My favorite is v6 or v8
The underrated D16 for cheap mods and easy to build to 300hp in a 2200lb body.
The Detroit Diesel V8 for the longevity and sound.
V8 powaaaaaaah!!!
12
Depends on the situation I guess. But my preference would be v8, inline 6, rotary, v6, inline 4

Brad: Do you want a video about weird engines?
Me: HELL YEA!!! 💪🐴
Just get a 5.3 from the junkyard for 500 bucks. Go through it check all the main and crank bearings, if your good, gap the rings, slap it back together maybe with a cam. Slap a turbo to it. Don't spend 9k on a blueprint or crate one.
When he talks about the i6 engines it makes me wanna put a turbo in my 03 gmc envoy 4.2L i6 😂
Do it

That engine (if built carefully) can push 2J/Barra hp according to a few things I've seen
You can pick up all Aluminum ls motors any day of the week. Super easy to tune, dead nuts reliable, and lighter than almost every other thing he spoke about. LS engine swap kits are available for just about every vehicle out there. I'm no V8 nutbag, I've done a lot of engine swap, I cringe every time I hear this kind of mis-information. Try getting a good tune for your built RB or 2jz. Been there, done that, wasted a tone of money.
People think that since these cars are so popular there’s a ton of aftermarket support for them but in reality there aren’t that many out there
What you think about the flying miata swap? I feel like that would be so sketchy and so fun on a circuit.
There's nothing like a 1.3l DORITO!!!! Going to 10000+ RPM
Doritos go brat brat. Rat brat like they are taunting thier compitition.
I mean tbh I would chose the k20a coz it revs to 8700rpm stock and cheaper to maintain but man that brap brap brap is amazing tho
They are making 10000rpm 1uz engines btw i love the spinning dorito.
@@snotty_boi8248 people make 11k rpm k20

LS is almost always the answer LOL
Straight 6 are better engines you just been brain washed by bald eagle v8 s
@@timsmith8242 Even though you can boost LS engines, I like normally aspirated.
@Tim Smith I've been brain washed because I like a specific engine
ok
V8s are better than any 6 cylinder anyday
@GodzillaFan 2019 do u count in F1 engines as well?
I've been waiting for Ideal to upload; amazing, as always!
Flat-4 banger for life (or until I actually have money and time)
This could be a Friday morning chat every week. Lots to discuss. I’m learning a lot.
All swaps are good. They really just depend on what you are building the car for. Wether it'd be for fun or all the way to tight racing regulations. All swaps are good in their own way so it really boils down to taste and needs.
Says the MR2 has an "itty bitty engine bay" yet the most common mod for them is to swap a 3.5L V6 into it 😂
The 2.3T Saab B235R engine is also a pretty good tuner engine. They’re cheap, reliable and relatively easy to mod for so much power ik talking 600+ chp
Damn the music of those engines iss soooo goood
Brad your awesome guy an I love your awesome videos...I drive big semi trucks but I grew up racing Datsuns an yes I had the fastest 280zx in line 6...an yes they are the fastest 🐺🐺🐺 thankyou for your awesome videos bro 🐺👍
Sounds like you’ve had them all, the long, the short and the tall!
V8 all day long but the information clear the discussion between my kid and i boutthe engines sizes and power thank you
911 flat six is always a treat!
I am late to the party thank you for this video I needed it great information 🙌
I've recently been really interested in the Volkswagen flat plane crank W8 that they put in the late 2000's Passat. I think one of those would be beautiful in an MR2 or an old Escort ZX2 or something
my absolute favorite engine is the vw 1.8t
This video made me happy since I have an inline 6
I think the Honda J-Series should've made the V6 list. Some of the most reliable and potent little engines out there for pretty cheap.
Acura TL Type-S V6 motor is great.
Could you put an Acura 355 hp into a 2011 honda accord coupe really tryna soup up my 2 door
@@natthaphonnoble7946 If you're referring to the new J30 turbo in the TLX & MDX Type S, yeah, you could fit it. With time, resources, and money, you can do any build you want. But, that motor is not a crate engine right now, so kinda have to buy one of the cars to get it. With the market, that's like $70k+, then to swap it in and make everything fit and work blah blah blah, at least, at least another $20k. So for that, I'd just buy the TLX type s if you want that motor and power. Or boost your current motor, the J35 does great with superchargers and even fully built NA. It all comes down to time, resources, and money.
I got a j37 MDX engine for free.. but it’s got a dead cylinder 1 lol
I got a 98 accord v6, took out the stock j30 and swapped in the 01-02 mdx j35a3 with a 6spd lsd CL-S trans… with the basic intake, headers, and 3in exhaust piping to dual exhaust, I’ve manage 13.3 at 108mph. On stock CL-S ecu and crappy China made tires. I’ve gotten tired of that so I built my own turbo kit, built the engine, slapped on a haltech 2500 elite ecu, and now it’s pushing 535whp at 12psi… neck breaker.. Jseries power!! I still have my oem high compression longblock sitting in the garage.. the 13sec one..
First all motor built I’ve spent $2k.. junkyard parts and hand down parts and upgrade parts.
Second built cost me roughly cost to $10k.. ecu, turbo, dif engine, engine parts..
Labor cost sweat, blood, and girlfriends bank account..
V8 for life baby! 🤘
big fan of the i6 in just about any application from the 4.9 in my f150 to the full range of the BMW i6's
sup man love your vids
Best part of the ecoboost is they are tuned for the 'most horsepower out of the least fuel burnt' these motors can be re-tuned for 70hp gains from just a full stock motor.
Lets not forget one of the biggest staple cars to be released in past few decades that had a v6, the r35. It's been the product of some of the fastest 1/4 mile, roll racing, and 60-130 times in existence for any street car. At the end of the day engineering can make or break. Overall I would agree that the In line 6 is the best quick pick option though.
You can get a 500+hp LS based engine for well below 9 grand that's what made them so popular. Buying a junkyard ls truck engine for a few hundred bucks, swapping the cam and adding a blower with a tune and you will be putting down over 500HP for well under that $9k price. If youre looking for the LS1/2/3/6/7 variants then yeah 9 grand is what you'll be looking at (maybe not the LS1/2/6 variants anymore, their prices have dropped considerably since the LS3 became so common) but most LS swaps are pulling the engines out of Silverados, Tahoes, Suburbans, and Yukons
My little 2012 Mustang GT only puts out a touch over 1,000whp. That VMP Gen 3 blower helps.
It’s a shame you missed the 4.3 liter from GM, it’s a great tunable engine. Push rod V6 literally GM sawed 2 cylinders off of the 5.7 V8. It’s literally indestructible, referencing the Typhoon or the Cyclon builds by Chevrolet and GM in the early 90’s.
My 2 cents for what it’s worth.
Even better is the LV3, which is a 2014+ LS-based version of the same idea.
For rear wheel drive I choose an rb25 neo in a laurel cuz a anything Toyota in my country is pretty expensive...... But for a front wheel set up I will go a j32 in a Honda accord
Btw about the super car please 🙏 consider the Ferrari FF is a practical hatchback v12 cool looking relatively modern supercar I beg u,I wud love to see it on the channel🙏
Ideal Media on Top
Have only owned a straight 6 tt bimmer, a v6 Infiniti and a 4 banger turbo Audi. Really would love to get into a German or US v8 just to see what it feels like.
4 and 6 way to go
More than 8 are made for music
I want to know about unusual engines
I love Ideal Cars
See im just swapping a stock supercharged v6 from a gtp and then i have a generally well balanced engine for my tj. Decent (better than the stock I6) fuel economy. About 80 or 90 more hp and its built more for torque because its a supercharger which is what i want for offloading. I dont want to have to worry about turbo lag.
VR6 - same length of a I4 with the displacement of a V6.
New sub.
Keep it up
I do drive a V6 Camry. XLE V6 to be exact but just be clear I have no plans or means to modify a Camry or take it to shows it's just my daily. Besides I have VW Beetle that I put in shows and worth putting money into.
I'll simplify this. What are the two most commonly swapped engines? The Honda K-Series and the LS series. The reason being that they have the best combo of every one of these categories.
i heard an engine builder say a ls was the easiest car to get to 1000hp. Tho here in Australia i got told the ford barra that came in the falcons was the cheapest 1000hp car. tho the vl commodores had the rb30 but the only way your getting a half decent motor under 10k (aud) is buying a patrol lol.
All engines are great in their own way
My v6 3800 series 2 is all the tuning goodness I will ever need
My favorite engine is a small block ford V8 twin turbo
4G63T for the win! 🏆 🏁
Yeah... 2000+BHP out of a 4 cylinder
@lscansir cured I had a daily drive 5 years with 500bhp and stock internals... the title said " best for tuners, swaps and mods.. granted there's not many 4G63's with over 2000bhp .but they do exist and usually nothing much touches them!check CZcams 👍
@lscansir cured you need to just type "2000 bhp Evo " in CZcams.... see for yourself. Impressive 👍 and do exist.
V6 deserves way more love. VQ/VR isn't the only option out there guys, the J series Honda motors are like more torque-oriented VQs with roughly the same stock limits as a junkyard 5.3. Even better is that they're just as common since J35s come in some of the most common cars in America. They'll also balance better than a V8 or straight 6, too.
And if you want that in an American flavor that's derivative of the LS, look at the roughly 2014+ LV3 motors. It's not like the older 4.3 V6s that were based on 1st and 2nd gen 350 Chevy small blocks, the LV3 has as much power stock as the 5.3s found in 07-13 Silverados and can put down 600+hp on stock internals, just the same.
Oh this should be good. If it's not an LS then I disagree 😂😂😂😂
Like this type of content. Thanks
LS is always the answer
The 5.0 Coyote engine is wider than a 502 Chevrolet. BTW the best LS engine is the 6.0 iron block. Building one with a big Procharger blower. Looking at 1,500whp in a Buick G Body.

Wow in-line 12’s picture that

It's tiny light and makes more hp than my hemi 😭

what about upgrading a hyundai genesis 4 doors can i make something good out of it or its a waste of time and money
There is no best engine. Tbh all engines are good no matter how you build them. I have seen 4 bangers beat V8s. So really its all up to the driver
A 3 roater Wankle (rotary) would be sweet,
if anyone is wondering the first clip (the honda) is life of od boat motor swap in a car
What do you tink about 2.0 tfsi from a5 ?
My ideal pick is an inline 6 or V6 then to the straight 4
V8 is best no question.👌
Everyone has their own opinion to best tuner engine type. It just comes down to which one you want to stick into your car.
I have a couple of questions: the hire number of torque a car has the more power the car has and does that mean it's less stress on the engine going faster also if a engine has a turbo engine do they intend to last longer than a engine that isn't a turbocharge engine .So if a vehicle comes in a 4 cylinder turbo engine or a 6cylinder which should a person buy .
A few things;
1. Higher torque does not always mean more power. Power is calculated using work (torque) x time (rpms). A car can make very little torque, like a B16 Civic, but still make ok power. Conversely, some old tractor motors make like 24 horsepower, but well into the 200ftlbs of torque.
2. No, engine stress comes from a lot of different factors. Heat is one of the biggest. In *general* a motor that turns higher RPMs will produce more heat (more friction, more explosions, less time to dissipate the heat) but that's not the entire picture.
3. Should you buy an i4t or a v6? It depends entirely on what you want to do with it. Modern turbocharged cars are very efficient and last a long time. Modern v6 cars are also very efficient and last a long time. The limiting factor is usually the rest of the car.
I want to drive that Brutus more than any other car. 47 liter (not a typo) fire breathing monster. I neeeeeed it.
It's load as f*ck though😂😂. I'm with your by the way. It'd be an awesome experience.
F22c baby!!
Yes do a video on weird engines
I honestly think the ecoboost in-line 4s are slept on.. used fusion 2l turbos are cheap af and make 240-252 out of the box
Lol that’s not a lot or impressive that’s literally just the bare minimum at this point for most modern cars
@@A77738 compare the price to anything he just listed on here and yea that is? 700$ motor that can do 420 wheel easily with just a turbo upgrade. Small and light weight so it can fit almost any vehicle. My comment still stands.
Put in 5 different mass produced vehicles which makes parts cheap af to add to that.. Makes it very slept on...
Have you guys ever seen a deltic engine? I don't think they've ever been used in cars though.
Also, Honda made an i6 powered *motorcycle.* The cbx1000 is a strange and magnificent machine.
Sounds like an F1 car too😁

No 2JZ.?
Power to weight is the key
Hittin with that ol gran turismo adage... Love it but basic facts are basic facts. There's no replacement for displacement
The new Honda accords do not come with a compact V6.. only 2.0 / 2.5 turbo charged engines for newer accords

Ls swap the world boi
Fourbanger with variable valve timing 😁
Eh. Sure, you can tune a I4 for super high rev but the question you have to ask is this: you want to drive it or work on it.
So, me personally, I rather have a large, low revving engine that spends less time in a garage, more on the road.
Oh, and those Toyota Camry XSE stock can give any tuner a run for their money… and tuned with force inductions makes perfect sleepers.
