- The ANBERNIC RG35XXSP is finally here! After shipping it comes in at about $75. This new clamshell handheld is certainly amazing, but there are a few things I was surprised ANBERNIC decided to do with this new retro handheld. Some of them are positive, and others aren't my favorite. This is not a full review video, just a few of my thoughts after spending a short bit of time with the RG35XXSP, the best GBASP clone to date.

First impressions video I've agreed with about the size. Everybody was talking about it being too bulky and I'm like yeah maybe for a child lol
From the review video's i've seen it does seem like anbernic has set a new standard in regards to clamshell handhelds with this unit. From what i can see it is quite a bit more powerfull than the Powkiddy V90. Good video, thanks for posting
from all the footage and reviews I've seen, I'm pretty hyped for this device. I'm just interested in seeing how the hinges hold up and how well GarlicOS works on it before I commit the $110 canadian dollars
Yeah I'm really hopeful the hinge will hold up, but I guess only time will tell! And GarlicOS 2.0 already has a sleep function working for the rg35xxsp, but from what I've heard performance isn't great yet (but will eventually get there in time)
I'll wait for the non clicky version.

I really wish Anbernic would give their systems better names.
I personally like clicky buttons.

I received my XXSP the other day. I don't find the buttons and d-pad overly clicky or stiff. The battery being exposed to the CPU may be an issue. I can see why they did it because a proper heatsink won't fit and there's no room for an airflow system. Only time will tell on how that will be affected. I put Modded Stock OS on a new SD card and it runs pretty well.
It seems like GarlicOS 2.0 is in weird position. They want to make a base install with bootloaders for each handheld. I'm interested to see how they can optimize Retroarch to get performance without using CPU/GPU specific optimizations. If they can pull it off, it'll be the one OS to rule them all for these handhelds.
Been using MuOS and its been super clean, performs well, etc. I also added small painters tape squares on each dome (two layers each square), and its significantly reduced the clicky noise
Just got mine its better than any 70 dollar game except gta 6!
I have a couple of the Nintendo AGS101 SP's they also have a clicky dpad and buttons all be it not quite as clicky as the Anbernic SP.
This, but with an internal emmc (for booting, sd is too volatile) and controls that don't suck and this would be near perfect.
Question does it have vibration motors

Got mine this week, the buttons are loud enough that I can see them bothering some people. I'm okay with that but wouldn't use it near my sleeping partner or in a library near other people
I don't have Gba sp nostalgia but I was waiting for this but right now too much expensive for me. With taxes and shipping fee the price goes up to 100 dollars. So I bought Rg35xx H for 60 dollars tax included. Anolog stick is important for me
Good thing I already got a Retroid pocket flip..because this thing is underpowered with that 3566 chip.not at all what I wanted.

@@CapOlimar I'd like to get retroachievements with real cartridges. Plus, it would be also be able to back up your games/saves if it had one.
@@Zordiak retro achievements would be interesting. I'd imagine adding hardware would make things more expensive, though it'd be pretty cool to have all of that.

The SP would benefit more with the Sega Saturn or Genesis D-pad design to address the disadvantages with fighting games and chaining inputs, and can leverage the fact these buttons are flush
