- Could a Ferrari 458 be a future addition to the collection!? My friend Christian from BOTB, has bought his dream car and stops by @TheShmuseum to talk all about it. My first CZcams video featured a 458 Italia, there's just something about it, what about a 458 in the future?!
Christian is well known for regularly surprising the winners of BOTB competitions with their prizes, however this time around he's now bought his very own dream car in the form of the Ferrari 458 Spider. Having long considered one for my own collection considering my first ever CZcams video featured a 458 alongside a Lamborghini Murcielago SV, it's the perfect opportunity to get back behind the wheel for the first time in 7 years, and a reminder of what it's all about.
After the red prancing horse arrives at the stable, let's talk about what it means to him, why the 458 was his dream and what's it like to now own it. Then we head out for a drive, swapping around along the way, for me to see if it's right to add to the Shmeemobiles one day.

The 458 Italia was THE PERFECT supercar of its time, it had the looks, the hp, the sound, the driving dynamics and ofcourse it was rwd.
And don’t forget the fact it’s N/A !
I drove one, the gallardo superleggera 570 was a better and more fun car to drive. Didn't find the 458 anywhere near as engaging as the lambo
The 458 is faster and has a better driving dynamic but honestly it's not got the feel of being connected like that superleggera
@@Kieran_OPC Sorry I vehmently disagree with your statement, the Gallardo Superleggera felt heavy for what it is and handling was nowhere near the 458 and this is something I can say after driving the two cars back to back.
@@Kieran_OPC nope.gallardo was not fast at acceleration and also its handling was not good as a 458....
Lamb gallardo is a good car but 458 italia was gallardo and mp 12 c killer....
@@Kieran_OPC it may be spider , which was 100 kg heavier was slower than gallardo but italia is a beast

The 458 it's amazing, especially the Speciale! A friend from Monaco has been using his Speciale Novitec as a daily for years and never gets sick of the car and never had any problems! Definitely a great addition to the collection!
Btw Christian’s level of contentment with the 458 is what happens when you truly find your dream car...no matter what other car he is in or near the 458 is perfect to him (and so many others)...love to see it

The 458 Has to be one of the best cars ever made. It would be amazing to see one in the collection
Love the 458 now. I remember thinking its design started to look dated really quickly, but now those simple, clean lines have helped age the car really well (especially when compared to the fussy looking cars that followed - F8 particularly). In fact I think it looks great now in any variant but of course the 458 Speciale is the stuff of dreams.

The joy in Christian is what I'm looking forward to when I finally get one myself and see his excitement you can tell it's all about the car and well done to achieving your goal.
The Speciale is still among one of the best looking Ferraris ever made, you should add a 458 Speciale Aperta in a colour other than red

If you thought Speciales were stupid money, don't look at Apertas. There's an entire one for sale in Europe. And out of the 499, only 49 are RHD. No, get a regular Spider and glam it up with an obnoxious exhaust system.
you do realise an aperta in the UK market is north of £550K

The 458 is the first supercar i ever saw. I was 3 years old that time. Its the reason i got into cars. Would definitely be an amazing addition to the garage 👍

One of the biggest highlights from this video...apart from the 458's beauty and sound 👌 is Christian's generosity and kindness ❤️ what a lad!

You can tell how much Christian loves that car... its nice to see when someone truly loves the car they own, no matter what car it is.
I'll say this without watching the video first Tim, the 430 and the 458 are 2 of my most desired cars ever, I'd have either in my collection in a heartbeat.

What a beautiful car! I drove a 458 (coupe) on a racetrack for a few laps and it was an amazing experience. From the jewel like feel of the steering wheel to the sound to the pinpoint response of the chassis, it's really what a sports car is supposed to be.
Absolutely love the 458! Love that sound! One of my favorite newer Ferraris. Just behind the F12 TDF. Tim, you should definitely add one to the Shmuseum! In red, white, or blue would work.

Drove the yellow 458 Italia from Maranello Motorsport back in May 2018.
Adding one to your collection is a no-brainer. This is the last proper "old-school" engined Ferrari and a real blast. Everyone with a supercar collection should have this car in my opinion.

That blue with silver wheels truly makes yours the best looking SF90 I ever seen, and it's in the top 3 of my favourite Shmeemobiles - The red 458 does look so good next to it & sounds awesome ..must be very tempting
I agree. When that plate went on, it looked like it had been born there. The contrast of the "Electric" blue (pun intended) and the classic Ferrari red look so good as a pair.

Drove a 458 Italia through the countryside of Italy. Amazing sounds and views. That 9,000 RPM redline was sensational.

first time I seen and heard a 458 was exactly 6 years ago today and I just fell in love, favorite ferrari of all time.
im 21 now and i've loved this car ever since i saw it come out. my absolute dream car
I love the fact that shmee does all his test drives on the road behind my house, so I always hear and see the cars.
Back in early April I was driving in a similar situation as you. I was in a Boxster S headed up to Seattle, top down, about 55F temp outside and it started to drizzle. Staying at or slightly above the speed limit it just flowed over the car with only a little bit dripping in over the top of the side windows. After a while I noticed it looked much worse up ahead, so I pulled over to the side of the highway and put the top up. I'm glad I did because a couple minutes later it was a proper downpour. About 20 minutes or so later the top was back down and for the rest of the trip it only went back up when I was parking.

458 spider in black with tan leather still my dream car. Drove one at Goodwood and on the road. So easy to drive and love the design. Still looks fresh and unfussy

My neighbor has a 458 Speciale and he also says that people call him many names while he's driving. But just like Christian said, he says the same thing 'I'm sat in the seat of a Ferrari that I worked my ass off to buy. I don't care what people think or say'

I think a 458 (especially the spider for the most immersive experience) shouldn’t be missing in a collection like yours! First dual clutch Ferrari, the engine with multiple engine of the year awards and the last N/A V8 Ferrari ever made. And if you put on a Novitec exhaust you have F1 for the road. If I were you I’d definitely buy one!
