It sounded like a running advertisement to me...thanks Andy! I think the grease is probably right. That was probably the apprentice's job that day and they gave her a butter knife. Put a bit of something over the old switch hole, a finger fits in there and there are a few free electrons to get a grip of! 3 strings now and 3 inverters all humming away, took 10kWh yesterday!
Owen, we've got to work together and it's great to repair the switch, similar to the solar river inverter where I adjusted the relay contact sweep. 10 KWh is great, Lee has developed a very low tech grid battery system, cheers
Excellent repair Andy, it reminds me of a repair I did to my sisters Karcher hoover which she said just stopped working, she lives in Spain so I said don’t throw it I’ll look at it on my next trip, low and behold I took it apart to find a wire breakage just past the switch entry, obviously I didn’t have any decent tools with me and had to visit a cheap Chinese tech outlet where I bought very cheap screwdriver set and a multi tester, I salvaged some wire and connectors from another item and fixed it! She was over the moon and told me it cost well over €100 and loved to have it back working, Like you I love repairing things rather than throw them out plus I enjoy fault finding, living on a canal boat keeps me busy with all the maintenance inc Engines, Electrics and Plumbing, all self taught and watching great videos from yourself and others on CZcams! Thanks again Andy👍🏻
Yup followed the link in the description. Well done on the vac, if the switch wasn't so cheap, it would be a sealed unit and unrepairable. Gonna have a go with one at work. Thanks again for sharing shed time
Numatics are local to me. Funnily enough a family member visited today, he worked for them from 1969 until his retirement. I've seen dozens of these thrown away at a local hotel I do some work at over the yrs. I've often thought should I have ago at fixing them but always assumed it would be the motors burnt out. Maybe I'll have a better look at the next dumped 1😉👍
Hi Andy, on the rating sticker of your Numatics the first two digits of the long number is the year, & second two the week. Perhaps refit the disconnected rocker panel switch to stop fingers going in, & you always know where your spare switch is ? & Keep the old PCB in place as it is part of the air path. Btw that grease is meant to be on the slip rings to reduce contact wear while winding the chord.
Tommy, yes, there was mountains of grease, left some in place. The long number starts with 0707, July 2007? Yes I'll block those holes but I must remake the switch repair first, cheers

Mine was also covered in grease when I first opened it up to relace the switch, and we've had it since new.
Wendy, I don't think it's a bad thing, just surprised at the generosity, cheers

Hi, it seems the switches are the real weak point, give it a go, they make great dust collectors, cheers
