  • By far the best option for storing small parts and fasteners.
I designed a few 3D printed parts to make the Milwaukee system even better.
Milwaukee small parts organizer. Half the price of the packout system. Very durable design. Doesn't require 100s of hours of 3D printing or construction of custom bins.
    I think it's a complete Winner.

Exactly what I have on my list to do for the same Milwaukee parts organizers I have. Did you happen to match the taper of the bins in your design? We’re you able to print one right the first time, or did it take a few tries until you got the dimensions right?

I took some good measurements and was able to make the first print work really well and fit great. I did taper the bottoms to match the Milwaukee bin shape. After I knew it fit well, I did end up playing around with the wall thickness and the top edge of the bins as well to optimize it on future prints.

@@ResearchDesignBuild thanks for the feedback and tips. I’ll give it a go.

Why not just print dividers instead of complete boxes? Yeah the complete boxes are slightly better but is the extra effort really worth it?

There isn't anything to slide the divider into to hold it in place. I know some of the bins on some of the other kits have little slots you can slide a divider into but these ones don't. So in order to keep everything separate in required the full box. It also allowed me to use the bottom square that Milwaukee uses to keep the bins in place for the inside bins as well. So Even if you pull out one bin the other one won't tip over or slide around.

@@ResearchDesignBuild I understand but I'm pretty sure you could still design a divider that would work if you wanted to. Like it could have some dowels extending on both sides to keep it centered. But I love the inserts you made. I always think of those briefcase boxes suited for traveling tradesman. For a shop you could make something like this for a tool chest drawer organizer.

@@CybekCusal Yes For sure I could have gone that route. I like to be able to take fasteners or other small parts with me. So something portable is always a benefit that I'm looking for.
