100 year ban of swimming in Siena was for reason. The river in basically one huge public toilet. If I were one the athletes who had to swim there, I would be very concerned.

This will be the 100th year since Paris last hosted the summer games. It was hosted in 1924, they know it, and I hope it will be epic. I was in Paris in 2023, I have my refrigerator magnet of Paris 2024 Olympic.

So excited Olympic Games in Paris 2024 !?
This was more a tourist video than a preparing for the Olympics video. Are all the athletes staying in the Palace of Versailles? I didn't see any preparations for triathletes who have to swim in the Seine: not to mention the price-tag for cleaning it up. Friends in Paris will be leaving the city. Prices have sky-rocketed.
The female triathletes will catch some crazy UTI's from that water
@@mariatanya3533 And the male athletes will catch something else entirely. Sperm production will be at an all time low. ;-)
At the moment, the Olympic village is ready and looks really good. It was built in the poorest department around Paris so that the whole village could be occupied by people who really need it and improve life in these areas after the Games.
As for the quality of the Seine (you can see the Paris City Council's reports on water quality online), it meets the criteria for bathing in the last few days, and will be cleaner than the water in Rio and certainly cleaner than in Tokyo (these two cities also had problems because it is difficult to achieve good quality in open water swimming). On the other hand, as far as the cost is concerned, you might wonder if it's worth it, but it's not just for the games, biodiversity is back in the Seine (species of fish that haven't been seen for a long time, for example), and the locals will also be able to swim next year. Still expensive tho 💁♂
As for the prices, I'm not sure what's changed for the locals because I think it'll affect tourists more.
On the other hand, it's true that having built everything in the city takes up a lot of space and for the few weeks before the Games, if you live in certain parts of Paris, it's a pain. But it's a once-in-a-century event
When you see the welcome and the torch relay in Paris (and the whole of France), you can see that people are happy to welcome the Games.
I hope that helped, it's a difficult subject but it's also interesting, it's funny to see the international reports that see everything as perfect and the French media that are more pessimistic, the reality is probably somewhere between the two

The price have increased for tourist : landlords can't change the rent in Paris (cap per sqm since 2017) + subway tickets does not chnage for card holders (I don't have a card and bought tickets in advance) + there were many tickets below 70€ and many offered to residents... not to see gym or athletism. But most of my friends have tickets
Some prefer to leave, that's ok. I will come back for it. Also, August is often empty in paris every year !
As for the Seine, it is not a question of swimming only but biodiversity. For the first time in 100 years, the Seine can have life in ! The porject was started 20years ago by Agence de l'Eau (Local water agencies are powerful in France)
