THIS is the New FERRARI 296 GTB! My First Drive

- This is the new Ferrari 296 GTB, and everything you want to know about it! From a full in-depth walkaround to hot laps on track and driving on mountain roads. It's a serious bang for buck with 830hp and the new hybrid V6, to join me to discover it in detail.
Kicking off in Spain, let's take a walkaround of the new 296 GTB to see Ferrari's latest supercar, a new position for them in many ways offering the fully rear-driven hybrid setup featuring their new 'Piccollo V12' (little V12) engine. The stats are extraordinary with 830CV (819bhp) and 740Nm, and the eManettino offering a host of modes including a full electric drive.
The design takes inspirations from classic Ferraris such as the 250 LM and 246 Dino, with the aerodynamics at play more subtly integrated, for example the retractable spoiler that tucks away into the rear of the car. The ideology for the 296 GTB is very much 'fun to drive' and out on the roads near Monteblanco circuit, it certainly is.
Upon return to the track, we can explore the Assetto Fiorano version; an optional upgrade pack to make it more dynamic on circuit with a change to the suspension and use of lighter weight components, before getting out there to drive it in anger.
There is no question that Ferrari have yet again produced an astonishing car, sitting beneath the SF90 Stradale, and offering a different driving experience, while also differing from that of the F8 Tributo too.
Thanks for watching, Tim

It sounds really good in the video. I love what Ferrari is doing here with the hybrids. I think this is the future that we need instead of all electric.
Indeed I feel the same. Ferrari has done a miracle, they went and created the perfect mix of both worlds. This is actually the best supercar in the modern era, when a full electric Ferrari would not be that different of a Taycan or a Tesla or even a Rimac. The Ferrari magic would be gone and the Ferrari name would lose its very meaning. And all we have to thank for are those mf stupid politicians that dont know shit about technology nor industry at all and they think they can actually manage instead of all engineers and all those who actually know how. Time they get off our backs already
They are right to call it picolo v12. I think it really does have a similar sound to v12's. I have never expected that to sound so good. Yet, I'm not really fond of the design.
not picolo, but piccolo... little V12 in English.
Hate it today, Love it tomorrow is the timeless design of Ferrari.
Um.....V6....
@@KUROSHURA well said
@@harshareddy7857 I didn’t like the California T when it first came out but now I love it.
Didn’t care for the 488 in comparison to the 458 but the 488 looks really good in person. Ferraris just grow in timeless beauty like a fine wine.
It sounds so much like a V12. Ferrari did a great job with the the V6
That’s what I kept thinking , damn that 812 in cabin tone !
The sound - even though muted quite a bit - is so amazing! Its really not lacking anything compared to the V12, except the loudness! The high pitch is crazy! I never thought I would rank the 296GTB that high in my mind! Such an awesome car!
I can’t wait to hear a straight piped one
@@danielmiller1462 exactly what I’ve that as well. 😂👍🏼
@@danielmiller1462 looking at the exhaust set up on this car, it may be difficult to actually change much. I'm sure someone will, I just don't know how much they will actually be able to do. It will be fun to see what tuners do to these smaller powerplants. 600+ horsepower from a small V6 is encouraging for the future.
@@chris_drivefast_diesmiling4898 look any almost any Nissan GT-R. 600 Out of a v6 is easy money they be pushing 1000 very easily
exactly, and the volume of the exhaust is due to emission restrictions, so an aftermarket exhaust will definitely fix this. Can't wait for Novitec to get their hands on this!
I would take a 296GTB over an SF90. I think it’s a more elegant design, and that V6 is a masterpiece; the greatest V6 ever put into a production car.
Ford gt enters chat
@@AlanKalii Not even close. The Ford GT produces 188 hp/Liter and the 296GTB’s V6 produces 221 hp/Liter. It is in fact the most densely powered V6 ever put into a production car.
I don't know if the Lancia stratos is considered a production car but i think that sounds better and the alfa romeo busso v6.
imagine choosing a V6 over a V12 hahaha
The SF90 is really intriguing from a technical point of view. If you take a lot a the engine bay, you see that crankshaft is positioned as low as it can be. The car has an extremely low center of gravity. Also combined with the hybrid system it's an astonishing car. I'm team SF90 here :)
Leave it to Ferrari to make such a delicious sound out of a v6 engine!
I'm amazed
Porsche has some pretty good sounding 6s also
The *Naturally Aspirated V12* might be gone, but *Ferrari* made sure that it's sound lives on. I'm slowly loving the *Ferrari 296 GTB*
23:00 That turbo blow-off sound is so cool.
I am absolutely loving the new Ferrari design language. The SF90 and the 296GTB are my favorite mid engine Ferraris since the 458. Everything is going turbo anyway, so honestly the V6 doesn't bother me one bit. In my opinion it actually sounds better than the turbo V8s. Can't wait to see the no roof version.
The SF90 is growing on me but this one doesn't look or sound like a Ferrari at all imo
@@resetgang6638 the sound doesnt but honestly i feel like this looks more ferrari then a lot of the new ones that have come out lots more design ques from older models like the 308, so not like a recent model ferrari but a modernized old one
I agree with everything you just said. 488 and F8 are not nice looking in my opinion compared to the 458 especially. The SF90 is pretty nice but I LOVE the design of this car, and think it is the best sounding car they have had since the 458, though nothing will ever beat its sound probably.
ferrari is teasing us with an na v12 suv 😂
What about tributo my fav
Wanna say first, but I’m too busy looking at the 296 in the intro. Have to say, it looks very very very beautiful! It’s something that would take the market by storm, for a proper fun GT car, with super car looks!
I totally agree!
It is more a supercar that can do grand touring
Rather than a GT that can be a supercar
@@Shmee150 Thier is a 2023 Callaway 35th Anniversary Edition(B2K) C8 Z51, has a higher pitched exhaust(40lbs lighter), has unique forged wheels(26lbs lighter), carbon fiber trim(side intake, ect.). Purchasing the Callaway 35th Anniversary C8 for it's own merits and mabye a shoe in for the C8 Z06 with the Z07 package and the carbon wheels.
I can’t wait for aftermarket exhausts to make this sound like a louder V12 🔥🔥🔥
This car truly pushes Ferrari into the future, it looks absolutely beautiful with all the curves in the right places. This is the car that everyone will be waiting for and my prediction is going to be this car will continue above its list price raising in price and not depreciating for some time to come.
Thank you for covering this car. I have been waiting for you to do it. I have put my deposit down for this 296 GTB and I can not wait to see it and do a test drive. I have never had a hybrid car so this will be a new experience. You did a great job covering the details which helped me understand the car better. Always love the contents of your videos. Keep up the great job. We are all living vicariously through you, lol Cheers
Technically that polished bit on top is part of the turbo ducting. The car still has crackle red valve covers they are just much further down on the side since this engine is a 120 degree V. Almost a flat-six.
The v6 is interesting.
Ferrari's lineup right now is INSANE!!! Can't wait to see PuroSangue SUV that thing is going to be crazy!!!
So many V6 supercars nowadays. I don't think any of them sound bad but none of them really made me go wow, it sounds awesome. The 296 is a first exception for me.
tim is like superman. flying to the middle east, the us, and europe then rinse and repeat just for content. you are amazing my friend.

Great content my man
Looks very Good tbh
Hope u had a Great time Driving it 🖖
I did!
Thx for outstanding drive !! The styling of this Ferrari is sweeeet. 👍🇨🇦✌️
One of the best looking Ferraris in a long time! Stunning!

Luv the videos. What an amazing experience!
Was very enjoyable to watch, thank you :)
As always amazing video Tim!!!
Thank you!
Great Video Tim as per!!
You had some good fun on this one ;)
Very nice. Good review.
I can see Tim buying one of these, haven't seen him that excited testing a car in a long time
Nice car, thank you for showing us 👍
Nice job Tim!
Lovely car great review.
Perfect video, Tim, right down to the contrasting green sunglasses. Thanks.
Very nice drive/review. A fan of the car
Great video Tim, nice 35 min with a Ferrari
Looks like modern, hybrid version of Ferrari 250 LM. Love the design, beautiful, not too daring. Ah that sound 😍👏
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷, Awesome video, is it an evolution to the 488 GTB ? A 6 cylinder, sounds glorious !
Amazing car. I’m glad Ferrari finally let us understand it’s dynamics
I think the main factor ferrari buyers will consider when buying either the sf90 or the 296 will be awd vs rwd. Not v8 vs v6, or power, or price
Wow ! You are becoming a pro driver!
I’m sold ❤️ just need to win the lottery 😁. I also get the sense Tim is going to include one in his garage in the future. It’s a beautiful car from every angle.
I thought it was a new NSX at first aha! Great video as always
Imagine this as a Targa top!!! 👌
Can't wait for watch 😍🚀
Hope you enjoy
Wow, that sounded awesome and looked a riot.
Incredible 👌
What a car, what a location just brilliant Ferrari really are so good at making cars!
The cab/cockpit has the lines similar to the Lancia Stratos.. Looks Awesome!!
For driving fun related to steering feel on that great technical road you drove on how does the 296 GTB compare to a 718 Porsche GT4?
Beautiful car and sound 😍
The sound is not that bad 🔥🔥
Tim rarely makes bad choices but I think buying an SF90 over a 296 is one of them. The sf90 is a hobbled together high price competitor Ferrari made to make money. The 296 is a true successor to the f8 (even if Ferrari doesn't say so) and it's the best looking Ferrari since the FF and the F12.
296 is 250 pounds lighter. Love the looks of this over the SF90
And the 296 is half the price of the SF90!!
Agree
And the SF90 isn’t very fun to drive either. Feels unfinished
@@Nord_Mann I can't speak to the way either actually drives just what journalists and CZcamsrs have said. The 296 GTB is a baby la Ferrari, an SF90 just seems like an f8 tributo with two generic electric motors slapped on the front.
This thing sounds insane! Especially for a v6
wonderful vehicle wonderful roads wonderful weather .....
damn that looked fun
That's another very pretty Ferrari and looks like it will be a LOT of fun as well. It reminds me of cars like the 308 GTB which was my 'first' Ferrari Poster Car (before the Testarossa and then F40 - I'm 'old' LOL)
I would love a 286 GTB although I do prefer the SF90 - not that I'll ever get to experience what either is like to drive in reality, let alone own, but in terms of 'dream' cars, the 286 GTB would be up there. I love the Hybrid concept and think that should be an 'option' in the future as that would lead to more efficient 'Petrol' engines as well as 'more' efficient cars with much more range - and an existing infrastructure.
You wouldn't need a 'big' Petrol engine in a 'small' cheap, hybrid 'towncar'. A 'smaller', more 'economic' engine could be used to extend 'range' and provide a bit more 'power' when you get out on A roads, motorways etc and 'recharge' the battery on long journeys so you are NEVER required to spend more than a few minutes anywhere - the time it takes to fill a tank and pay. If you run out of Battery on a Motorway, you need to be 'towed' to the nearest working charger and wait an hour or so to have enough 'juice' to get home etc where as in a Petrol car, the 'recovery' can bring a few gallons to get you to the Garage and within minutes, you can be off on your journey....
Great video !
Off topic but It'd be fun watching You go on a road trip in India
Sevilla is a beautiful area, one day would love to drive my own Ferrari around there :)
I think it sounds fantastic, very impressive for a V6.
Love how ferrari have on the sly done away with the 355/360/430/458/488/F8 liniage of cars and no one seems to have batted an eyelid
Lovely looking car
The Ferrari 296 GTB is a amazing car and looks really cool that’s awesome that you got to drive both cars
Beautiful, love it.
That v6 sounds sublime!
Love the high end rev V12 sound
Love the tints on your sunglasses 😎
I'm not normally a fan of Ferrari, even some of the latest ones I've not really liked.... But!... This one.... I'm in love 😍 that car is truly beautiful, every line and curve is perfect! Now This is a Ferrari I would love to own!
calling it, shmee loved the track drive so much, bet hes gonna buy one!
Watching this after we found out he is.
The sound is amazing, serious little v12
Hi, thank you for this excellent and deep review! I have a specific question for you because you drove test it and because you have a Huracan STO. I m interessed between these 2 ones. Which one is more fun to daily drive? Thank you 😉👍
One word Beautiful!!!
Looks a bit like Face lift GT86 from front. Think it has a good balance it seems between speed and handling. Interior dash is really cool with all the info available.
A beautiful car! It would have been interesting for you to take the "regular" variation on the track, so that buyers can see that they can have it all at a reasonable price point. If I were in the market, I would be concerned with reliability over the miles, something that has come up several times by Ferrari admiring posters who then paid a price of ownership. Seems Porsches are more reliable and even McLaren does not have a Ferrari pocketbook ding in your pocketbook as you go down the road. The engineering of this 296 seems fabulous, but reliability is also engineering.
That is only right one a red mid engine Ferrari. That look's great. Must have in Shmee garage.❤👍
What a beautiful car!
Without a doubt, this is my favorite new Ferrari to come along in a long time.
Beautiful design. Small observations. Are the EV cables laying across the turbo’s?
Hey Tim... One must be added to the garage lol, all the best !!!!!
What about a Spider?!
@@Shmee150 yes please 100%
Seems as though Ferrari has embraced the smaller engine/hybrid technology that has become painfully inevitable. 800+ hp from a V6/battery combination is impressive. I hope the future all electric cars can give us the visceral experience and continue to excite with not only the performance but the emotion that comes from using all of your senses. Not a huge fan of the possibility of fake engine noises playing through speakers but in order to have those great experiences driving cars like these, perhaps it's acceptable.
Seems like you really enjoyed the car, Tim. I could see one of these in your collection. At any rate, I must compliment you on your excellent reviews and explanations of all the different vehicles you experience. You're actually very good at it! Cheers, mate!
Shmee, that's an awesome Daytona. I think it would be cool if you showed your timepiece collection!!
Ferrari may tell you it doesn’t replace anything in the lineup but just try ordering an F8 now. Some people in the US are saying the only cars which can be ordered there are the Roma and this 296. The Portofino M, F8, 812, GTC4 lusso, all gone.
[°Very Good Looking car°]
Absolutely stunning
Man!! I must say this Ferrari has really impressed me. It looks gorgeous to especially the one version you drove on the track 😊❤️
Im waiting this. Finaly
Love the short wheelbase! Looks so nimble
I love the retro look on this one.
Honestly I think this is one of if not the best Ferrari under 1 million in recent time. Only cars that could be argued to be better is the 458 (great sound and great car in every way for the time) and the pista (fun, high performance, good looks, doesn’t sound that good tho). But I’d argue this car looks better than the 458 and as good as the pista if not better, and it sounds better and has more power than the pista. The exhaust shape worries me but if an aftermarket exhaust can be put on it it could possibly be one of the best sounding cars like V10s, V12s, and the 458
That actually sounds amazing ferrari have nailed the 296
I love it. It's an understated version of the SF90 and maybe even prettier.
Ferrari and GMA are reintroducing the smooth, sensual beauty in supercars and I'm here for it. Absolutely love these new "old" design trends that seem to be gaining traction!
Gorgeous looking car, amazing technology, sounds brilliant and what a performance!
@Tim - The most important question... Which is better from your perspective - SF90 or 296GTB? I would say that if 296GTB has hybrid fully via RWD would be more enjoyable :)
Looks like Ferrari nailed it and this could be a game changer in the new world of smaller engines
If there wouldn’t be any Ferraris with a V12 this is the car I would get! A really interesting package
This is my favorite designed Ferrari in a really long time.
Love the car, and love the Rolex Daytona too!
Seeing the proportions, this thing is going to spawn a GTS variant and it will look so good😍
New engine sounds great
We need to see you drive TC off more Tim!
