- It's getting harder and harder to find nice, honest S2000s now. Most prime examples are being stored away while owners are hoping to cash out in a few years while others are cut up, raced, or rebuilt. Our S2000 lies somewhere in the middle of that... not perfect by any means, but certainly a great, (relatively) high-mileage example.
While the drivetrain is in really good shape, the paint, engine bay, and interior hasn't had much attention given to it in a longggggg time. So, before we start rebuilding this car, we take our time and give the paint the love it deserves.
We spent an entire day cleaning, buffing, polishing on thie car and the results are amazing. The paint came back to life and aside from all of the rock chips, it looks perfect.
Thanks to Kendall for spending his Saturday with me and thanks to Gage and Derek for helping and hanging out!

Wow amazing job he really brought the paint back into life. I need this done to my S2000
Watching this gives me motivation to finally paint correct my AP2.
Speaking as someone who recently took the plunge and corrected the paint on my civic, DO IT! Its a ton of work, but its so worth it.
It's easy and feels so good to have your car polished and sealed. It's work but it's also therapy.
Saying this as I polish my AP2 getting ready to try that Turtle Wax to the Max graphene wax. Couple little scratches all gone. Gloss restored. Laguna Blue shining like crazy.
I need to do this. When he cut the first half of hood and ran the led over it dam it was crazy how clear the paint got. My gut was hurting just watching you guys eat that Mac and cheese. Turned out nice guys.
Another great video guys
Yeah, swirl marks in dark paint really show up. Looks tons better in the after shots though. Nice work!
Beautiful car and insanse results. Two 👍 👍
Looks gorgeous 😍
Man i want a ap1 or ap2 so bad. Very nice video of the process of the detail job step by step ✌
🔥🔥🔥
can you post the chemical you used to bring the headlights back?
What pads did you use?
I also have a 2005. I opted with not polishing the car as I want to maintain as much clear coat as possible. Only wash/ decontaminate/ optimum car wax to add back UV protection. I recommend using dr color chip on those areas... wait 3 days, the. Coat it
If it's thick enough it shouldn't be a problem, but without a paint gauge, it's really hard to tell.
You're not going to hurt your clear coat by polishing it. Most factories spray on thicker coats of clear coat with the expectation that it will be polished a few times. Unless your car has had numerous paint correction jobs done your clear coat should still be okay and be fine to polish but you can check it with a clear coat meter. If your car's paint still has a shine then it still has clear coat.
Black is a very hard color to maintain. I say probably a little worse than white. By the way, any issues when rinsing the engine bay?
Nice! Did a similiar detail for my friends AP2 GPW S2k with 15k miles!
How long does it take you to do a full detail job? I do my own detailing and paint correction and I get the exact same results you do with the same shine and no swirl marks but it takes me like almost 2 days (aprox 14-16 hrs) to do a full detail job inside and out including waxing and sealing the car when I do it myself, especially if I have to go from heavy cut polish to medium polish to fine cut. I want to find a way to quicken my process without sacrificing results.
What do u guys charge for something like this ?
👍🏻
I’m confused, why didn’t you ceramic coat the car in the end?
It was just a mixup with the supplies that we got. The box we picked up had the wrong stuff in it and in typical garage fashion, we didn't open it until we were ready to use it. By then it was too late. HAHA. It's all good though, the paint is super slick and needed the polishing regardless of the coating.
Turn down the music volume...
Rukia lmao
Get rid of that awful spoiler.
What should we put on the car?
@@hybridracing OE style lip spoiler is the direction I’d go, but I don’t know if you guys have other body plans for this thing.
@@hybridracing that spoiler is great, don't listen to the other guy, he has old man taste.
