Dude you did a simple video no music straight to the point explained everything nicely done you have a new sub and I am going to try that on my one season used leaf sucker and chipper for small limbs that won’t start.
Take off air filter squirt gas in carb try to start. If it starts then shuts off its your carb.
He did not show anyone how to take the top off!

Your step by step video really helped and got my mower back to running again. I didn’t use the acid because I was on a time crunch so I just took it apart and sprayed with the cleaner best I could. Probably one of the best walk throughs on youtube. I performed these steps on my M230 today. I do have access to an air compressor, which worked well as I dont have the acid. She is running great now. Liked and subscribed!

Thank you, my mower wasn’t starting and I did exactly what you demonstrated, however I didn’t do the acid thing I just cleaned the holes in the little white thing that’s in The carburetor. You saved me money so again, thank you. Keep doing what you do.

Thank you for posting this video! It helped me get my mower running again after old gas fouled the carb. For some reason the O ring and plastic snapring prevented me from putting the carb back on if they were installed into the carb. I had to leave them on the mower like you showed it being, being wrong. Not exactly a flush fit but runs.
Followed your video and was able to get the mower running again! Definitely saved me from spending unnecessary money and I feel like I’ve learned a valuable skill. Thank you!

ONE pull one start wasnt starting so found you on you tube watched your video took carb off took it apart cleaned everything with carb cleaner even gas tank. put back together WOW 1 PULL and Start. Thank You

How did you get the red cover off? Removed 2 screws and still won't come off
@@snoopy1969 There is a screw underneath rhe decal. Kind of in the middle, press around and you'll feel the dimple where the Phillips screw is at.

@@smallengineguys so I got my mower running for about 8 min then it sputtered and died. New fuel so don’t think that’s the issue. Wondering if I have contaminated fuel line or tank.

Amazing video. Just got my mower working. These new craftsman mowers aren't the most reliable. I just bought mine a year ago. Winterized it and it still got clogged.
Its not the mower its the fuel. Find non ethanol fuel like rec90 or rec91

the comment about the carb cleaner in the eye hurting is an understatement. i've been pepper sprayed by a friend before, and carb cleaner was very similar to it, if not worse (for a shorter period of time) USE SAFETLY GOGGLE WHEN SPRAYING CARB CLEANER. PLEASE DEAR GOD

Thank you. Worked for me. I just used brake cleaner and a wire to clean out that jet. I'll be sure to drain the gas tank before storing it before winter now!
it helps but not perfect either sometimes needle valve sticks open when you drain the gas.

Thank you so much. I almost bought the chemical but we have acid at home..since who doesnt?right? Lmao. Btw I checked everything...filter was still snow white. Sparkyplug was barely black. But didn't start. ( i did not cut the grass thru winter) called a local shop, guy said $125 to clean the carburator. I watched this. I used started fluid ( i did not want to use muriatric acid) and first the cartridge was clogged, but i sprayed from both direction and finally the spray went thru. Fired up after 1 pull

4:00 on the white part with three tubes, the one with the O-ring seems to not be used on mine... (spent some time trying to clean out a blind hole that it mates up to!!! :)
the middle one sucks air from the last tube-of-three and gas thru the bottom and to be mixed in the carb throat.

Also good thing to note if you have this problem to put new gas in after this process. The old gas can cause it to crank but not run strong as I experienced.

@@smallengineguys thanks for all the help I didn't think to put new gas in. I saw the part where you mentioned looking to see if the gas has water in it or not. Figured to put the gas back in it ran as if the choke was on. So I drained gas from line and hopefully once I hook it back up Tom and put new gas it's good to go. Have to buy a gas jug, threw the last one out when I moved 3 months ago smh.

Does the Alcohol in Regular gas play a role in the gummy buildup that clogs the jet? Will Ethanol free gas be better or less likely to cause the clogging? Also, I was unable to pull the top off after removing the two 25 torque screws! I have the same exact model but it appears to be another hidden screw holding it on. Thanks!

Thank you!!! I have a brand new mower that I ran only once before I put it away last season. Couldn't get it to start up. With some starter fluid it ran for only a few seconds. Tried to get ahold of Craftsman support but it was after hours so I searched the internet and found your video. Super simple to follow and it started right up on the first pull!

Thank you so much for the video, well done. I did it once and worked fine for me, however, accidently hit a rock and mower turned off. I tried to turn it on by pulling the pull robe many times, did not turn on. Then, I cleaned the carb for the second time it worked for about 5 minutes and start shaking and turned of again. Just want yo make sure is the above link the carburetor for M230 and is there a link to check the flywheel key.

either blade is bent or the crank is bent. if it was flywheel key it would jerk the pull rope out of your hands so hard the handle would hit you square in the nipple. EVERY FRICKEN TIME.

I’m pretty sure what you just did is what is wrong with mine but it’s full of fuel that’s old how do I drain the gas tank?

just carb cleaner is fine. use a single wire from a wire wheel to poke the jet. you may have to do carb more than one time

sounds like needle valve is stuck open or got some debrie on it. take carb apart. its under the float.

He who and how. The jet needs to be enlarged to run e85 or its to lean.
Can someone tell me what that little port (seen in 13:00 )from the gas tank that hides behind the air filter cover is?
I just noticed gas has been leaking into my air filter from there and not sure if any knows why or how to fix.
