#bread - Jak na to + styl
I love reading through all of these comments and seeing how many different countries and cultures have their own versions of fried bread like this. food fried in something greasy or fatty is a key part of the universal human experience lol
In one word - bread! 😊
It's been a while since I have made flat bread. It's fall here, so I will likely make a batch of Bannock. It is a great bread for dipping in stews and chili.
True, you earthling. Very true.
I was thinking the same thing. I'm a grilled cheese master. It's very similar. The only difference is the invention of sliced bread. That's not poking fun in any kind of way.
I'm from southern part of India. We call this as "Parotta". We usually eat this Parotta with chicken or mutton or egg gravy or mixed vegetables gravy. If you made this with wheat flour it is called as Chapathi. If it is stuffed with cauliflower or potato any vegetables we call it as paratha e.g. aloo paratha if it is stuffed with potatoes. U can try to taste many Indian traditional dishes. It would be very tatsy to eat. 😇☺️
Thanks Thivya for sharing this information with me! 😍
Thank you for the tip. That sounds like a winner.
I will be definitely making that
Mmm 😋 sounds delicious!!
Very cool thanks for the knowledge
Ohh thanks for the info! I enjoyed learning about that! :)
I'm from Indonesia, in my country this bread is called roti canai or chanai. The chanai bread here is always eaten with chicken curry, beef curry, pickled cucumber, or a variant of jam and cheese. this is so delicious
I believe you, it really must be delicious!😘
canai? which region r u from?
i never hears that word, I'm from java and i call it maryam, but i googled it and apparently the original name is canai 💀
@@Zqily I ate it in Malaysia and they also say Roti Canai. But there it was eaten with Dal or red curry
Y’all stole that from us
I just made this recipe tonight, and it turned out as good as it looks! The technique for cooking them takes a few tries . . . but an instant favourite! I'd highly recommend it to anyone thinking to try it. Thanks for the great recipe from Canada!

Hello from Alaska, USA. I tend to judge "easy" or "quick" recipes harshly. Because I am disabled with limited strength in hands (and in a wheelchair), and am financially challenged. This certainly made the "Like" category as well as saved into my "cooking" playlist to make during the week. Looks super delicious and most importantly, very easy with only a few ingredients.
Hi, thanks for sharing this with me, I appreciate your attention. I'm afraid the dough will need to work a little, it may be difficult for you, try making half a serving to start! 😊
@@FastEasyRecipes I want to thank you again and let you know I tried it, I succeeded and am now off to buy very little ingredients, but for so many recipes you offer. This is going to be fun (and deliciously easy).
i wish you the best of luck making it :), you can always add a lil oil (preferably olive oil) to make it easier to work with. it will also give a lovely shine and colour to the dough after it has been baked
also if you lay a towel on your lap and place a chopping board with some flour on it, it will make it easier to knead without having to do it on a table or surface
Awh! Hope you're alright man! Lemme show u a really good dip!
Well my mother used to make me a really delicious dip, for these kind of flatbread. She would toast 2 to 3 tomatoes, peel the skin and mash them. Then add lime juice and chopped onion, some salt and pepper. I then, the most amazing part! She will add hot oil to the mixture and quicly mix it then add some parsley or mint.
Enjoy!
Greetings from Kenya 🇰🇪! 😃
We call this Chapati. For us, the more the layers it has, the tastier it is! It’s not common to mix the dough with cheese, but it’s very common to use grated carrot or pumpkin! 🎉
Thanks to the Indian/Persian/Arab traders who brought this recipe to us in the late 1800s-1900s🙌🏾😋
Thank you Arnold, I haven’t cooked this with carrots yet, they will definitely do it! 🤩
The carrot or pumpkin sounds healthier than the cheese and my kids can’t eat dairy. Sounds yummy, I will look up a recipe for Chapati, never heard of it but love flatbreads. Thanks 🙏
Was looking to see if more Kenyans found this video too 😂😂💗💗💗
My friend even earlier than 1800s-1900s as the Arab/Indian traders had been coming a lot longer. I'd say that chapatis are as old as the Swahili ethnicity itself.
@@jayo7812 possibly. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was 1700s.
My parents are from Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana, and this is a popular bread called “roti” in Caribbean culture. Typically it’s not made with cheese, and is eaten with some type of curry.
There’s also a version of this that’s called “puri” which is stuffed with yellow split peas.
I love curry n rotti
Thank you for your feedback, it helps me improve and grow! 😊👍
We also fry in oil and call them floats
Funnily enough, on where i came from "roti" literally means "bread"
If anything this is more like how "Pepper Roti " is made , just with only cheese
My sister and I are going to love this. You can't get better than bread and cheese. Shout out from the USA
Thanks Diane 😊 i'm sure you'll like it
I'm from Saudi Arabia, and I've eaten a bread similar to this, minus the cheese, my entire life. It's called 'feteer meshaltet' which is a famous kind of Egyptian pastry that has roots since the pharoahs, and which centuries later inspired the French croissant. It is extremely tasty 😋 and I'm sure this recipe will taste great as well 😋 I can't wait to try it 😀
Thank you so much, comments like yours inspire me to create new videos. 😍 What do you usually eat these flat breads with?
@@FastEasyRecipes all sorts of cheese, of course 😁 people traditionally eat it with cream (very thick and heavy cream) and honey, both are great options 👍 even jams taste good with it.
Omg I miss fateer .

In morocco we have smth similar to this but without the cheese when it s cooked we pair it with butter and honey we call it "m'semmen" and of course with a glass of moroccan mint tea 😋 delicious

You have to try this recipe at home! It's incredibly tasty also with cheese filling!😉
That's actually called "Melwi", exactly the same as msemen but round. So delicious though!! 😋🤤

As a history lover, it's nice to see people around the world explaining what they call this in their country.

I'm from Kenya. We've been eating this for 50+years without cheese. We call it chapatti. It's great with stew-based food

Just when I think I’m about to stay away from bread… I find something like this that I definitely have to try in the morning lol 🥴😂🤷🏽♀️ looks easy to make n yummy as heck!
I used to think that too, but now my runs are 30 minutes longer! 😀😀😀
That is funny - 30 minutes longer -- I haven't exercised in 30 years - lol. I'm not dead yet! I have a broken shoulder 😢 but 😂
If you don't eat seed oils, you can eat bread

Usually eaten with some kind of curry, either fish, chicken, or plain vegetable curry known as dhal.
In Singapore, we call it the roti prata :)

Great recipe
Glad you're interested! I'm sure it'll be delicious. 😋
I only have beer and wine yeasts etc... This is gonna get made in my house... Here's my smiley, much love from an Englishman in the Netherlands 😊
This reminds me of this paratha bread that I used to get from Kroger. I lived off that stuff for like a year or so. They had a sale, one day, and I bought so much of it because it was frozen (and I could easily store it). They were so easy to prepare and tasted, amazing. I haven't had that bread in about 4 years.
I don't see the problem of making this at home, the recipe only needs butter, flour, salt, water...very simple ... forgot the cheese 😀 I usually keep this in the fridge for up to 3 days and it doesn't spoil. 😊
I used to buy it in packs of 5 to eat once in a while. Each pack lasted two days at most :)

Bali is an island in Indonesia. We eat mostly rice daily. There are so many other beautiful places to visit for different culture, view and cuisine in each region. Welcome to Indonesia 🇮🇩🇮🇩
@@santiw7446 you also get those in India. Last time I ate one was like a week ago lol.
I'm in the US in an area known as the Emerald Coast of Florida. Many of the Native American Tribes from this area have a version of this they called Fry Bread, which they cooked on a flat rock that was set over an open fire. If cheese was added, it would be on top and folded in once it melted.
I never imagined putting cheese or grated veggies in the actual dough! This has so many possibilities that I'm sure I won't ever get bored with it!

I'm watching from the Netherlands, but I'm half Cantonese. My grandma, who is Chinese, makes a similar flatbread from the dough leftovers from when she makes dumplings, "wor tip" as we call dumplings in Cantonese.
she makes those flatbreads with sesame seeds most often but sometimes with leek or with cheese as well.
we call the flat bread something like "pop-pain" (idk how you'd actually write it in Pinyi) but I just googled it and it's called Shanghai Scallion Flatbread.
Those are all so delicious! I've only had a few occasions to try, but you are fortunate to have access to that. I'm sure it was a good part of your childhood, no? ☺️

Hi I am from India
it is similar to Indian dish name called Lachha(Loop in English) Paratha which is made from Wheat Flour instead of all purpose flour sometimes street vendors mixed some tiny bit of all purpose flour for getting some elasticity in Paratha with Wheat flour and filled mash masala(spices) potatoes, peas, onion, garlic filling in it instead of cheese and used Ghee( Indian Clarified Butter) instead of normal Butter to make it.
This is very useful information for me, thank you for telling me about your national traditions in cooking. 😎🤩
Is that like a samosa? My friend makes me those, with green chutney to dip. So delicious!!
@@tracy7612 no they are made with different process
Lachha Paratha is just Wheat flour flat bread with spicy potatoes, onion, peas, garlic filling in it just like it showed in this video
Samosas are purely made out of all purpose flour instead of flat bread they are made in cone shape and are filled with more spices, potatoes and peas in it
and then deep fried in a huge pot of oil in medium - low flame for atleast an hour
Greetings from the UK and what a great bread to make with my Grandchildren- God Bless and stay
