Andy, for those types of contacts, I have been able to fix them in the past by adding a little bit of silver solder on the contact points and sanding them down if needed to make them work.
Hi, that sounds wonderful but a long way from the skills off most people. The silver solder would make great contact medium and as you say builds up lost material, cheers
Hi Andy, it is definitely faster to make this repair than to buy a new switch, especially as I will spend a number of days dithering over whether it is worth repairing yet another something that I already have a surplus of! some of the henrys that i have dived into have had melted pistons on the rocker part of the switch! Good to get in there early, some of these machines have had a tough life, but usually they can be brought back into service,
Owen, you are living in Henry city and yes a switch repair does not mean a machine repair. Abuse will cause excess current draw and motor heat as in your last video, cheers
Hi Andy I've done this same repair several times over the years. Always great satisfaction to know you have beaten it and new life returns. Thanks.
And many times it's the feeling that you have improved things by engineering out the built in failure. Cheers
