One thing you forgot about this all: you need to have a lot of energy in case you'll need to maneuver more than once or twice. Even maneuvering two times against MiG lost you quite some energy and if your enemy knows it, you'll be in a very bad situation when they have speed and energy while you have none of either
That is why You try to keep them as close as possible, otherwise they will extend away and keep BnZooming. Like I said, only inexperienced/average players will fall for this. Tbh there isn't much else a slower, but better turning plane can really do.
@@smigoltime I use the Zero to do this. I occasionally meet an actual good player, but I normally manage 3-4 kill games if I play it right. Even experienced players fall for it in a Spitifre, 190, or 109.
I've seen 1 enemy get 4 kills because my team of FW-190's thought they could turn with a spitfire. Then I dove on him with my 109 and ended it properly, by BnZing, not by dogfighting
Flatspin : switch off instructor, 0% throttle, level off flightstick, counter-rudder (ex. Flatspinning to the left, rudder to the right), if the spin started to slowing down, pull down and only throttle if you're out of the spin
Lol, I love your guidance. Everyone trying to use this trick in front of me were dead. It waste too much energy and put yourself in a passive position. If the attacker following the rules of energy fighting, he will just simply bait you maneuver up and you will loose all your speed. If you don't follow his bait, you also loose a lot of energy. You just make yourself a sitting duck.
Okay, you might read this might not, but I think you should cover energy management guide on how to use energy in a rolling scissor, because many people (and I mean, a lot) overshoot their targets, also explain how going slow (sub 300 at like 3.7-6.7) won't make you turn better etc. Right now I guess this guide was meant for more experienced flyers, but if this becomes a series, it really should be a bit more (really, just a tad bit more) idiotproof. Regardless, great video, well and briefly explained a tactic all expert pilots use.
One time I caught an enemy up close and mid bank-turn and I shot three rockets. I lead so much with them that I thought I would miss but I didn't, I hit them smack dab in the center of their plane and they split apart and it was totally epic.
Please make this a series! I always have a hard time in Russian planes that don't have a lot of ammo or particularly effective cannons. The one thing that kinda saves me is energy retention during maneuvers...would help if I knew more about how to handle it.
Wow. Such a useful video to get rekt more in. Man I suck in Air Battles. (Fighter) The other problem might be that my Crew is just absolute crap when it comes to pulling G’s. Yeah, I’ll blame that.
can't wait to see more of these!! I've been really trying to learn mechanics of what to do besides some pretty basic stuff that's intuition based more or less. Hopefully these will help out cause everything else I've seen people put out is a lot of technical explaining and such and it befuddles me but this was easy to understand.
Most of the maneuvers shown in this video is something I use on the regular in both the Zero to great effect, and the F-16 in DCS also to great effect. Just useful maneuevers to engage with minimal damage, and get on the enemy's tail.
When I fly planes with powerful armament I usually also shoot s hort burst from 2/1.5km, if you're accurate you can get a lot of kills by doing that, expacially with stealth belts. It's also very satisfying!
If you're the BnZoomer, the best way to counter this is just never follow the enemy in any maneuvers. If you have speed and acceleration over your opponent just don't follow them when they try this. They'll burn all their energy trying stuff like this, and you can easily get away. I'm not saying this is a bad video don't get me wrong, but at the end he says more experienced players won't get caught up that easily and this is what he means.
Lovely how most players want to turnfight like it's only thing they can do. Spitfire F Mk.XIVe while not really awesome turner is great for defensive flying. Roll under them and do some cheeky vertical maneuvering stuff and they're toast :P
If a plane has excellent roll rate (relative to your foe), and has ok climb rate, and you can lose speed like nobodies business, you can defensive fly it. Pretty good example would be a fw190 against a p47/p51, yak3, la7, and sometimes mk9 spits. It is really important to know your opponent's energy compared to yours tho.
I always pretend like I'm going to headon, then break off about 1-2km out, when they start shooting, then force them into a turnfight. It normally works if they're not someone who has played war thunder for a while. It's so fun baiting spitfires and 190s with the American A6M2
When the MiG 3 was chasing you and you entered into the second scissor maneuver, he didnt pull up and chase you into that scissor so you could take some space in the loop and drop behind him. Would this only work if they don't chase you at that specific point?
The MiG was finished the moment he made the first turn tbh, if he pulled up, I would've still caught him. His only escape at that point would be diving away. And if You ask if this works only in a 1 v 1, no You can take more than one enemy, but it's way harder. Same goes with every maneuver pretty much.
As soon as im about to start tutorials everyone else seems to be doing them too lmao, nice to see you spreading some great knowledge regardless, keep it up chief!
NGL i just head on, fire a 2-3 second burst at about 2.5km - 3km, aiming a little above them to compensate for range, THEN maneuver into the dogfight. you'd be surprised how many just fly straight into it even with tracers coming right at their face.
Honestly i learned some useful advice from an arma 3 cas flying guide and it applies a lot, maybe even im real life personal problems: If you fuck up the approach and feel like you are going to fail bevause its in an akward angle, don't do it, unless you are in a hurry Or in short: DON'T DOGFIGHT IF YOU ARE BnZ PLANE, GET OUT AND TRY AGAIN
Oh, and don't forget to commit. Never attack unless you're sure that you will kill the enemy not the other way around or you will find yourself second-guessing your decision in the middle of a turn fight.
Once that mig 3 decided to dive. It's already over for him, mig 3 is very very bad at turn fight and will never going to win against zero or spitfire in a turnfight. If Im in a boom and zoom or energy fighter, always go up if I know that I will overshoot and force him to either do a vertical fight or go to the ground. If you're the enemy, to counter this tactic is just to cut the fight and try to keep distance and try to get speed and wait till he try to do boom and zoom again, wait until he is faster than you and roll over him to get over his 6. If he's smart, He'll try to move away and keep distance because his plane has more energy, instead of pull up right away because you will have a chance to get him. If you know that you're not going to win the fight, dive and go to your friend. If he is following you, your friend has a high chance to kill him. Because your enemy now has less energy than your friend
