How Is Someone Saved? (Mormons vs Christians)

  • You don't want to miss this excellent footage of a conversation between some young Mormons and Jeff Durbin and Zach Conover from Apologia Church. This is actual footage from our annual Mormon Temple outreach at the Mesa Temple's Easter Pageant. The conversation centers around the grace of God and salvation. Mormonism teaches that people are saved through a combination of grace, faith, and works. This is an antithetical message to the Gospel found in Scripture (Romans 1-5).
This is a powerful conversation. God has used these videos to lead many, many Mormons to saving faith in the true Christ. We humbly encourage you to Like and Share this video. These works as excellent "Gospel tracts".

Hey guys, we are Latter-day Saints, not Mormons. I’m pretty sure you will continue to refer to us as Mormons because it serves your agenda, to give non-members the idea that we are not Christian, which we most certainly are. My suggestion to you is to go through the missionary lessons given by Latter-day Saint missionaries who know and teach the true Gospel. Jesus Christ only recognizes and approves the Church which He and our Heavenly Father have Restored back to the earth in the latter day, and that is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints.

Oh yeah that’ll be the day when I see a Mormon cast out demons lol, Yeah I’d love to see that.
Don’t flatter yourself with so-called authority I don’t speak about men of God in a derogatory tone.
You’re in one of the most ridiculous cults on the planet and I thank God that my family came out of that cult into a real true living relationship with Jesus Christ.
You can keep your Jesus the brother of Satan and your plethora of gods and you trying to become a God yourself and you’ll find yourself in the same place Joseph Smith is, burning in hell.
oh and please do send a video of any Mormon ever casting out a devil, you don’t have the Holy Ghost, the authority, or the power to do so.
casting out devils can only be done by real ministers of God called and anointed by God so I think you know what you can do with that false priesthood authority.

see there is that mormon spirit, its not of Gid, you guys have been sold a false bill if goods about christianity, its no surprise, your cult was birthed in lies and deception and you are a good mormon continuing to regurgitate the lies of your cult leaders.
one thing i relaized after speaking to mormons for years about the real God of christianity is that it was a very rare event when a mormon actually cared for the truth, you have no love for the truth, your heart does not belong to god, you are all hypocrites, professing one thing while secretly living another.
anyone that would follow the blatantly blasphemous ramblings of a known pedophile, theif, liar, and adulterer has an issue with their own heart.
You know nothing of christianity and to make such a pathetic statement about paying for a pastors car payment shows not only your arrogance, and ignorance of God’s only word, the bible, but it also shows your arrogance and ignorance about the finances of your mormon cult and how that money is used.
the spirit you function in is clearly mormon, God isn’t looking for arrogant hypocrites, He can’t use them.
you can keep faithful to your religion while true christians will continue to be faithful to the one true living God.
sorry to burst your bubble but you won’t attain to godhood, you will never be a God, there is one God and you will bow your knees before Him one day and know that He is the one true God, there were none before him neither shall there be any after Him.
None of your efforts or what you call good works will save you in that day. God knows your heart and you have clearly revealed where it’s at.
There is only ONE way to be saved from the judgment of your sin and that is through Jesus Christ alone. no works you do can make you right with God.

    Thank you, Pastor Durbin
for the kind demeanour you have with the LDS
I was a TBM Mormon for 35 yrs. until the blinders came off through watching these videos and others like them . I was born again trying to prove Mormonism was the only true church but the Holy Spirit proved me dead wrong instead.
I was one who posted comments stating my testimony of the restored gospel and Joseph Smith.
I now spend most of my waking moments in the Bible and repenting for believing a lie.
Mormons are wonderful kind people, but have been fed a lie.
Pastor Durbin, I supported financially for my daughter to serve a mission at the Mesa, Arizona temple 10 years ago and you probably saw her. How I wish you had spoken to her. My biggest regret is teaching my children a false gospel
    It tears me up inside.

Christ says it was better that you have not have known me. Since you do know Christ and have turned away. Do you believe wonderful kind people
      are fooled?
These people are wonderful and kind
because of their faith and their good works.
      Not inspite of it.
Faith without works is a dead faith.
      Jesus did good works.
The same is expected of us.
There are churches around that want a contribution from us. They don't encourage us to do good works for fear we'll take our money elsewhere.
They bang on about 'by grace alone'
as a ploy to get the contribution without
pressure on the contributer to do something in return for being saved.
People are happy to contribute so long as they can continue with a worldly lifestyle. They assume the passage of time will bring improvement in themselves. God did it for them.
This is the big lie they fall for.
If we are saved then we must live up to the saving by doing our fair share.
God helps those who help themselves.
And God helps those who help others.
This is about having an active faith.
Living in the way of the Lord.
This is why these people are
      wonderful and kind.
      This born again Christian guy
      is a very smart deciever.
      Hence the beard.

John 5 [19] Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but *what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise*
The Son is following the path of the Father, and both are sinless from eternity
The answer == neither God the Father nor Jesus sinned according to the Prophet Joseph Smith. The false idea that God sinned is an antiMormon myth.

Given what Mormons MUST do in order to be given the miracle of forgiveness, which is to stop sinning altogether, it's no wonder Mormons can never know, this side of eternity, if all of their sins have been forgiven.
This is why the Mormon Gospel should be renamed to "The Impossible Gospel." It is not a Gospel of peace whatsoever. Very sad indeed that individuals have bought into a system like that.

Mormons believe you run the race as best you can, get to the end, fall short of the finish line and Christ puts out his hand and pulls you through to the finish line of salvation.
If you want His Grace then you HAVE to do His good works and meet Him somewhere
Christians believe Christ gives you the blessing of life to even run the race in the first place. So with gratitude we run as hard as we can and run the best “race” we can in his name and at the end we know, “wow that person was really running for Jesus” but in reality we can never do enough or anything for that matter to equate the value that is his allowing us to be alive to race in the first place.
Christ’s Grace alone allows us to be saved. We GET to do his good works as a result.

Their pride and self-righteous spirit blinds them from the truth. Only someone self-righteous and full of pride (= not humble) would not accept a FREE GIFT from God, the holy being that created them.
      THE FREE GIFT IS:
      1. SALVATION, the forgiveness of ALL your sins (past, present & future sins) because Jesus paid for them on your behalf by dying on The Cross.
      2. Having eternal life
      3. Being made righteous by the work Jesus did on the cross, not your works
      4. Becoming God's child
      5. Receiving God's Holy Spirit to inhabit you forever, which gives you power and life
      6. Being made whole
      7. Having a home in Heaven
      8. Receiving a godly inheritance
      9. And other blessings too innumerable to list
ALL THIS WRAPPED UP IN JESUS
      HOW YOU RECEIVE THE GIFT:
*By believing what God said about how you receive the gift, BY FAITH ONLY. That means trusting God at His word that is written in The Bible. God says if you confess with your mouth The Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Having faith in what God says leads us to see our sinful condition and this is what leads us to repentance. God's truth drives us to want to turn from our sins and change. It's that simple!
WHO THE GIFT IS OFFERED TO:
ANYONE who can humble themself to believe what God said about the way to receive it. I mean anyone! Yes, even a murderer, a tyrant, a sexually immoral person, a thief, a masturbater, a drug addict, someone addicted to porn, a satanist, an alcoholic, a smoker, a prostitute, a person coming from a false religion, etc can receive the FREE GIFT BY FAITH. THE GIFT IS OFFERED TO "EVERYONE". YOU JUST HAVE TO BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD AND HE DIED ON THE CROSS FOR YOUR SINS AND HE ROSE TO LIFE ON THE 3RD DAY. YOU CAN COME TO JESUS JUST AS YOU ARE AND HE WILL ACCEPT YOU. YOU DON'T HAVE TO FIX YOURSELF FIRST. YOU JUST HAVE TO REPENT: ADMIT YOU ARE A SINNER AND MAKE A HEART DECISION TO TURN AWAY FROM SIN. JESUS DOES THE FIXING. HE MAKES YOU NEW, HE DOESN'T PATCH YOU UP! YOU JUST HAVE TO HAVE A WILLING HEART.

Matt 25 [23] His lord said unto him, **Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things** I will make thee ruler over many things: **enter thou into the joy of thy lord** [24] Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: [25] And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. [26] His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and **slothful servant** thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: [27] Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. [28] Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. [29] For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. Peter gave us this warning
2 Peter 3 [16] As also in all his [Paul] epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
[17] Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
I suggest that you focus on what Christ Himself taught about salvation. Get a Red Letter Edition of the Bible and study His words.
Paul was speaking to the Judaizers -- the works of the Mosaic law. We agree that works do NOT save us, but keeping the commandment, repentance, and good and holy works are necessary o salvation..
Christ does not save us in our sins, but from our sins.
You are free to believe whatever you wish. That is between ourselves and the Lord, and I am not gong to argue with you -- I give you the last word on this issue.

LDS members need to sit and read Galatians, verse by verse, and just spend time getting to understand it.
They also need to be familiarized with the difference between good and bad hermeneutics.

    • @robertrosskopf4641
      @robertrosskopf4641 Před 4 lety

      Read it? We wrote it!
      "
"This letter is from Paul, an apostle. I was not appointed by any group of people or any human authority, but by Jesus Christ himself and by God the Father, who raised Jesus from the dead."
Paul was called by revelation! Like every LDS apostle. And God the Father and Jesus Christ are two separate beings, God the Father having the greater authority.
"May God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace."
      Two separate people.
"Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live."
He planned from the beginning that Jesus would give his life for the sins of mankind. Jesus - and mankind - existed before they were born!
"All glory to God forever and ever! Amen."
This is actually a mistranslation. The Greek says "all glory to HIM forever and ever", meaning either God the Father or Jesus.
"I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ."
      The apostasy has already started!
"You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all."
The Galatians were into Greek philosophy. Today Greek philosophy is taught at almost every Christian church. Historians call this adoption of Greek philosophy the Helenization of Christianity.
"You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ."
They redefined major precepts of the bible. "Father" didn't mean Father and "son" didn't mean son, because the philosophers could not believe that God had a body, and that Jesus was his literal son.
"Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you."
That good news was that God the Father sent Jesus Christ to be born as his literal son, and that through his atonement all mankind could be saved. Jesus was a bridge between God and mankind.
"Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God."
Compare that to all the preachers of today that have to win the approval of people just to have a job.
"If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant."
What does that say about the ministers of today?
BTW, those black robes that are popular among preachers are actually the graduation robes of those who went to a school of philosophy, an artifact of the Hellenization of Christianity. They are the robes of a false priesthood.
"Dear brothers and sisters, I want you to understand that the gospel message I preach is not based on mere human reasoning."
Unlike the gospel taught by the philosophers, which is almost all human reasoning.
"I received my message from no human source, and no one taught me. Instead, I received it by direct revelation from Jesus Christ."
That is the best way to receive knowledge of God! Would that all the followers of Christ were prophets, and that God would put his spirit on them!
This could have been written by any LDS apostle today!

cdowis Mormons believe in the Bible "as far as it is translated correctly." Not to sound disrespectful to you in anyway but you truly do not believe in the Bible. The Bible is the Word of God, and in order to believe in the Word of God, you have to believe in everything that it says, not just parts of it that fit into your own religion and cast out the rest of God's Word. We have the Dead Sea scrolls and about 5,000 ancient manuscripts that point out that our Bibles today are accurate. God's Word has not been corrupted or translated wrong. There is no need for a restoration to the Church because Jesus established His Church 2,000 years ago. Matthew 16:18 shows us that He built His Church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it, so Joesph Smith is 1800 years too late.
Again not to sound disrespectful but it is important that you know these things

    • @cdowis
      @cdowis Před 6 lety +1

1.I agree with you that the Bible contains the word of God -- but the Bible itself tells us that there are missing texts. Paul tells us that he wrote an epistle prior to 1 Corinthians, it refers to a missing prophecy in the OT (Matt 2:23), it refers us to read entire books which are missing in both the OT and the NT.
      2. But even assuming that the Bible is complete and inerrant, there remains the issue of an INERRANT INTERPRETATION. The scholars and theologians dispute among themselves even about basci salvation doctrines -- baptism, free will, faith vs works, etc.
      Peter tells us
2 Peter 1 [20] Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
[21] For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man [theologians, scholars] but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost [prophets]
We accept ALL the word of God, including the Bible and modern revelation.

God held Adam accountable. God is infinitely holy and must punish sin with death.
I John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
      Here is the Law.
Gen. 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree of the garden, 17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for on the day you eat from it, you will certainly die.”
Here is Adam's sin. Sin is the transgression of the law.
Gen. 3 The woman saw that the tree was good for food and delightful to look at, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom. So she took some of its fruit and ate it; she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
      Here is the punishment.
God is infinitely holy and must punish sin. God would be cease to be God and become Santa Claus if He did not punish sin.
God is the habitation of justice. Every sin you have ever committed must be paid for.
Gen. 3:17 And he said to the man, “Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘Do not eat from it’: The ground is cursed because of you. You will eat from it by means of painful labor all the days of your life. 18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. 19 You will eat bread by the sweat of your brow until you return to the ground, since you were taken from it. For you are dust, and you will return to dust.”

So if that’s the case, why follow the third book of mormonism at all? If you can be saved without it? Especially considering that so many believers are telling you that it is false and will lead you to damnation. Why is it worth the risk?

XYU I am aware, they believe that you add your own righteousness to “build part of the bridge” and Jesus grace builds the rest. It’s not what the Gospel teaches, and Paul addresses it specifically in Galatians.
However, not from the Christian perspective, but from the Mormon one, everything they need for salvation can still be found in the New testement. They can ignore the parts they don’t like about not living under the law, and still do everything else that mormons do for salvation. So from a Mormon perspective, it doesn’t even make sense to follow Mormonism, when the bible exists. They are just following something unnecessary. Acceptance of the gift is demonstrated thru our response to the gospel message. The appropriate response is repentance by faith, baptism in water by faith, baptism of the Holy Spirit by faith. This is clear in Acts of the apostles chapter 2:38. WORKS are a natural response to a true alive faith.

We believe in Jesus too, but his last name is Spirit Brother of Lucifer. We believe in God our Heavenly Father, but he wasn't perfect, and progressed from a man to Godhood. Truly seeking the truth would lead any truly concerned person to understand just how much evidence there is behind the text of the bible, and how it has not been altered. The bible has more copies of the original text than any other book of history, and each one matches up almost perfectly, beside maybe 0.5% of them and the parts that are off make no difference in the book or context. Its mind blowing just how well the text has been preserved and translated! Read Evidence That Demands A Verdict by Josh McDowell and Sean McDowell.

John 3:5 isn’t talking about physical baptism.
In Acts 3:19 Peter says this to those on Solomon’s Portico “Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out”. Why was baptism spoken about in Acts 2:38 but not here in 3:19? It’s actually pretty simple: physical baptism doesn’t justify us before a holy God. Only faith does.

    "Nothing can bridge that gap"
We have no hostility towards you nor your religion, but tell you in pure love that the atonement bridges that gap.
But Let's see what Jesus said about your question
Matt 25 [23] His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things **enter thou into the joy of thy lord**
[24] Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:
[25] And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. [26] His lord answered and said unto him, **Thou wicked and slothful servant*** thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed....
[29] For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. [30] **And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth**
I also recommend reading until the end of the chapter. Christ made it clear that our mouth will not save us.

Read more of the bible. Obedience is magnified throughout the bible. You would rather have Paul as your Christ rather than Jesus.
Heb 5:8-9 - Obedience required for salvation
Phil 2:12 - Work out your own salvation
Heb 11:1 - Faith is substance, evidence
Luke 10:27 - Love God with all your strength
John 17:3 - Know God to gain eternal life
1 John 2:3-6 - How do we know him?
Mark 16:16 - Must be baptized to be saved
Rom 6:22 - Become servants, then gift
James 2:14-17 - Can faith alone save?
John 14:15 - Love me? Keep commandments
      John 15:10 - Conditional promise
Jude 1:21 - Keep yourself in the love of God
      Luke 18:18,22,27 - Follow Him
2 Peter 1:1-11 Add to your faith
2 Tim 4:7 - Paul fought the good fight
Mark 13:13 - Endure and be saved
Matt 5:48 - Be perfect like Heavenly Father
Matt 22: 36-40 - Love God and neighbor
Matt 11:28-30 - Take yoke, burden is light
Matt 16:24 - Take up cross and follow
Matt 5:14-16 - Let your light so shine
      John 8:12 - Follow Him
      John 14:6 - The way
Matt 19:16-22 - Follow Him for eternal life

"For [God] will render to every man according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life..."
Now, don't get me wrong, we all need Jesus to be saved. Even our works are the gift of God and not our own. But he still made a rather blatant biblical mistake here.

Repentance is not a gift, that is Calvinism, we must choose to repent, it is a decision we make. It is God’s will that all men come to repentance.
So if we are to say that it is God that causes one to repent and we know it is God’s will to save all men, then God would cause all men to repent, which we know all men will not do.
Careful not to add Calvinism to the gospel. To as many as received Him, to them gave He the power to become the sons of God.
God is not WILLING that ANY should perish but that ALL would COME TO repentance.

Repentance is a change of mind.Even God in Gensis repented for different reasons. For salvation. You repent from unbelief to belief that Jesus is the Son of God and that He came down from heaven to earth.Jesus was sinless.Paid for the sins of the whole world by taking our place on the cross giving up His life for us.He was arose from the dead after three days and now is at the right hand of God the Father. And whoever believes Jesus did this for them without any kind of works from us is saved a born again Christian.Repent from sins for salvation will not save you.Thats a lie many churches are preaching today.God bless!

    • @gladiator8324
      @gladiator8324 Před 6 lety +3

starlight, first off, being dead in sins refers to mans state of separation from God, not an inability to make choices.
we see corrupted men make choices to obey God throughout history before anyone became born again.
dead in sins has nothing to do with an inability to choose Christ, even the man who had 6000 demobs was able to both come and fall at the feet of Christ before he was set free.
calvinism completely violates the gospel in every way.
repentance, believing, and confessing are all choices a man makes to be saved, salvation is bestowed upon those who choose to believe the gospel and confess Christ as Lord and Savior.

Gladiator8324: AMEN!! Absolutely! Thanks for your comments, God bless u! Calvinism destroys both the Gospel and the character of God. The bottom line is that the god of Calvinism wants "many to perish and few to come to the knowledge of the truth and be saved". The god of Calvinism died for just a few people, not all people and he doesn't love all but only a few lucky ones. If you are a Calvinist and are trying to spread the Gospel you can't tell people that Christ loves them and died for them and their sins because that would not be true if they are not "the elect" and you'd be lying to them. The god of Calvinism ultimately committed the original sin himself and then blamed the man he created for doing something he made him do to fulfill his secret purposes. So the god of Calvinism created evil and does evil. On the other hand, the God of the Bible is totally good and cannot do any evil and is not responsible for the evil that man chooses to do but gives all the chance to repent by turning back to Him in faith and receiving His son Jesus Christ as payment for our sins. God bless!
