  • We've discovered over 5000 exoplanets so far, so where are planets like ours? Where are the Earth-like planets of science fiction? Why haven't we found another habitable world?

In this video, I discuss the methods of finding exoplanets with a specific focus on discovering Earth-like exoplanets. We discuss 3 of the most successful methods of detecting exoplanets - Direct Imaging, Radial Velocities/Doppler Spectroscopy and the Transit (Photometry) Method. We then discuss the biases of the Transit Method towards large planets orbiting close to their star. We finish by discussing the study of exoplanet atmospheres using Transit Spectroscopy.
