Not "always." Many say "never again" and never drink again. But that would not be a fun story to watch in a tv show or movie.

I think the man in this show is The Creep for trying to change this woman in the first place. Then all throughout the show he just absolutely everything he can to feed her insecurities. It's like he wanted her to drink again.
