What did you think of "Wish?"
I honestly enjoyed it
I didn't love the end 8/10
I took my kids last night. The girls (5,9) loved it. My son not so much (7).
Tell us you are in the tank - without telling us you are in the tank.
sucked
Since Disney hates me so much, they don't need my money.
Even Viacom Hates Me!
Honestly, for decades, I assumed Disney hated me as well, since they refused to put anyone who looked like me in their films. Still saw the movies though, but I understand how it feels to feel like a company you love doesn’t support people like you.
Its bomb after bomb for Disney. Yet they gonna spend more money for crap like this.
Disney is not doing good on their 100th year.
When I went to see jungle book the first time, Soon as colonel Hathi's march came, all the kids in the theatre clapped with the beat. Disney is unlikely to reproduce that kind of magic ever again.
Awesome😁I love that too😁 And I'm 38😁
Disney's going downhill big time
The general public have lost all faith that Disney won't be shoving some message down their throats and the brand itself is so tarnished and tainted with progressive rhetoric disguised as entertainment so determined to change the world they forgot to tell good stories.
those 2 things aren't mutually exclusive. What are you even on about?
Dude, have you thought about the possibility that the people who they were pandering towards weren’t that interested in the movie at all.
The problem is that people have forgotten how to tell the difference between Corporate Disney and Creative Disney.
Or, it could be that the movie is just sh*t.
I was really anticipating this movie for over a year but when I saw it, I thought it was a major let down. Not that it was terrible and it had elements in it that I enjoyed, but the whole thing felt like Disney was playing it WAY too safe, so safe that the narrative felt rushed and undercooked. While it was great to see a "muhahaha" bad guy from Disney again, his transition from flawed, but well intentioned leader to insane tyrant was pretty sloppy and even when he does goes full-on villain he didn't really do enough to justify his villainy like say killing people, placing curses on others or what have you, older villains like Scar, Jafar, Frollo, the Queen from Snow White, Maleficent, etc. all understood this. Even Gaston blackmailed Belle into marrying him by threatening to lock up her father, that right there is pretty evil. Magnifico crushes wishes I guess, but maybe when he had Asha's mother's wish, he could have literally used it as a weapon against her and knocked her out/killed her with it, truly giving Asha and us in the audience a visceral reason to want to see this guy get taken down like when Scar murdered Mufasa. As for Asha, I didn't mind the "adorkable" female lead trend before this movie since the other leading ladies like Rapunzel, Mirabel, Anna, etc. had traits that stood out about each of them individually, but this may have finally killed it for me. There was really nothing unique about her as a character (other than superficial design choices like braids and freckles), no flaws that we can identify with (maybe "caring too much" could've been something if they actually took the time to explore that), she feels like a blank slate archetype and that's just not exciting to watch. It's not that people aren't willing to see movies in theaters (even with inflation/rising prices being an issue), we just don't want to see mid movies in theaters anymore. Disney needs to start taking risks again and give us experiences on par with (or better than) something like the Spiderverse films if they want to see people returning to their movies in droves, they used to be able to do that in the 90s with classic movie after classic movie. If they don't change course now, their future is bleak.
I'm white, straight, and male. Disney doesn't want me to be their audience, so I obliged.
*Tips fedora
People are done with Disney's woke agenda and manipulation.
Agendas do not actually have as much of impact on box office as people have hype up. This is where news channels are becoming more like an addictive drug then an informational source. Have you ever wondered if the people that they were pandering towards aren’t actually interested in the films?
There was literally no one other than us in the entire theater...
Because it just mashes together all the Disney tropes instead of actually being inventive
At least Wish's box office performance will be at least better than Strange World's, which was released the same weekend a year ago and that was a Treasure Planet-sized bomb!
Treasure planet is 100 times better then all these trash movies
@@nendoroiddancing7361 exactly. No one is going to look back at this diversity garbage and think it was an under appreciated cult.
Cause like in the movie unfortunately for Disney not every wish comes true 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Disney used to craft memorable and interesting stories but Wish just feels as generic as they come. It's one of Disney's most bland films to date. The movie's not necessarily bad, it's just mediocre/underwhelming. Especially when other movies that came before Wish did a much better job.
they had duds before... _Black Cauldron_
Looper drinking disneys cool aid thinking people aren’t waking up to their nonsense. No wonder looper has gone down hill and has been going downhill since.
They need to make better movies and stop being lazy. Their storyline are really lacking these days .
Imagine blaming the box office flop on stars not going on enough late night talk shows, and on a R-rated historical epic coming out at the same time.
I have lost all respect for Looper. It’s not a genuine take and they know it.
Disney is a dying company.
Well the survived for a century I'd say they did their times and a good job but I think we're going to give them the kuzcos speech 😂
@@reverseflash7095 Expect for their Television Animation division, those guys are cool.
The little goat and the star looks cute at least 🤷🏻
Maybe it's because this looks exactly like Tangled...and Frozen.....and every other Disney movie of the last 10 years. The character's expressions, animations etc are literally cut and paste from Tangled...and Frozen....and every other Disney movie of the last 10 years....they have zero creativeness anymore.
Tangled and Frozen weren't great either.
Its okay to be a White, straight, conssrvative, Christian ❤
disney will still make movies with diverse characters
Just let the girl be a princess instead of dorky and relatable and let her have a prince or the star be her bf or something people
It's come to the point when Disney announces a new "blockbuster" movie, most people's feelings are, "Don't go to it."
1:20 That's reasonable. I didn't even know about the movie because the actors aren't advertising on Twitter or other outlets.
Another bad Disney movie because of writing. They need invest in veteran writers to create a great story. What Disney has been doing lately has been clueless Writing with bad acting.
4:27 Elemental did not net $500 million. That's the gross figure. Net is what's left over after everyone is paid. Elemental's net is most likely in the negative after combining production, marketing, and distribution costs, i.e. there was no profit even after half a billion dollars.
This movie had no commercials at all
Cancel Disney Plus
Get woke go broke 😂
Or it's a bad movie. That's literally the only reason. Unfortunately, bad movies sometimes bounce back like Elemental. I hope this movie doesn't follow, Disney doesn't deserve money for this soulless trash.
And maybe because they made the "bad guy" such a good person and all the messages in the movie were confusing and non-sensical had something to do with its failure too. Who wrote that movie and why?
rest in peace Disney studio, parks & Disney adults anytime soons.
Remember when non-Disney cartoons were bombs? Trolls beat Wish. Let that sink
Actually Napoleon and The Hunger Games prequel weren't the only enemies that wish have lost against actually they were other family-friendly film trolls 3 band together and as of right now the film managed to gross twice the sides of its budget so it seems that families wanted to see something warm and colorful rather than just something boring cold and corporate
Wish died because the old saying still holds true, “go woke, go broke”.
Disney is now rated as N for Never again.
"WIsh" has a production budget of 200 million USD and marketing budget at 100M. Movies like this needs to earn 700 million for break even point. According to rumors, 2024 movie "Snow White" starring Rachel Zegler will have a production budget of 400 million USD due to reworks and reshoots. Break even point will be 800 million USD and needs to exceed this amount to become profitable.
DreamWorks: Ha! Finally Take That Disney!
Disney: It's Not Fair
Forgot to mention it was up against another animated musical movie for kids with Trolls 3 just in it's second weekend
The market is changing and advertisements need to attract and be placed in the right place. In my opinion.
Let’s just make a long story short on why it bombed IMO, it doesn’t look too interesting that I wanted to check it out, it wouldn’t have been memorable if even controversy hadn’t gotten involved and seeing how Disney’s movies were this year (not counting Marvel or Pixar films that were released this year) it was pretty bad and sadly 2023 marked their 100th anniversary. Saddest way to celebrate 100 years of Disney Magic ever.
It's ridiculous they didn't advertise the movie because of the Strike.
Disney has forgotten about story. It's only profit now. Just money for the mouse now. Disney movies need one thing to really succeed.. Time. It takes time for people to see and judge a film be be a hit or a flop. But Disney wants instant hits not gonna a happen a real hit takes time. Think Treasure Planet not a instant hit but over time is a favorite of a lot of Disney fans. But it took time a fans telling others about how great a movie it is. Disney is going to have to choose make great movies but give them the chance to succeed or put out lukewarm mass marketed dreck but makes a little money but doing so kills the brand. And unfortunately their going for money and killing their brands and themselves.
Hollywood, Disney, cable, cassettes, eight tracks, seventy eights records.
Here’s why 90% of movies are bombing in theatres.
STREAMING
Remember back when, if you didn’t see a movie in theatres, you’d have to wait 6-8 months to see it on DVD or Blue-ray? Now we can skip the theatre, knowing that we can stream the movie at home within 2 months. (3 max). It makes going to the theatre seem a lot less necessary.
Oh. Also, so many movies have been lacklustre lately, that people are less likely to take a chance on them by dropping 80$ to take the family to see one.
Yeah I agree because if you're already paying for something like Disney+ (who have put their price up again 🙄) why would you pay cinema prices ? Especially if you have a family-if you have kids it's easier and less hassle to watch it at home in a few months. Families dont have to worry about toilet breaks, snacks, parking etc...
And for other people you can watch it in the comfort of your own home and not worry about screaming children lol 😅.
And also lets face it this is not a good enough movie to warrant seeing it on the big screen unlike a big epic film like Puss In Boots the last wish was. 🙂 x
Elemented didn’t make money it was a flop too
It's because seeing a movie has gone back to being a luxury for a lot of peolple. So if you're going to have us come out of pocket for something then we need something to make us go "Yeah I've got to go see that!" Otherwise you can keep it no matter what studio makes the movie.
In the UK, we still have a cost of living crisis which means people are picking things more carefully on what they are spending money on and what they want to see at the cinema😊
I think it also has to do with people being trained to expect the movie to be on Disney + soon.
The villain is Guy Fieri look at him and tell him he’s not
Or maybe because movie tickets are like $15 now, medium popcorn is $10
And all these movies can be watched on streaming sites
the last dozen or so disney movies have been garbage. people still reflexively went to see them but they were shedding audience with each new release. for example, you mentioned Ralph Breaks The Internet. I went to see that with my kids because we enjoyed the original. But RBTI was terrible. The themes were unpleasant, and the whole thing was infected with the same quirky self-aware humor that all disney movies have now. So, yes, that movie got my money, but I was less likely to go and see the next disney release. That is why disney's movie's are flopping. It's not any single thing. It's a decade of unrelatable unlikable flops that have cumulatively tarnished the studio's reputation.
Elemental also flopped btw. $500M box office on $250M budget (not including marketing) is barely break-even when you remember that they split that box office with the theaters.
Wish hasn't even seen any real competition yet. Wish's target audience has no overlap with the target audience of Hunger Games and Napoleon. But next week the new Miyazaki comes out and it will bury Wish.
Good points. The cumulative nature of these failures is rarely mentioned in these types of analyses but the effect is readily apparent if you talk to any fans. For example, many declared that they were done with Star Wars after Rise of Skywalker, and other than a minor blip upwards with the first season of Mandalorian, the franchise has been on a steady decline since that point. Speaking of Star Wars, another problem Disney has is that they're failing on all fronts simultaneously. Every studio they own, their streaming service, the parks, everything is in decline. I think many people haven't grasped how bad it is. It's way, way beyond "this particular movie had a weak opening weekend". Loyalties and habits that have formed over multiple generations have been severed.
I think it's almost certain that Elemental lost money. Not bank-breaking amount, but there is no profit to be had with a 2:1 box office to production ratio these days.
wokeness fatigue.
An additional thought is that with these bloated budgets, we need to cut some of that fat. Maybe go back to in house animation versus the typical 16 digital art companies with the 10000 artists and the 4,000,000 billable hours to make any movie. It's ridiculous.
Also like others have pointed out, if you're already paying for something like Disney+ (who have put their price up again 🙄) why would you pay cinema prices ? Especially if you have a family-if you have kids it's easier and less hassle to watch it at home in a few months. Families dont have to worry about toilet breaks, snacks, parking etc...
And for other people you can watch it in the comfort of your own home and not worry about screaming children lol 😅.
And also lets face it this is not a good enough movie to warrant seeing it on the big screen unlike a big epic film like Puss In Boots the last wish was. 🙂 x
How can you say a movie "bombed" when it just came out? 🙄🤦🏼♂️But yeah, going out to the movies are too expensive now.... 😢
They need to go back to traditional methods.
I want to watch frozen
No we have frozen at home
Frozen at home:
Frozen is Frozen at home.
If it's a Disney film for parents it's about the sam as being X rated.
Also didn't even know the movie dropped.
Keep telling you, firestick
Or just get a smart TV you 2004 caveman
@AlgaeEater09 I just said that. Of course, I have one
Wish will make a good profit in 2 years from now maybe on Disney plus but, it’s still a failure through and through.
waiting for disney+
I thought Wish was a good film, but in an era of declining theater audiences and increased competition for eyeballs, it does fail. What Disney needs to do is make films for the audience instead of the shareholders. We don't need 5 Marvel films, 6 Disney Animated films, and 3 Pixar films per year. Fewer high quality "Disney Quality" films per year.
I'm so sad for Disney right now.
I think wish has potential to brake the box office
I like this movie. Already. I like story, music, animation. I give it 8.5 without watching. Numbers are bad. But it will be better. No problem
Wish so trophy is seen before
Nobody cares about the cast 😊
Antman 3 = woke trash
Indiana Jones = woke trash
The Marvels = woke trash
Wish = Diverse trash
Nope can’t see why Disney is failing…
TLDW for this video: every excuse under the sun other than it just wasn't a good movie.
Chris pine and that terrible fake sounding accent lol🤣😂 enough with the princesses already. Disney has nothing else 🤮
Go woke go broke lol
Mom and I saw it yesterday and we liked it.
Disney picked the wrong lesson to teach in this film normal people would rather have the kings not everyone’s wish shouldn’t come true and if they have to work hard to make it comes true then that’s what you need to do nothing is handed to you
Is british the guy speaking
I will start paying for Disney movies again when they start using real voice actors again.
This Movie sucked
This is weak
People needs to stop taking fun out on this movie because personally this movie touched me deeply in my heart and soul im a Disney fan and i listen to audience
We also boycotting Disney due to their support of genocide.
Cuz it's wokke
Obviously the strike and animation fatigue 😂
What animation fatigue? Mario made a billion this year.
@guesta9822 starring a white male. Better add racism to the issues Wish faces
Do people just hate everything now because every other video from these guys has been “why (insert movie title here) bombed”
And of course there's the right-wing haters.
LMFAO
The right wingers are strong. In less than two years, they turned Disney from the biggest studio in Hollywood, to a dying shell of its former self.
It was not abombed I like that movie.
Simple: Woke = Broke...
This makes me sad… I saw Wish and I thought it was great. I think people just hate Disney now
Disney hated and demoted their audiences first. Karma.
@@eriona1007 I get that but not EVERYTHING they do is terrible. Wish was a decent movie. I feel like everyone is just hating on it because it is trendy to hate Disney
@@JoshieCakez
Your perception of reality is limited by your awareness.
@@FuckTheSimulation that doesn’t even make sense
It's hard to imagine the same studio that produced Pinocchio and Beauty and the Beast would make animated movies that bomb at the box office
Consider how much $$ Frozen made
