  • This restoration will be simple and mostly stock.
    In this video I will attempt to get it started after sitting for 25 years.
    I have cleaned the carb, clean the spark plug, ran a new plug wire to the coil, restored the wheels, and installed new tires.

    The Odyssey do bring a good price when they are original .Nice you are gonna keep one stock That military engine would be perfect in one of those Roof Palimino riding mower jeeps

      Thanks! Yeah for content reasons "and my crazy ideas" I thought a original off-road one would be cool, then a crazy fast on-road one would be sweet! I'll sale this one once I'm done, but maybe keep the other one.
      Thanks for the feedback!

    I want to do something similar. I found an odyssey fl250 second gen exactly like yours on marketplace for 100 with the solid frame and I want to place a triple snowmobile motor on it.

    • @RkunsawGarage
      @RkunsawGarage  Před 11 měsíci

      You should find yourself a FL350 or FL450 so you'll have suspension in the rear.

      @@RkunsawGarage yeah I thought about that but really I'm just looking for a budget project!

    • @RkunsawGarage

      @levistrnad2965 Totally understand. If all possible, try making a swing arm in the rear so you have some type of suspension. You're gonna need it with the speed that snowmobile engine is going to produce. There's a reason why it's hard to find a FL250 with a straight roll cage 😆. The rear loves to hop!

      I was going to do something like this because it looked cheap to do, but I had already dumped way more money into it for what it was worth.

    My kid is rebuilding an Odyssey for his 8th grade project. We have a bent rear disk. Are there any tricks to getting that rear pulley off of the gear reducer? I can't find a thing on the internet. You are the only person who appears to have taken off that rear clutch assembly. Any help would be appreciated.

    I was riding my fl250 and it shutoff and I was not going full throttle and I have never really gone full throttle but it shut off and I went to pull start it and it could not turn over. Do you have any suggestions. I think it is either the stator or something in the engine because the engine did not jolt to a stop suddenly, it just turned off and died. I think it is the stator. I can turn the engine about an 1/8th of a turn then it stops.

    • @RkunsawGarage
      @RkunsawGarage  Před 3 lety

      Start with the cheapest part first "spark plug" and then see if you can get spark first. Two stroke engines are notorious for blowing spark plugs. If no spark, then test the stator, and CDI.
      You can rent a spark tester at AutoZone and a tool to check your psi in your cylinder for free.

    • @charliemaybe
      @charliemaybe Před 3 lety

      @@RkunsawGarage I’ll need a spark plug socket then. If I let the thing sit a bit I can turn it over a few more times then it stops again. I think it is the stator but yeah I will try the spark plug. I also cannot get access to the stator because the bolt is stuck so I will also need some other method of getting it off

    • @RkunsawGarage
      @RkunsawGarage  Před 3 lety

      You can rent almost anything at AutoZone, and once you return it, you'll get your deposit back.
      Make sure your PSI in you cylinder at at least 120.
      With the spark tester, once it shuts down you'll be able to tell if it lost spark.

    Hi, Currently working on a odyssey with beat up tires/rims. Removed the old tube and replaced it with new. Took it out for a test drive and went well until I gave the tires a rip. This must have flexed the tires and ended up leaking around the stem. Any intertube advice? Also, I was wondering how you removed the original tires, Installed the intertubes and beaded the tires back up. Thank you

    • @RkunsawGarage
      @RkunsawGarage  Před 3 lety

      Good luck with the build, they are fun working on.
      Breaking the bead of the tires on my rusted wheels were a pain in the butt. I used a small crowbar. Put the bent side that has the claw between the wheel and the tires bead and push the crowbar sideways so that it starts to loosen the bead. Do this all the way around, and spray some soapy water to help lossen the bead.
      Important note: Don't split the wheel half's apart until the bead is loose. If I had to do it all over again, I'd take them to a tire store and have them break the beads. You'll invent new cuzz words if you don't.
      When you mount the tires, line the threaded tube steam up with the wheel and tighten the steam nut up.There is a offset on the tube, so make sure the offset is towards the steam hole on the wheel. Put the wheel half's together, spray a bunch of soapy water on both of them and keep airing it up until the bead is set.
      Here are the tubes that I bought.

    Did you ever get the odyssey all the way done? I’d like to see the finished product. I just had to replace the engine bed on mine. I did it over two days and had to pull the motor to get the new one in. I was able to get the old one out from underneath because it was broken. Anyway thanks for your videos! Rich

    Any idea what the lug pattern is for the rear? My fl250 wheels have rust holes in them too severe to fix if so can you possible link some wheels and tires that would work?

    • @RkunsawGarage
      @RkunsawGarage  Před 3 lety

      The rear lug pattern is 4 x 130
      The front is 3x100
      What I had planned for my other Honda Odyssey was to get 4x130 to 4x4 wheel adapters and use some off road golf cart wheels and tires on it.
