Ive had one of these for a couple of years and couldn't be happier. rim broke so i replaced them with cheap 80 dollar aftermarket set then put in a 5th scale steering servo. wish i wouldnt have bought a buncha parts because i never used them.

This is a REALLY good, BIG RC! I have the Laegendary Nitro "1/8 scale" SCT - but compared to the Shredder, it looks more like 1/10!!
Big must for new owners - grab a Hobby Wing 1080 brushed, yes BRUSHED, ESC program card. I was looking up how to program the ESC but didn't have the right program cards, so I thought.. Unhooked the fan and put my 1080 program card in and it absolutely WORKS!! Now I can change braking and start / punch modes to how I like. 'Tuning' the ESC can be very helpful for power consumption and speed / performance.
For speed - 4S is pretty quick, but could be faster to me. I have some MOD1 pinions so I can play with gearing. I already swapped the plastic spur to a steel one (also highly recommend even right out of the box). Don't care for the plastic gears myself.. But anyway, I have a 1580KV 3674 motor coming. Little longer than stock - more torque. My Shredder likes to cog after a few min of runtime on a start - sometimes. Not that bad, just a really quick skip, but shouldn't happen. Especially for 4S! I use two Ovonic 50C 5200mAH 2S packs - definitely recommend Ovonic batteries as well.
I'm sure you've noticed from running it around the grass and such; there's a lot of debris that gets in this thing! I was hoping it wouldn't pick up so much grass and dirt or rocks, but wrong. I did a mod for my Laegendary Nitro I'm going to use on the Shredder. I used screen-door mesh to create a cover for the inside - keeps all that crap out of the fans and gears. Very effective!
I just recently got mine, so my transmitter looks a little different. But, Fatuba stuff! Pleased to see a known brand used for the electronics - I think my ESC is Hexfly? Don't know that one myself. But, I like it!
Oh, almost forgot - the diffs are SEALED!! This means you can put lighter or heavier weight oil in them and change the handling and grip! I took out the center diff and put in 40,000CST. I noticed that the center diff was slipping and putting more drive to the front. I like it to be more 50/50 power distribution, so the higher weight keeps it more 'locked'. It will still 'slip' and work as a diff when needed. You can also jam it up with some silicone earplug - well known trick to really lock it up. Depending on how much you use, you can make it still work as a diff, but very very stiff. Ultimately, I'm going to take off the tires from the rims and do the duck tape mod to 'belt' the tires and keep them from ballooning all together. Should be better grip too!

Sounds like the center diff is stripped. I just got my Shredder a week or so ago and lovin' it, but I did notice some slop in my center diff. Since I've seen others here with the same issue, I ordered replacement diffs (all 3) to tear apart and shim to set gear lash/mesh properly. I'll install them when the steel spur gear becomes available - on backorder everywhere right now.
Awesome. Its a great truck, the way is handles and "shreds". Fortunately, the parts are super cheap, if your willing to install them. From Redcat they ship fast too. Affordable to operate.
You can buy spur gear mpo-018 only difference is the teeth 46t instead of 49t I did mines runs great

You have to put thicker shems in the diffs and then it’s fine

To make those little hex pins use a drill bit. N cut it off it's a hobby cool truck
It's your rear diff. Had mine for 3 months and just put my 3rd one in yeasturday. I baby it now. It's just cool because of the big scale but I jump and bash my 10th scale Traxxas.👍

Looks like a pretty decent rig does it have a center diff? It sure likes to dip out when you turn I would thicken up that difficult well see how it handles after that. I guess it's cool to watch tire blow up but man what a waste of energy

Is this truck waterproof?
Its supposed to be...probably is...but when you drive through water everything looks good later but all the drive gear and even the motor will start to rust. Be prepared to clean up or replace rusty parts later. I bashed it in the rain and hosed it off many times. Hose off is in the video.
