This only works if you first mount the master cylinder upside-down also, or else it can't pump fluid from the reservoir. But you can probably bleed them by placing the car on one side and bleeding the bottom brake cylinder, followed by placing the car on the opposite side and again bleeding the bottom brake cylinder.

I had a friend who's boyfriend did this. She called me to come over to figure out why they didn't have any brake pedal.
I figured it out in their driveway. They didn't want me to swap the calipers from side to side so I just took them off and held the caliper so the bleeder was up while gravity bleeding. I put the calipers back on. The brakes worked fine. It was an old 70's car and ready for the graveyard so I doubt that anyone else ever saw that the calipers were on the wrong side.
On another adventure A different friend called me and asked me to come over to "help" her boyfriend put disk brake pads on the front of her car. I got there just in time to see him smear that blue packet of anti squeal compound all over the friction side of the pad. (he clamed that is how he always did brake jobs.) I told him he had ruined the pads but he just wiped it off and put them together anyway. I later talked to my friend and she confirmed that the brakes were "very grabby" smh

The purpose of "bleeding" is getting air out. Common sense tells you that air travels upward through fluid not down, so while it may seem like an easy mistake or not a big deal at the time, putting the calipers on the wrong side, you will never get a good bleed with the bleed screw below the line. So for proper function it is very vital to make sure that you get the right caliper on the right side.
