So there were so many cool old trucks at the last auction, I decided to make a bonus episode for y’all. Check out the cool cabovers, conventionals and even a pair of minty old GMCs. Finally ending on a B-E-A-utiful 379 Peterbilt in the sovereign blue I like so much - will actually be the colour for LBL (my 359 Peterbilt) when I finally get to painting it but alas, it went for way more thank old TwinSticks can afford…

That classic is the BEST truck ever built. Style, motor..everything. NO truck ever built will or has topped them. Don't get me wrong, I love Pete's....but I'll take a XL classic everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. One day I will own one.

Great info on the differences on the short and long hood as well as the differences on the 379 to the 389. Your content in this channel is second to none. Watching you bring these classic trucks back up to their former glory just fantastic. I commend you on your great workmanship.

What a treat for a friday! The only problem with the episode, it's not long enough. Great video Mark keep them coming.
Cool thing about the GMC General is that the cab is aluminum. The Brigadier's shifter is bent like it is because of the 6-71 Detroit diesel is so long, plus the air compressor is mounted to the back of the engine that it sticks way back into the cab. It also has a tilt wheel like the General. Definitely some good deals at that auction.

2 Stroke Detroits the rule of thumb is 1 psi of oil pressure for each 100 rpm when hot at idle. That one was great!
Omg! Loving the extra content.....and that shift knob in K100 was the same Fuller Roadranger I learned on in 1990! Bungholio..... 🤣🤣🤣. A screaming Jimmy in that Brigadier.... That's peak trucking, you haven't lived until you've had your ears rung by one of those! Canadian Class, being from GP Mark, you may remember Formula trucking back in late 90's early 2000s......Formula was a Peterbilt test company for those trucks, the owner Rick Peterson, had only those...... They are rare to find in good shape

Hey Mark 🙂 Enjoyed that; thanks for sharing! The shifter on the 362 is by Cablecraft; there’s a mechanism at the bottom of the lever and another on top of the transmission which operates the shift forks (you can see the cast-alloy cover over the latter). 2 large sealed-for-life, supposedly-inextensible cables link them. There is some adjustment at each end, but not much. Stiff and obstructive for the first few hundred thousand miles, then slick and swift for a few thousand more, then either seized stiff and crunchy or sloppy and vague until death 😆 Foden trucks built under PACCAR control were “blessed” with this system until the Alpha range introduced a shift linkage in its place. Thanks for the memory 🙂
I live in Central Nebraska and the area farmers love these old Peterbuilt trucks. Several have really made them shine and during harvest they really glow against the fall dust and sun. Love watching your channel!!
Hey Mark seeing the friendly giant brings back lots of memories he actually lived in the grafton ontario area I used to see him at the corner store years ago he was a great guy anyway love the truck hunts

Series 60 is a great engine. My W900L from Alberta has a series 60. I had it turned up to around 500.

If you 2 tone paint LBL paint it a DARK dark blue and take use of the stripes that already on the hood and paint them the darker color too.
those Tacographes have what's called a "Watch" sheat,
that is a circle that spins in the box with the clock and the speed is self drawn on a scale, that kinda look like a seismograph.
One Turn is 24h, so one Sheat is one day.
There buttons where you can put it on off time or duty while working,
the little key on top or bottom or side (depends on the model VDO,...) is to open it to put in the sheat.
I say yes to the blue and black combo on LBL Because then it's not just another blue Pete

2 or three log books, no cell phones, fuel was cheap but they changed regulations making it tough for the smaller companies to make a profit

i drove truck for danny gouge out of burnsville north carolinaback in 1989 to 1992
then i ended back here in mississippi
i drove a 1985 cab over k100 pretty blue color it had the single bunk on it flat top
had a 400 cummins 13 speed 3.70 rears and cut back to 72 mph loved that ol truck

Little by Little paint. Maybe a darker blue for fenders and roof cap. Or a lighter center body color. Al-al 90's Ford, Chevy pickups.

as soon as you showed that cab mount on that 362 my back started to ache lol. I heard a guy call the trailer brake handle the 'broker brake' once..I drove a single bunk K100 for awhile..the grab handle above the door was a great fridge in the winter time, hold the small coke bottles just perfectly...if anyone has a cabover and hates that curtain sagging down for the bunk just take broom stick and roll it up inside the curtain. Mark, keep finding them old Jimmys and Louisvilles...LOVE them old sqaures. Thanks for the extra episode!!!!!!!

I had a Pete that was Bahama Blue. That truck got more complements on the color than any other truck I’ve ever had.
High roof Coronado have one of the biggest cabs I've ever seen. You can stand up in the drivers seat and the shelf above the windscreen is big enough to have a chicken coop in it!

Yo Mark, love the two-color idea for LBL, but here's my twist on it. Instead of doing the fenders and roofcaps black, do them in a real dark navy blue. I could see that just looking sweet!

that tow truck seemed like a good buy, the bigger problem is all the crap i don't need id drag home with it....lol I'm actually thinking of re painting my front fenders black, the darker red on the front fenders doesn't really stand out as being a different color like it does on the roof.

On the way you was describing the paint job what I what I did online was did defenders the top the top the cab and on the hood I dropped down to the rabbit line All different colors I'm 9 of them got a lot of compliment
