left that it kind of feels like how I imagined it looked when I was a kid playing the games. I just hope the game is actually as good as it seems it might be. The vibe I'm getting feels like it's pretty true to the fable tone with some of that darker twisted side of it still in there, we will see if the marketing ends up being actually representative of the game itself and hope it's not an unfinished buggy mess on release. At face value though, I'm excited and want to see more.
With the history of the company making the game; I want a horse race minigame, or something similar.

I just want to say as a gamer when I'm talking about in game footage I'm not talking about in game cinematic scenes I'm talking about gameplay footage. Some scenes they showed where gameplay but most were cut scenes. Calling cinematic cut scenes "in game footage" just shows how little major studios understand their customers.
the scripted scenes are rendered in-game though. thats the point of the disclaimer. to point out that what they are showing isn't pre-rendered cgi but what we can expect to experience in-game in the final product. i agree i wish there was more combat footage but we'll just have to let playground cook. looks like theyre doing a great job as of right now.

@@ohmnesia it's a Xbox exclusive, and a big budget third person game so playstation fans are salty about that aswell and need an excuse to amplify anything that goes against it. It is absurd. It'll all disappear once the game comes out and reviews well. Most these clowns will suck it up and even play it.

I liked the misdirection to whom Super Hans was talking about. Making you think they’ll do a joke about “she’s behind me” but they go on to hint about the villain.
Which I think it will be the Queen of Blades based on the hints.
There are no hints about the queen of blades at all. Shes long dead at that point and never was a hero.

@@AveChristusRex789 Therese also never was a Hero apart from her Bloodline. She made wrong choices and between Fable 1 and 2 she learned from and lived with different people so it could be, but I doubt she would learn how to be a hero from a guy named Humphry.
@@arphayas2826 I mean, Jack of Blades was a hero for years before we learnt about the history of him and the rest of the Court. I mean, it follows on “a hero that made bad choices” and that last line sounds like she traveled from another dimension.

Something that concerns me is that the character only ever seems to be wielding the same weapon. They have magic and I also saw throwing knives, but if you only have a sword throughout the game I will be sore disappointed. Also combat looks like it's kind of on rails which is weird, it kind of reminds me of Metroid: Other M's combat.

I'd say, it's Gameplay (in the obvious parts like Bowerstone or the surrounding area) but with a Cinematic Camera hence the missing hud and thus becoming "in-game footage"
My hope is that they made her features .... what they are.. to hint to us the variety of customizations we will have with our characters 🙏🥹

I think they've shown off the early parts of the game for a very specific reason: in fable two, your character starts off kinda ugly and depending on your choices they either become increasingly ugly or beautiful. Maybe what we're seeing here is an early character model?

It seems to be taking place after the time period of heroes being commonplace in Albion. I think Humphrey is giving the protagonist a tour of the heroes guild at 1:31 in the trailer which is now seemingly abandoned. Just a guess but I can't wait for more story details.

Fable is too synonymous with Xbox. It's the fourth one out of Gears, Halo, Forza. So no. Unless Xbox decides to go full multiplat for everything which they still definitely haven't. And even then if they do go full multiplat in the coming years I assume at least the latest entries of these series they will keep to themselves.

The guy in the first trailer was literally a giant not turned himself into one. It’s a play off Jack and the Beanstalk. And yes it’s real gameplay. Go look at Hellblade 2 again

I agree with you on the economy system i hope they have that also hope the title you earn from doing stuff is in the game your character look changing depending on your choice but like in fable 2 it was better on that than in fable 3

The whole idea of Fable is that it's an imperfect fantasy. Everything is kind of old and dirty, your characters have always been kind of frumpy, with bad haircuts and tattoos.
I’ve seen this story from Microsoft before…every year they show a bunch of cool looking games they’re working on, and it seems like half of those never come out, and the rest that do, half of them end up being disappointing, and the other half don’t sell the way they thought it would because Gamepass ends up cannabalizing the sales of their own games when they put it on Gamepass on day one. The company has thrown all their eggs into the Gamepass basket, and if the reports are true that subscriptions aren’t growing, then they’ll be in trouble sooner rather than later

I’m cool with female protagonist if she’s well done but if it’s the usual fable with customization and your character changing with your morals I doubt it’s a female only game
Bowerstone looks good . But graphics means there’s gonna be less features like buying out the entire world map and taxing the entire kingdom to buy even more stuff for myself so I can hoard all magic gauntlets and cutlass
Love everything about the game shown so far. But that's the only thing I'm waiting to hear on too. I want it to be feature rich, have mini games and have seasons. But that might be a big ask. But who knows. Playground is talented. But they also had to rework the Forza engine for an RPG which requires a lot of work to get started.

Everything looks great to me but I want to play as a male character so I can pretend to be the hero. Hopefully there will be a few presets of different genders people can choose from when starting the game. I'm not sure why they haven't just said that you will be able to do that as it would put a stop to all the hubbub. Probably just trying to get a bit of publicity out of it.

Look, if true, I'll gladly join the pitchfork party but people need to slow down about the character/character customization. This level of outrage is absolutely mind boggling. What purpose would they have to remove it or not give their audience options? Ill gladly take an 'L' if they do it, but to speculate to the point where people are threatening devs and trying to kill the title before ANYTHING has been officially confirmed is silly. It's pure conjecture and I actually agree with the issues with the looks and the weirdness of it but I don't ACCUSE anyone or make my decisions based on influencers and/or speculation. Did Skyrim not show the very same protagonist in most of it's marketing? Didn't the first Mass Effects do the same? I mean, even their (Playground Games) racing games had a very general character editor. Where is the line first of all and where is the evidence that proves ANY of this nonsense outside of the character they chose to base their marketing on? For all we know it'll have a GTA style character switcher, personally - I hope not, I LOVE deep customization but literally how is this sort of speculation any different?

It is strange that the main protag doesn't have as much detail as some npcs in this trailer.
Also, it's strange that Dragon Age has gone the opposite direction, and made it more cartoony.
I've seen the idea that the dog gremlin woman in the trailer is the one and only main character which would be god awful but nothing concrete hopefully there's a good character creation in this one
