- I know there are probably a billion covers of this song on CZcams, but it was past time for me to learn it. I didn't want to attempt anything crazy of fancy. Just wanted to give it an honest, straightforward try. I hope y'all dig my guitar whistle solo!

Lyrics:
Sittin' in the mornin' sun
I'll be sittin' when the evenin' comes
Watching the ships roll in
Then I watch 'em roll away again, yeah
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
Watchin' the tide roll away, ooh
I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay
Wastin' time
I left my home in Georgia
Headed for the Frisco Bay
'Cause I've had nothin' to live for
It look like nothin's gonna come my way
So I'm just gon' sittin' on the dock of the bay
Watchin' the tide roll away, ooh
I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay, wastin' time
Look like nothin's gonna change
Everything still remains the same
I can't do what ten people tell me to do
So I guess I'll remain the same, yes
Sittin' here restin' my bones
And this loneliness won't leave me alone, listen
Two thousand miles, I roam
Just to make this dock my home
Now I'm just gon' sit, at the dock of the bay
Watchin' the tide roll away, ooh yeah
Sittin' on the dock of the bay
Wastin' time - Hudba
This song holds a special place in my heart. While in NOLA celebrating my 40th birthday, Kevin and I were walking back to our hotel after an evening on Bourbon Street when we were approached by a gentleman who offered to sing us a song (for a few bucks, of course). Kevin agreed and requested Dock of the Bay. The gent, who appeared to live on the street, sang a moving acappella rendition of the song, which we enjoyed very much. Two days later Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans. From the comfort of Minnesota we watched news coverage of the devastation and wondered what became of the singing gent. Since then, each time I hear this song I think of him and hope he is well. Thanks for the memory and your beautiful cover of this classic. You done good.
Thank you for sharing that cool story with us, Lisa!
One of the first 8 cassettes I bought many moons ago
Sounds like a good time!
Thank you
Thank YOU!

Thank ya!
That was awesome brother!!
Thanks, man!

Thank ya!
Blushing, sometimes listening to songs, i whistle so loud, i get on my nerves...so silly! My dad taught me to whistle when i was knee high to grasshoppers. Lol
No whistling Dixie when that guitar chimes a tune..
Adam Style
Thank ya, Jamie!
Bring new exciting life to an ol tune !!!!
Thank ya, Chuck!
I go to your channel for inspiration. I hope to be as talented as you one day soon. Im learning this song tomorrow.
Your one of my random youtube mentors
That's awesome of you to share, Robbie! This song isn't too hard to learn or sing. It's more about the passion you deliver with it rather than the technical proficiency. Try to put yourself in Otis's shoes when you perform it.
The whistle bit, I just improvise a load of lyrics ... I've just never mastered whistling. Great version of a classic !
Thanks, dude!
A great cover of one of the greatest songs of all time.
Much appreciated, buddy!
Your voice sounds very natural in this song!
Thanks, buddy!
Thank you so much Adam. Perfect song for me this week. Lost my oldest sister unexpectedly this weekend. Spent 3 days on the dock of Pensacola Bay trying to figure this out. Great musical medicine.
Sorry to hear that, dude. I lost my sister a few years ago. It still feels strange sometimes. Until y'all meet again!
Just wanted to let you know that I been practicing this song for a long time and always look to CZcams for covers of songs I want to cover and your version has given me so much inspiration dude. Much appreciated 🤘
Oh very nice! Thank you so much, Tommy, and best of luck!
Nice version! I'll this your way. Thanks. Cheers from Sampa, Brazil.
This makes me happy mate... What a way to start my Friday. Always a big thankyou from me in Adelaide, Australia!
You are very welcome! I would love to visit Australia sometime!
This song is made for your voice. Love it. Who cares if you whistle? Keep singing.
That's the plan! Thank ya!
Great job Adam ! I loved your guitar whistle solo ! I used to listened to this song by Otis Redding, for many many years, as I´m a big fan of Otis and Wilson Pickett, as well,... once I consider they both the best on Soul music. Then, I became a fan of " Playing for change " covering this song. Now, ..... You nailed it Adam !! I love the way you sing the songs!!
They had major contributions to the future of all music. Especially rock n roll.
@@AdamPearceMusic Yeah, sure !!
This was fab. I've been singing Youngblood's, "come on people now..." Hint, hint...:)
Ha! I'll have to look into that!
Man oh man , you are a very talented young man.
Well thank ya, Tim!
Sitting here resting my bones...waiting for every Thursday
I knew you would be!
@@AdamPearceMusic lol
Awesome keep playing 🎹🎼🎶🎶
Will do!
Fantastic 😀👍 absolutely loved it!! Thanks so much for the performance!! Cheers!!
Thank you very much!
@@AdamPearceMusic No problem at all Adam!! it was my pleasure. Excited to hear more from ya!! 😀
Beautiful
Thank you, Don!
LOL! I Can Not Whisle in tune either!! It drives me crazy..😅😅😅 Great cover of an awesome classic! You still can do anything!
I can whistle in tune I just can't produce any volume. It's super low. 😂
You did it again man, you took a classic song and made your version my favorite one. Nothing against the whistling, but I do believe I prefer that played on guitar. I know you keep saying this isn’t a country channel, but I have a challenge for you. Tennessee Whisky.
I actually have a ton of Stapleton songs on here but I never learned Tennessee Whiskey. I feel like everyone is covering that one.
@@AdamPearceMusic you are absolutely correct, hence the reason it’s a challenge. I believe you could take that song and really do something special with it. I get that everybody is doing it and that is why I suggested Eddie Money’s Shakin’ as opposed to Two Tickets to Paradise. Regardless of what you do it will be amazing. I’m just an old guy with ADHD running his mouth!
Im nowhere near at your level of mastery but I just learned how to play this song myself. Damn good tune. My next song I'm working on getting down is "She talks to Angels" , then "Soulshine" and then an entire list of other classics
Those two songs are a little more tricky. Best of luck, dude!
@@AdamPearceMusic Thanks. I got the beginning riffs and harmonics down for "She talks to Angels" but still gotta get better at the bar chords and haven't even gotten around to learning the bridge yet. Then once I do get all that down better, it's a matter of trying to learn how to sing over the chords and keep my rhythm n timing down
Hey man, are you a fan of David Bowie? I gotta hear you sing “Andy Warhol”.. or “Janine” !! Those songs definitely fit your vibe I feel.
Anyway, you’re a great guitarist, and singer! I know you probably have a whole list for future videos, and you probably get requests on the daily.. but man! You singing Bowie would make my day.
I'm all about singing Bowie! I'll look into it!
Yup, one of the great classics, nicely done. I can't whistle either... ❤️👏❤️👏❤️👏❤️
Thank ya! Pegge!
Now there's three of us non-whistlers.
Wow, awesome cover on this classic song. Great job
It's a good tune!
@@AdamPearceMusic Yes it is. I wrote that song title down earlier today.
Nice job as always Adam! Listening to your cover made me whistle! Ha! Just kidding, your stuff is amazing and getting better all the time!
Hey if you can whistle you should enjoy it!
I just discovered your channel through a friend of mine and I really love your covers man. What do you think about the song Horse with no name, do you think it could fit in your repertoire ?
I did some America. Can definitely look into that one!
You okay standard tuning in your vids ? I've never heard such a beautiful acoustic vocal matchup in my life. Ive jammed out to catfish Cooley and billy strings and Phillip sayce and Stevie ray Vaughan acoustic and your literally up there with the greats . Im starting a fishing and guitar playing channel with camping adventures and I know there alot to it but all I hope is to inspire others like me and to have fun . You have inspired me in so many ways and it's a life changing expirence to hear you play
Oh man, this is the most motivational comment ever! Thank you so much for taking the time to share those kind words with me.
I wish you best of luck on your project as well!
And I do multiple tunings in my vids but this one was standard.
Sing "Nothing Else Matters" pleease
That's a good one!
Brilliant cover! What guitar do you use? Cheers
Thank you, Lee! It's a Martin Custom Shop.
Every time I watch one of your videos I always think to myself am I too caught up in tablature should I just feel it because sometimes when I’m just plucking in the bedroom or the living room or the back porch I play something that I’ve never learned before it just came out I’m not using any cord progression that I’m aware of because I don’t really know chord progressions but at some point in time I really would love to know what I’m doing I’ve been studying and honestly nothing really makes sense yet and I’m having a hard time
I think that fact that you're pondering these things shows great development. The funny thing about growing as a musician is that you don't realize that you're doing it. One day you just realize how much better you were a year ago.
Never stop pushing yourself and asking yourself these type of questions. You're constantly getting better.
