Yes! When I was 4 years old, a female Siamese chose me as her human. From that point forward, I've had a Siamese can in my home, since retired and not subject to moving about the country. They are so damn smart, it's scary. I have a male Siamese and his side kick at the house. Siamese cats do way better with a friend. And, I realize a Siamese views a closed door, as a challenge..... They do not forget that challenge and work diligently for success. LMAO. They are constant entertainment.

@David Wanklyn Oh, yes. That's about how it is to get in and out of our basement, which he's not allowed due to ongoing renovation. Once in a while, we let him and his buddy, who is now part of his conspiracy, passed and chase him about the basement for a few minutes. The thing is, he knows he can't pass the line of any exterior door and never has, even with the door open: he just sits there. But we still take every precaution to ensure he won't get out of the house.
We wire tie our lower kitchen cabinets since he's figured out how to open those doors: 1) grab the bottom and pull, 2) lay on his back, grab the bottom of the door, with both paws and pull, 3) stand on hind legs, hook the top of the door, with both paws, and walk backwards.
The funny thing is, he knows it's big trouble to enter said cabinet and doesn't. He opens them for the sake of doing so, as part of his territory security check! It happens in the middle of the night and every afternoon.
Even with the wire ties, (nothing but produce or bread wire ties from the grocery store) he works those selected cabinets for days, until he has success. Then, he waits for us to diddle about in the kitchen, and opens the cabinet. It's his game so we play along.
Siamese are the breed to have, if you truly love cats. They make life fun.

Mine lived to almost 20yrs, this August he would have been. My husband and I, who met in high school, adopted him in college. He was the only Flame Point in his litter. I called him my velcro cat as he was always by my side following me as soon as I got up. We made the toughest but best decision to let him go and be at peace a few months ago in April. This is pretty spot on for our Siamese-Tabby mix. We adopted him and his sister as feral kittens last summer. A few weeks ago we went on a trip for the weekend and when we came back we had a trip to the vet ER. He has FLUTD - stress induced UTI basically. So we can't leave him alone or risk him having it again!
He also steals everything, even the toddler's cars that are bigger than my fist. He is super affectionate, loves cuddles, and is always talking. And fetches!

I got my first Siamese 40 years ago. It was a part Siamese. I named him Pooky. We were inseparable. He lived 19 years. I was heartbroken. I bought a full blood Siamese kitten. She was registered. Whiter than tge other in her markings. She was so smart. She walked on a leash. She minded me when I would say get down, sit, lay down. She had a word for me maaaamaaa. Tuna was Meh.
She would go to cupboard and say meh.
She went to Colorado with us and our daughter’s family who had a gray tabby. We put them both on leashes and hooked to our clothes line. It let them play safely without being eaten by a bear or other meat eater. They loved the mountains. Siamese are cat people and love humans. I have an elderly Siamese who was a rescue now. I got her as a year old from the pound. She is 17. I’m now 75. Guess she is my last baby.

I rescued my Siamese/Tabby cross when she was 2 years old. She's now almost 9. Although she looks like a grey tabby (profile pic), she acts like a Siamese. She's very chatty, extremely smart, insanely curious. She wants to be involved in everything I do... such as unpacking groceries, making the bed, cleaning anything, and doing crafts. She "needs" to see in all the bags and closets, and behind all doors. She shows me a new aspect of her personality/character daily. She's a blast! I would have loved to be able to leash train her, but she was incredibly resistant right from the start. I am considering getting the fluent pet buttons... I'm pretty sure she would pick them up quickly. When I first rescued her, she learned to ring a bell (in just 4 tries), to go on the outside balcony deck.

At 71 now, I've had Siamese cats since the age of 3. If you want a trophy cat, not one that you love more than life itself, just don't. Cats in general aren't for you and you will not find it at all rewarding and neither will they.
I've raised Siamese kittens to sell, but the kittens were always in our home with us, playing and enjoying the run of the house. One of the greatest Siamese cats we ever had was from the first litter of some of the most beautiful Siamese I've ever seen. He was a 22 lb. gentle giant and the most "human" cat I've ever known. Toddlers? Not to worry. I've got photos of this guy with a toddler rolling back and forth across the top of the poor thing without the slightest hint of anger or even discomfort. At night, we could tell him and his dad that it was time for bed and they'd trot off to bed. Many tears when he died 18 years later.
My current little girl is the Savannah in my icon, a cross between Siamese and an African Serval. She goes literally everywhere with me and demands attention like no other cat I've ever had. Cats like that reward you by treating you as their equal (most of the time) and she keeps me alive.
But as I said, if you aren't a cat person, don't get one. Please don't get one.

I agree. I love cats as long as they are someone else's cat. But I am not a cat person and would never have one again. I grew up with a Siamese cat and had one when I was in my 20's, but Zachery was a dog in a cat suit (meaning he was more mannered like a dog than a cat). But I am firmly a dog person and I know it. Cats are wonderful - if you are a a cat person. 🙂

His grandma a full seal point Siamese, who went out and partied one night and had a litter of black kittens, my cats mom was one of this litter. She was mated with a full seal point Siamese, resulting in the birth of my B.B. Totally black but had every trait described in this vedio. B.B. was an amazing cat smart, playful, talked your ear off, did everything you did and was crazy about my husband and me. She was wonderful in every way yet uniquely different than the others. She was very talkative and sweet though on her terms and she bonded with one person. There was nothing malicious or mean or bad about her whatsoever. I think if you perceived her incorrectly you might feel rejected but she was just naturally independent and trouble free in every way.

When I was born, we all lived with my grandparents on their farm. My grandmother had a pure bred Siamese at the time, and my memory of him is of a very gentle, quiet kitty, who would lay on my lap while I sat in my grandfather's rocking chair. Years later, my grandmother told me that the women on the neighboring farms were scared of him because of his voice, and they no doubt thought that he would certainly steal my breath while I slept in the crib. He started my lifelong love of Siamese. All that I've had were rescues, and only two, brothers Doug and Dinsdale, had classic Siamese coloring. Currently, I still have Dinsdale (as seen in my avatar), Rosie (lynx point), and Hermione (snowshoe).

I've rescued dozens of Siamese kitties living in a large colony in a industrial park. 2 Siamese were dropped off 10 years earlier per a person having a business in the park.
I completely fell in love with the breed. Some of the mixed ones were Siamese tabbies and they are really a super mixed breed as well. I don't regret one moment of rehoming kittens and some adults that became tame too. Others went to farms and good outdoor living areas. I worked with a large local cat rescue.

I adopted a snowshoe Siamese from a shelter. Purebred that came from a backyard breeder. I was pleasantly surprised to find that she has proven all the naysayers who advised against a siamese to be wrong. She barely ever makes a peep, and then only a tiny squeek. She uses her scratching pads frequently and has never scratched on any of my furniture. She REALLY doesn't like being high. Won't even go to the top two levels of her cat tree. Very playful and a bit grumpy at times. Is my daily routine timekeeper .... not that I asked for one! Super loyal and very friendly with other humans. Hates other cats. She is the queen and my retired life is apparently quite to her liking however she does get annoyed if I have a busy day and am gone for most of it. Her disapproving scowl says it all! If I have several away from home busy days in a row she does get depressed. Perhaps Snowshoe Siamese are a bit better tempered or maybe I hit the jackpot. Either way, I wouldn't trade her for all the world.

I’ve got a chatty cat, and he’s not Siamese! He’s a Scottish Fold, and I rescued him when he was older. Didn’t know he was a Scottish Fold, till I took him to the veterinarian for a thorough checkup. This cat found me at my parent’s home that was very rural at the time. Very friendly kitty, and we’re pretty sure someone dumped him. He’s my baby now!

Another point : don't get a siamese if you want a quiet cat. They are very, very, VERY VOCAL ! They are purring machines, but also meowing machines. They are super loud, but in a good way because it's to show affection and not to purposely annoy you 🥰

I agree Siamese are super intelligent and very talkative. They are like a small child that needs lots of attention and affection. Zoomies are an understatement. They want to tell you about their day and be treated as part of the human family. If you are looking for a self-caring cat that all you do is feed and scoop its litter box, neither one of you will be happy.

When I was 11 years old my parents surprised me with a Siamese cat they adopted. I named her Sabrina (after “Sabrina the Teenage Witch”).
Sabrina (aka Bina) was agile, nimble & sharp as a tac until her very last day. When I was age 34, Sabrina passed away. I’ll always appreciate the *23 years* of furry love & friendship she gave our family. You may have to work a little harder to earn their love (in my experience) but it’s worth it. 🩵

I've had a female Siamese for 3-1/2 years now as well as a large male grey cat, she has been mostly great, does have one annoying trait, sometimes when he uses the litter box she backs her ass up to the edge and pees over the edge onto the floor. Then realizing her mistake she "fixes" it by scooping a gallon of litter out of the box onto her puddle. But she has a great personality but I think having two cats help as the other cat provides some outlet for her energy.

I was owned by a half-Siamese. Best. Cat. Ever. She was raised with dogs and thought she was one. She loved hot baths and was very vocal.
I was a little hesitant about how she would behave when I brought home my firstborn, since every encounter with small children up to that point would put her on top of the kitchen cabinets. When I introduced her to my son the look in her eyes said, "I guess this one is ours...". She was marvelous with him and would never bite or scratch even when he was toddler-tough with her.
A cross-country move had us living in a temporary apartment. She disappeared one day. Eight days later I had all but given up hope when she showed up on the doorstep. I'm sure she used up at least one of her nine lives on that adventure!
