BACKROADS TO PANCAKES: avoiding paved roads on a street bike

- Meeting friends for lunch. Plenty of time on my hands and a fine street bike with street tires. Obviously the thing to do is to plan a route which avoids pavement as much as possible. Ponds, lakes, swamps and back-country farms - it's easy to pay attention to the important things when you're on the road less travelled.

I admire and share your riding philosophy. I have a 650 Enfield "street bike" and I also like taking it on these kinds of roads to these kinds of beautiful places. Most any bike with any kind of tire is an "adventure bike" and will take you on almost any kind of road if ridden properly. I find the most important thing is skill with the clutch and to be in the proper gear to always keep good forward momentum while going through loose, steep, rough or slippery patches; take the corners slow and wide. The only bike I'd avoid taking would be a really low slung, super massive Harley
Wonderful back road video. Reminds of riding my W800 to Fulton's sugar bush in Pakenham. Gravel road riding can be leisurely, relaxing, exhilarating and intense all at the same time. My wife is not a fan but I also enjoy the challenge.

Beautiful Roads Nick!! There are some like that around where I live but I've been hesitant to take one of my bikes down them. I don't know that my street tires would be of any use on them since there is a bit of sand in places. I may need another bike to do that. LOL... Nice video.

Nice video Nick ! Great choice of music for editing into your ride and the drone shot was a nice touch also . Does Wheelers have lawn chairs to lay on after you eat their pancakes ? I love pancakes smothered in maple syrup but I usually need a nap right after I eat too many of them lol . I'm a bit of a carb-a-holic . I got a bike recently that I was wanting to surprise you with someday but due to " too many bikes at the same time " disease I put 2 bikes up for sale hoping to sell one and bing out of the blue I sold both . No it wasn't a Guzzi but It was another midsize Japanese shaft drive that was very popular in Europe during its time . Nice bike .

How does modern suspension on the Breva compare the the old school Eldorado on gravel roads Nick?
I'm amazed how good the Falcone rides compared to my much more modern Strada.

I'm not a subtle guy Ian. The bikes feel very different but I can't really attribute it to the suspension. They both get the job done without throwing me in the ditch. Good enough for me 😁😊
Wheelers sounds fantastic. Maybe it's just as well that I live 300 miles away from it, I'm too heavy as it is and the temptation of what they offer would be too much.

Your videos always make me regret my move from quiet rural E Ontario to crowded S Vancouver Island... I was lured out by the promise of a temperate climate (which it is) but quickly tired of the congestion of the lower island. Featuring Wheelers Pancake House in this ride just added insult to injury... loved that place.
Keep riding though, and I'll keep living vicariously through your films. Except for the speeded-up footage, that makes me nauseous to watch so I have to turn away and just listen until it's over. 🤢
Thanks and sorry about that. I wanted to show the whole length of that stretch, and to do it at regular speed would have taken ages. I'll try not to do it often. Stay well in BC. You have some stunning riding there.
