- The 2024 Paris Olympics are quickly approaching, and with that we’re about to see the fastest swimmers on the planet face off in a wide range of events. So in the runup to these Games let’s take a deep dive into some of the most hotly contested events before the winner is determined for real.
And today we’re going to kick things off with the men’s 100 free. - Sport
Neglected to state that Chalmers won the gold in Rio in 2016 aged 18 AND he won the 100 free at the World Champs last year (didn't compete this year) AND he holds the 100 m World Short Course record for the 100, which he also broke at the end of 2021 AND he came 2nd to Dressell by 0.06 sec in Tokyo after coming off shoulder and heart surgery the year before. He's a racer and his Australian trials win was uncharacteristic of his 100 m racing style with him going out harder than usual and not coming home the way he normally does; appears the back spasm might have made him swim like that and he just had to qualify in the top 2 to make the Olympic 100...which he did. Don't write him off.
He definitely has a chance, but it will be very hard to win. His best weapon is probably his experience, but it’s tough when two people have gone 46 already just this year, and another just matched his PB 47.08 at US trials. All faster than his gold medal winning time last year too. These guys are all very young too, Chalmers is getting older, and a back spasm 5 weeks out is not a great thing to have. It will be interesting, if he can beat this field it will be super impressive.
As an Aussie. It's going to be tough for Kong Kyle. But he will give it 100%. The young ones are always a threat.
@@XwD77 kyle has one of the fastest back half speed, he just lacks a tiny bit of front half speed thats all
@user-nf1us3yk5u Chalmers has more speed than anyone in general, his start is just bad so he has to play catch up the whole race.
@@amkool6135 I think endurance plays a big factor in that - he can sustain his speed for longer or can outlast others who start to fade. I think ppl like Caeleb and Alexy both have more raw speed than Kyle.
This kind of content would be completely absent from swimming CZcams if you weren’t doing it.
These videos are so informative and make me even more hyped for this years Olympics than I already am.
Also, the men’s 100 fly is looking insanely stacked this year as well. Could be an interesting race to take a look at. 🤔
Next to fast times set by athletes,we have to consider some circumstances. How consistent are the swimmers swimming fast times, how is the annual progression of a swimmer and are they able to swim their fastest times when they have to? Therefore David and Pan are my favorites for the gold (personally David, because I love to see him swimming). Just after them Maxime and the 2 US boys, but during an Olympic event a lot can change of course.
Gotta preview the 100 fly!!
Do preview on 100 fly pls
It’s Pan or Popovici.
Chalmers, Giuliano, or Alexy for third.
First two will come home faster because they have less muscle mass, they don’t burn oxygen at the same rate as the other three I mentioned.
Pan and Popovici can go out fast without accumulating large amounts of lactic acid. Not the case for the other three that are significantly more muscular.
They’re better suited for SCM and SCY like Dressel.
would like to see 200IM for both men and women. thanks
CHALMERS
Preview the 4 fr or mile 2 fly or 4x1 free relay plz
Please do a video talking about the 200 or 100 br
Popovici got this in the bag for sure. Especially with the back end being so powerful.
Man, remember 2023 worlds? He'll choke in the Olympics couse of weak mentality and early taper for the European championship where he swam his almost best times
@@nikitashevchenko105 he didn't taper for European Champs, and weak mentallity... I don't think so about Popovici, he's a super mature athlete + he had an off year in 2023 to complete school, now that he's finished, he's got more time to focus on Paris
@@SSyllov he's definitely tapered. No one can swim third fastest performance of all time unrested
@@nikitashevchenko105 he already said he didn't taper for the meet, all he did was shave on the day of the final of the 100 free
@@nikitashevchenko105 maybe he could be like a Kaylee Mckeown, and just be able to fire off ridiculous times in season, but I don't think we should doubt him either
Men's medley relay next plz!!!
David Popovici.
Could you cover the 800m and 1500m free for men, the 200m and 400m free for women, and maybe the 10k open water for men?
Just a hunch, while I do not doubt Pan’s skills at all, since this will be his first Olympics I would have to say popovici is ahead of the curve just due to experience, however I could be wrong
It makes sense. Luckily Pan rehearsed a quasi-final in Doha, otherwise u couldn’t be wrong.
It took them 24 years to be a second faster then Pieter van den Hoogenband…
How long will it take to beat the 46.00 seconds barrier??
that will take a while 🤣
David is my friend lol
Womens 200 fly!
we're gonna need the 1500 unless you've already made it. thx
Next event: 200 free
Could we see a 400 IM or a 200 Fly or 200 Breast
Popovici might have slight advantage as he could potentially surf off of the other swimmer’s wave
400 free women
Okay here's my predict 1. Popovici 2. Chalmers 3. Pan
Yeah I could see that.
Chalmers is probably limited at 47.0 or so, he doesn’t go out in 22, he can’t close fast enough to make up the distance.
His style in the 100 LCM is weird, he doesn’t try to back half in the 100 SCM.
We haven’t seen anything from him this year that makes us believe he’ll go 46.8 or faster.
Kyle is in great form...
I'm saying Popovici, just because Pan doesn't really have that experience of being in a major final like the Olympics

Can you review the 200 breast
1
100m breaststroke
i'll have grousset as the dark horse here. He swam a 47'3 at french trials with a relatively slow field to back him up (the 2nd place finisher swam a 48'1), smashing his PB of 47'42 from last year's worlds. Moreover, he's the world champion in the 100 fly and he's known for swimming much slower at french trials than at international competitions. So I personally think he can smash the current french national record of 46'94 and win gold here.
Other than that, I think we could have popovici or pan swimming one hell of a time and it would incredible to see those two swim head to head when they're at their peak.
Make a video about the men’s 100 breast.
If chalmers worked in his start, entry and underwater just a little hed be 46.5
Caeleb Dressel will mog everyone in the relay
I know that you are american, but not put Chalmers in this comparation chart is non sense.
Remember that your viewers are not just americans.
And I'm saying this and I'm not even australian.
He gave Chalmers fair weight he even said don't weigh him out don't know what you're talking about
🥇Popovici
🥈Pan
🥉Chalmers
second
Personally I have 1. Popovici 2. Alexy 3. Pan
If it comes down to a race in thw last 25m kyle chalmers wins it
Since Chinese swimmers are aloud to use doping, I don’t see this becoming a tight race….
Drugs for the win! If Pan wins or gets a medal, everyone will know why. If anyone else wins, it'll be a win for antidopers.
that's not a fair assumption. You're discrediting the current world record holder without any evidence to back up your statement. Something is seriously wrong with you.
Pan never tested positive
Good thing your opinion is greatly valued.
Pan was not one of the swimmers in the recent controversy
Pan will win 🏆, wiping his boots on haters.
How much drags has Pan pumped into his body?
@@weanzen1107 how much dirt has been instilled in your mind?
@@lucienma4638Caeleb will mog the Pan
@@alexstark9071 I don’t deny you the right to daydream.
@@lucienma4638 caeleb has the rizz and the reaction time
