The thing that really helped me was turning off my own ghost, and turning on the demonstration ghost. I got gold first time on every sector on Deep Forest after turning on demonstration ghost, whereas i had been floundering with my own ghost for about 40 mins on a single sector previously.
Edit: Put the demonstration ghost at a 0.2 offset, and essentially just play keep up with it.

Dylan...your struggle reminds me of one of...the hardest challenges ever...in the GT series...GT4 specifically...and the challenge was mission #34. Its basically a one lap event on Nurburgring Nordschleife...where you get to drive the badass Mercedes Benz SLR...on COMFORT tires...and you get like a 2minute delayed start...and have to pass 8-10 other Mercedes who have a head start on you. It took me literally months. But the good thing is it helped me learn the track quite well! 👍

I’ve got gold in all license, missions, and I’m about 50% done with circuit experience (including nordschleife) and only started since the update. The one thing that took me from not getting gold on certain missions and license, to now easily doing it was watching the demonstration. I would try over and over and never get gold and the reason was because I just didn’t know the best line. There are curbs on tracks that are crucial for you to hop, cut, or ride and if you don’t you simply won’t be fast enough. I personally didn’t see those curbs until I watched the demonstrations.

great points here - i've just come back to GT after a huge break (all the way from GT3) and within the first two weeks of play I've managed to gold everything up to Super License test 2, and I've intuitively been applying almost everything you've talked about here (amazing TC tip btw, i'll be implementing that one for sure).
the big game changer for me was removing the ghost altogether and allowing myself to let go and really get into a flow. the personal ghost became a massive distraction, and now i put the demonstration ghost up with a 0.4s gap for those moments where i'm trying to work out how to gain a 10th here and there.

  • @LordBojang
    @LordBojang Před 2 lety +4

Mate a different perspective is what I needed as I was seriously struggling with these. The first point you make is the last I think most of us would’ve thought of trying, counter intuitive but as soon as I booted the game up, straight onto the Nurburg GP circuit, boshed a gold lap out and then went backwards through the sectors being fresher in my mind, gold on all of them in a matter of 20 minutes as opposed to 2 days of trying!! Thanks for the tip love it, I’m left scratching my head feeling silly as to why I didn’t think of this sooner ha.

This is why I love the channel. The average guide for this type of stuff would mention stuff like "Always focus on the driving line" or "Slow in, fast out", or " Find the right braking points", basically stuff that applies to time attacks in general. This video showcases the mental side of getting it right. We are human beings, and we tend to overthink things and easily get frustrated even if we know all the basics. We need to slow things down and sometimes, breaks are not enough.
That's not to say the tips here aren't full proof. I managed to Gold most of Suzuka with relative ease by going in reverse order, but I still struggled with Sector 1 a lot (even getting the famous .001 off time off gold). But it was far, far better for me to start with full lap then with going in order.

These are all really good tips. A couple observations I've had:
Tip 1 - another reason the full lap should be done first is that the sector tests often start at different speeds from the speed you'd be going on a full lap. So you could endlessly run a sector to finally get gold, then when you get to that sector in your full lap, you're going 25MPH faster and crash immediately. Though, I will say they can sometimes come in handy when a course has a tricky final sector (Dragon Trail) and you want to learn how to navigate it properly instead of repeatedly blowing perfect laps in the last sector.
Tip 4 - I like to have my ghost on, but I don't offset it so that I'm "chasing" it. I keep it even with the current run so that I can use it as an instant reference for whether or not the current run is going well. It's a lot quicker and easier than having to pay attention to sector times.
I would add a personal Tip 5: Watch the demonstration lap. This makes it much easier to learn braking points and helps you learn a track's quirks. You might learn a racing line that cuts a chicane in way you didn't think was possible, so you would have never been able to "figure out" the track on a blind run.

traction control is better in gt7 compared to gt sport. in gt sport it would slow down your gear shifts, doesn't do so in gt7. in most situations I use traction setting on 1, with some exceptions that it hinders having it on such as on MR cars around spa. driving fast is often about being able to put your foot fully down on the throttle as early as possible, and you can do that earlier with traction on, because with throttle + traction is allows you to straighten the car out as early as possible without losing traction. a+ driver here
additionally, real life racing cars in most catagories use traction control and for good reason

I'm late to the party. I was able to get my PS5 only recently during Christmas 2022. Anyway, just want to share that I love doing these Circuit Experience challenges. So far, for the tracks that I've done the Circuit Experience on, I'm able to get all gold. I agree with your first point, which is doing the full lap first in some shapes or forms. My way for going about it is to race in some of the events on that track for a few times. That helps me to get familiar with the full course and start to have a sense of the flow. Generally, just by doing races, I can feel whether a corner is a early or late apex corner, whether I need to lift or full throttle..etc. Then when I start doing the sector portions of the Circuit Experience, I'm literally "improving" my racing corner by corner, instead of "learning" the corner completely from scratch. The other thing I also agree with is that I found it counterproductive using my own best ghost. My own ghost shows where I made mistakes, but it doesn't tell me how my improvements can be achieved. I now only use the default gold ghost where it teaches me the proper lines and braking points. The best way to set up the gold ghost is to have it ahead of your car by about 0.3 of a second, and you can follow the lines and braking points without the ghost blocking the view.

I got the game 2 days ago after I was done playing gt sport. I’ve been able to do a couple of them but others, even if the track was in gt sport, feels significantly harder than in the previous game.

I have a thought on #3 which prompted this comment.
As you gain more experience, you begin to realize that this is how you're supposed to drive a race car. Your pace needs to be quick, of course. But people unaware of how to drive fast, much less compete in a race, think that means "go faster" and "take more risks".
In actuality, the most important thing for a race car driver is consistency. Once you become consistent everything begins to feel much smoother, more like a cruise. Only when you've found that "comfort threshold" should you begin to find time in your pace.
My food for thought on this is... there's a number out there for your lap that can't be outpaced. But pushing too hard to reach that number can cause you to lose seconds off that pace. Don't drive trying to find time, drive trying not to lose time.
The first thing you do is find a pace you can repeat comfortably. You may find that pace is already pretty quick, but you give yourself an opportunity to get used to the car and course (similar to the purpose of tip #1). By the time you're there you already know where you think you can be faster, and where you're struggling to keep the pace you have. That's when you start working on gaining back that time you're losing.
Professional drivers (even in the sim racing world) can do this rapidly, being that it's something they naturally do anyway, and usually their beginning pace will be quicker than your average driver. As it is it used to take me much longer to come to a track green and get up to pace, where now I can put up a decently competitive lap with no prior experience on the track in about 15 minutes.
I thought this perspective might help someone understand this tip a little better.

I guess my patience is non existing.
Why is it even build up like that?
"because I just want to play with racecars"
Back in the days (early gran turismo), I took the minolta 88 around nordschleife in 5:16:233, those were the days, when the physics were something that you could handle.
I like gran turismo, have played it since the first came out, and ONLY that game, all other games, including racing, doesnt work for me, ONLY gran turismo, this latest edition makes me disappointed,….
"because I just want to play with racecars"
Today, I thought, " Iˋll take the chance, and try the nordschleife circuit experience"
All those "experiences" and the license tests are necessary evils to me
"because I just want to play with racecars"
and therefore, you should only have to do every sector once, before you have the gold, or even better, that they were not there.
But I gave it a chance.
I have "driven" literally thousands of laps on that circuit, knows every corner, every bump, but that is not enough,….. apparently.
Did the first 8 sectors, the car is setup like a bag of potatoes, so, no chance to just drive it, you have to wrestle it, did my best, which is not god enough, and got bronze, by a hair!
Started sector 9, and never managed to finish it, before running of the track! 4 times in a row!
Result? : got mad, and very sad/frustrated, turned the PS off, and all that,:
"because I just want to play with racecars"
I havent got the patience, OR the time for this, because you have to "grind" credits enough to keep up with the car dealers offers.
So right now, and probably for a looong time ( if I dont quit it completely before that) I only drive the le mans race that pays of, and sometimes, just to do something else, the daytona roadtrack 800pp, both races I prefer to do in a gr.2 car, again, I dont want to wrestle the car, and I want a clean race bonus every time, because anything else is a waste of my time.
"because I just want to play with racecars",………
BUT!! I guess I just never will get these "challenges" done in the game, that including all dirt/rally races, all drifting, and all wet things.
And I was so stupid to buy the 25 anniversary edition, and only have access to a third of the game,….
the on-line part is also a no-go, I dont like other people, especially not when they drive dirty.
Not all of us are "pro youtubers, sim-racing demi-gods", we (I) are on the easy setting, still, and (god forbid this!) I am using the TCS 🫢
"because I just want to play with racecars"
Sorry for this "rant", I just had to get it out of my system.
