Been some time since I’ve walked the auction and with the upcoming sale being one of the largest I’ve seen in a while, I decided to take a little walk around just to get a sense of what’s out there and what cool, used iron is going for. I wasn’t disappointed finding many long hood Pete’s, a couple of old Kenworths and even an minty old Hayes - too bad I wasn’t online to bid when it sold for an incredibly low price …
Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for all the comments, suggestions, and support!
Keep in mind, I know a little about a lot but not an expert in anything … just doing the best I can, learning as I go ... I do all my own stunts
Check out my other videos to see the progress of the Smokey and the Bandit Kenworth, Trailer and TransAm projects, the ongoing Peterbilt 359 restoration and the #IronDuke Kenworth K100 cabover I’m building up like the one used in the 70’s trucking movie High Ballin’ with Jerry Reed and Peter Fonda.

My wife walks past the TV when the auctioneer is on at the beginning and says wtf...🤣😂..and then proceeded to say oh it's Twinsticks... must be Thursday 🤣😂🤣😂. Good evening from Australia 🇦🇺 another great nights viewing from our favourite CZcams channel.
😅😅😅😅
That old Hayes dump truck was certainly someone’s baby. They took care of that very nicely.
That Hayes was a bargain!!
The yellow KW was built years ago by Elizabeth Truck Center In Elizabeth NJ. When they had custom build offs at the mid America show. It was named bride of the beast. After their 1st build “The Beast” won the year prior.
I'd just drive the damn thing. I know where that is though. I lived in Linden for awhile.
Can't believe it's Thursday already. Happy Thursday you amazing, awesome beautiful people. Always love these on the hunt episodes. May everyone have the most amazing day they possibly can. Much love from West Virginia 👍✌️🙏🙏
Great vid as always!
The Hayes!
What an awesome truck!
That was somebody's Baby.❤
It shows!
That Hayes had your name all over it, Stix. What a beauty.
Yeah wasn’t online when it sold 🤦♂️ would have bid if I was
Dear @@TwinStix
Seriously? Even though Misses TwinStix strictly limited you to have not more than 3 big trucks? You're playing with fire, Sir! 😁 ;-)
Best regards, luck and especially health to all of you.
@@Chr.U.Cas1622 I could’ve stored/hid it at Peg’s beside his Bear 🤔
@@TwinStix
I don't get it. Maybe simply because English isn't my native language? Please be so kind and enlighten my brain/mind. Thanks in advance.
Sincerely yours.

I love the “On the hunt” videos they are the best to see good olde TwinSticks go squirrel 🐿️. Keep up the good work and stay safe out there.
That ol Hayes dump truck was sick mark. You need to bring it home. Save the bears
Man, 16k fer that Hayes... Someone stole it! Thx fer the morning smut Twin
That red MB Mack was an old converted garbage truck from the states, the 2 jump seats were for the people who worked outside dumping the trash into the compactor.
Love your on the hunt videos like seeing all the old trucks
These are my favorite kind of videos you make Thank You Mark
Short of getting to tag along with you on these auction excursions, this is a great alternative. Thanks for working so hard to put out such a quality product. Enjoyed it immensely. And remember, if you got it, a trucker brought it. Keep yer stick(s) on the ice !
Sweet hayes gravel truck!🤘
The wheels on the GMC are a Widowmaker. It's still a 2 piece wheel just a different design. We had both in Australia and the widowmakers were the lock in variety. The split ring were called "split ring wheels" and were much less dangerous. The Toyota Landcruiser still came with split ring wheels as an option up until about 2010 or maybe even currently so you can change tyres quickly and easily in the middle of nowhere.
If you look up the Firestone Budd wheel catalogue of 1949 you'll see about 7 different options for wheel rims that were all deadly!
I'm really impressed with some of these old trucks I wish that I could have been there I would have spent some big money on that old hays and that old black kw for sure until I saw that frame
Mark, those MB Mack cab over’s where used a lot for refuse trucks in a lot of cities down here in the states. Keep up the great work! Thank you!!
Hi Mark...great on the hunt...just love the old trucks
It is another Thursday!.... Yesterday I was thinking of another episode of on the hunt and here I have it
Thanks for the video Mark.
one of my favorite channels! always awesome content brotha
Very awesome video thank you for sharing
that yellow KW at the end is called "the bride of the beast" it was built by Elizabeth Truck Center in NJ as a sister truck to "the beast"
Interesting … still curious why they didn’t put two nice seats on the cab 🤨
@@TwinStix im not sure either, the guy who owned it was a stickler for details, ive seen that truck and the sister truck in person and they are impressive
@@TwinStix It's a show truck. Pretty sure not a working truck based on that 5th wheel. Don't think it was intended to work, eh?
@@hammers1518 correct strictly a show truck as is the sister truck to it, google "the beast" show truck to see that if ud like
yes another on the hunt..love these
Yeah Mark, that red Mack is a Bucket/ Chip truck combo. When I worked for the tree service company I preferred the dedicated Bucket and chipper trucks. The chipper truck obviously tows the chipper, the back has a PTO dump box to get rid of the chips easily. You always had to remember to spin the chute on the chipper before you started towing it or you'd smash the hell out of the dump box and the chute. LOL 😂 I preferred the dedicated chip trucks because they had a man cab as well with a bunch of storage for saws, rope, snatch blocks, tools, etc as well, in that cab, plus the seat bottom flips up for more storage. There were big locking boxes under the sides of the chip truck that so you could keep more saws in there safely. We had a 60' and a 100' bucket. They both had DT466's in them, and boy were they gutless 😂
On the hunt!! 👌🏻 my favorite
Ah thanks for the trip through RB auction and as usual some real gems. I believe that 50's chevy split rim is what my dad used to call suicide rims. the rim itself actually split in half and you had to be extremely careful when putting together and airing up.
Around here they called split rims Widow Maker rims. That one in the video looks more like a snap ring rim. The first versions did not have a split in the ring. They were a pain. You had to work the ring off and keep working it around until it popped off. The split ring snap ring rims were much easier. The true split rims could be dangerous because you couldn't see if they were seated very well.
On that Hayes....you saw the mud flaps that said Morley Muldoon. That was a rig moving outfit out of Wainwright, AB. If you noticed the roll down rear window, that was a feature on Hayes bed trucks and winch tractors so they could roll down and easily see the load as they winched it. Muldoon has been renamed transport from trucking, not sure why, but as far as I know the family is still going. I'm positive that truck found a second life from bedtruck to gravel truck because of the long frame made for easy conversion. Those old mounted cellular phones were in every truck in the patch in the late 90s/2000s when I statered out here, that is another awesome piece of history
I love these on the hunt videos.
You make me almost miss trucking, I still want to do a peterbilt 281/351 or 359 build, but it'll have to wait till I get my property. Always enjoy your build videos and the auction videos, keeps me dreaming, lol. Cheers!
Oh I love these episodes! That Hayes Holy cow patties! And went for way too cheap, what the Hayes was that about?! Drooled over a good few... Thanks for taking us with you Mark! Appreciate it!
Happy Thursday everyone. Best way to enjoy lunch at work is with
Mr Twinsticks.
DD speed shop!!!.... DD speed shop!!!!
This was a funny episode with wider variety of vehicles than usually. Wish that squarebody was mine!
Those wheels on the old Chev beside the square body, is actually 1 of 3 different types of widow makers. One where the rim itself is split in the middle, the second one is a 3 piece rim where the outer ring has to be centered on the second ring to lock it and the style you just showed on here, which also has to be centered.
That was a cool tour
The Hayes truck had a big cam 400 in it the older cummins have them stamped on the left side of the block above the cam followers
We all love a nice polished BOX ya know
Volvo is a throw away truck you throw it away right from the beginning
Great job on the editing Mark.
$16,000 for that Hayes !!! I would have cried
I almost did 🤦♂️
A great place to find a deal on a truck. May need a little bit but it can be worth it
I enjoy watching your CZcams channel I noticed that you now have a trans am to go with the Smokey and the bandit truck I had a trans am back in the day and learned the hard way that Pontiac used pressed in valve guides so if you plan on beefing up the motor have the machine shop drill and tap the heads or with a bigger cam they will pull out just something to check on and look into keep making the videos I enjoy them thanks Ray
Mack! Ha ha 😂 my kenworth is in the shop so i am stuck driving a CH Mack ! Spring ride POS ! With a 23 foot frame less dump trailer! This thing is killing my back! LOL 😆
That polished dumpbox alone was worth 16 grand. What a good buy , wow.
Ouch on the bear bet your gutted :(
My dad had one of them Motorola phones in his truck good memories I use to answer it when he was loading up and normally it was his boss ahhh good old days
Greetings from Cuba and many blessings 👍💯
I'm still talking about that old hays dump truck man what a beauty
Air cans and elephant ears... aerodynamics...
Gotta love the KW steering wheel on that black 379
thought for sure you were going to end the video with you bidding on that killer Hayes...somebody got a helluva deal...
Wasn’t online when it sold 🤦♂️
Did you notice the smoker Pete had a kenworth steering wheel 😂
Didn’t at the time but did during editing
@@TwinStix I'd get that old mack Mr take that tree stuff off there and find me an old ribbed side Great Dane with the side door and send my lower back a dear John letter and eastbound and down it
That heavy haul k whop in the opening of the video is absolutely brutey
That Hayes truck is very rare wow nice
The "snozzle" on the Oshkosh was pointy for piercing the skin of an aircraft to help put out the fires inside of the aircraft.
Used at an airport...
Yeah, not using that on wildland fires. Airports only.
im from BC and go back and fourth to Sask and AB. as soon as i seen your thumbnail, i knew you were wondering around the Nisku RB yard. lol.
Some very nice trucks wish I could afford one just to hire out and knew how to drive one you and Peter built Mike need to do a video together at one of these places 😊😊😊
They went to the new style mirror bracket on the Pete's in the mid 2000's
Hello from Calgary!
He said with a moose knuckle on the back lol😂
The Hayes is a clipper ,butterfly hood version cabs ,are different from the HD models aswell
That’s the Bride of The Beast. Built here in Jersey I believe by Elizabeth Truck Center 🤘🏼
HA! Cruzing through Chicago traffic and the clutch pedal slammed to the floor, delivered to some place? And got to the nearest hardware store the next day. Ever slide the tandems and bump (slam) a dock with no clutch? It wasn't pretty. Thankfully it only needed a bolt in the linkage below the floor.
Mike stripes are great on duke suits it well done
And your next project is..........
Convoy..........
we use days old school Mack's when I lived in Australia,
a lot of the farms had them with the old
two stroke V8 Diesel.
Those Coranado have the hugest cab. You can stand up in the driver's seat and keep rabbits in the overhead box
Mornin Mark, sorry it took so long to check out your video but even us old guys get busy once in a while. Love your on the hunt video's and especially the old Hayes, just love that old iron. I think it could very well be a Clipper, but I may be wrong I'm sure I saw square fender Hayes clippers before but if I'm wrong I apologize. I'm curious why so many older trucks in the sale? Is the demand for restoration that high? Curious. I hope you had an awesome week my friend say hello to Mrs. Twin Stix for Lorraine and I, see you next week
Talking about turning up a 425, there's a 359 here with worked injectors putting over 650 on the ground, turned fuel and air to it, apparently those b blocks have an air screw as well
An Amish auctioneer! Who knew. He's good!
Some very nice trucks wish I could afford one just to hire out and knew how to drive one you and Peter built Mike need to do a video together at one of these places that tree trimming truck what your thinking of on the back is a chipper trailer that shoots it into the back of the truck 😊😊😊
That was a Clipper 1965-67 is my guess. The first diesel I drove was one of them. Probably a 335 Cummins. They made Clippers with fibreglass hoods in later years.
Oh man it was a hot one bro but liked it have fun love you.
Brent, too bad u didn't get to buy that kenny gravel truck for 16,000 cool looking truck.. thanks for showing-us the truck sales..
Who’s Brent?
@@TwinStix Sorry mark. seen too many videos..
26:06 new Scent coming too a Yankee Candle near you this fall
That yellow one at the end is called The Bride of the beast was made by Elizabeth Truck center Elizabeth New Jersey back in the late 90s early 2000s it was a follow-up to their number one truck called The beast you ought to read up on that thing but this yellow one was in the Lamborghini car sales for $225,000 and then all of a sudden it dropped to 150 I guess somebody bought it last time I saw it was at englishtown raceway at one of the truck shows they had sitting right next to the beast awesome truck I can't haul anything with it because of the rims killer stereo or it did at the time of the show check it out it's pretty cool
Im personally not a huge fan of peterbuilt clutches but other than that theyre pretty nuce trucks i got my grandpas 1978 chevy k20 that him and my dad built it way before i was born
Those 6x6 and 8x8 Oshkosh fire trucks are built to be used at airports and specifically designed for aircraft firefighting. They need all terrain abilities due to runway excursions or crashing short of the runway.
I noticed the mud flaps on the Hays said Morley Muldoon trucking out of Wainwright Alberta might be one of his old trucks . Thats all he ran back in the 90's old Hays trucks just google his name and see what comes up.
Ya know, for how much walking you do at auctions you should get yourself a golf cart😂
That Chevy truck in 36:34 probably has the split rims that they call "widow maker". Instead of having the split ring, it's a two part rim. It has a cut right down the middle of it and when you mount the tire on it, you lock those two together. There's a video called "All About Split Rims, Explained!" by Sealed Beam Rally Team, they explain it with a lot of details about each type of wheel.
Wow and no it doesn't!
i like the green pete too
it's the color of money
my favorite color🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Instead of buying the gladhand brackets to keep them clean and organized I just connect them back on each other and loop them over something. Its fee and keeps water and dirt out of the air lines
Truck prices are falling for sure. They gave that Hayes away it had 1/3 of the sales price in rubber on it. Thanks for sharing!
Now I've seen moose knuckles before but that didn't look like that 😆
thought they would have put reinfored plating by the vertical weld, doesnt look safe
Yeah probably should have some sort of fish plate or channel in behind 🤔
Absolutely great videos as always Mark. Watching your channel for years now, and definitely noticed the price drop on the trucks. 60107 USA says hi.
That's near me!
@@struedel25 Well hello!
@@johnclamshellsp1969 Hello, neighbor!
That black Pete with the bad clutch pedal had a kenworth steering wheel? Idk if anyone else noticed that lol but I had to watch that a couple times and sure enough it’s KW.
This is the comment I was looking for
Awesome
That fire truck would make a great camper!
That Hayes was an early Clipper before they went to a fiberglass hood.
No kidding … interesting 🤔 wish I could’ve bought it 🤦♂️
@@TwinStix For $16K it would have been pretty cool but believe me when I say the cool would wear off quickly if you had to spend 10 hours a day in it! :)
And that rubber block suspension is rated for 44,000 lbs, the 38,000 lb suspension only had 2 blocks instead of 3. I ran a C500 with 44 rubber block doing heavy haul, it was pretty common years ago but make no mistake... it's a back breaker!
2nd owner of that yellow kw was anthony roll rite towing NewYork he paid 200 for it in 2013 if i remember correctly
FSC Trucking in You Tube hauls those Oskosh Fire Trucks with a 1984 Model 362 Peterbilt COE.
Thursday lunchtime in the uk, can’t beat a twin stick episode - replica Mack from Convoy next ?
I'll take that old Kenworth
When you see a CAT with CAT filters that’s a good sign. Keep that CAT yellow plus it’s CAT filters so that’s great for the engine I only ever put CAT filters on my CAT motors. Same with my previous job most of the trucks with CATs got CAT filters on em. CATERPILLAR POWER!
Looked like that B model kenworth was a 3406C has the injection pump like the 3406B but on the c also has a computer on the block behind the pump
Would love to see some old international 9300 at hhe auctions
I think u need the Hayes gravel truck Mark
