One of the delights of this series is Karloff himself doing the on-screen introductions. He memorized them all, and usually did them in a single take (as well as doing several different episode-intros at a single session, in order to save time and $). As a narrator, he couldn't be beat; if you ever have time and really think about it, listen to the audio only of the 1966 "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"; Karloff's narration is superb...world-class. I saw this episode on TV as a kid of 11 years old. That last scene showing her face scared the crap out of me. That memory has been with me all of my life. Tonight I got to see it again for the second time at 72 years of age. Brought a smile to my face to come full circle with Miss DeVore. Great story. Definitely recommended. ;)

Plus we were totally enthralled with the language and classic looks. Some might say cheesy but I love them and a big THANK YOU.

I only recently saw a few episodes of the worst TV series ever, but it lasted 11 seasons: The Walking Dead. "Walking" is what happens, a lot. Different groups of people walk in the woods and kill each other on encounter. Maybe they encounter a group of Dead walking in the woods and then neutralize them or are killed by them. Repeat in the next episode.

I love Boris Karloff, he's an amazing actor, and human being (I've read that he consistently helped kids that were scared, he'd go get them and walk to the set with them). It's hard form me to watch the series because of the blasting string section blowing me out of bed every 10 minutes. If you doubt me, play one for yourself and listen. The minute they take a break the volume goes from 3 up to 11. If you put the volume down so the orchestra doesn't make your ears bleed, you can't hear their voices. Karloff's distinctive voice lends a grand air of sophistication mixed with menace to the narration. His show, like many others of the 1950's and 1960's, gave work to many fine actors and actresses. John Fiedler was one such great character actor. He always looked the same, no matter what era he acted in. Brilliant in any role, and he'll always be remembered as Mr. Hengist in Star Trek's Wolf in the Fold episode, and as lawyer J. Noble Daggett in the original True Grit.

I love hats but my God, the hats in the 1960's were designed by European artists making fun of Americans! The one Arabella wore in the bar looked like a straw waste basket for a bathroom turned up-side-down with plastic flowers sewed onto it, and tall enough for a beehive hairdo! HILARIOUS!

I remember the one with the self drawing portrait of a killer .That one was well acted .And also one with a body snatcher .A young couple had to fight them off.I am showing this one to my wife but that ending did creep me out a lot as a child.

It is funny that you said you saw this as a kid because I had the same experience; I was home sick fromschool in about the 5th grade and they were running these on rerun in the afternoons. My mom and I watched it and I was so scared that I didn't look at what she looked like at the end. I tried to have my mom describe what she looked like and as I grew up I always wished I had looked. Finally, I found this episode forty something years later! ...........I still couldn't look --- what does she look like?

@@danlrusso Through the whole episode, I thought the hands were the scariest thing, at the end it was the face of Miss Devore that was the most frightening! 😱 It looked like the hands but with dark, almost burn-like spots on the cheeks. The bulging eyes made it even worse! You have to peek at the end and see it! 😂

The THRILLER TV show had one distinct feature that THE TWILIGHT ZONE and OUTER LIMITS sorely lacked : SEX APPEAL ! It featured some of the 60s sexiest women at the beginning of their careers : Ursula Andress, Mary Tyler Moore, Elizabeth Montgomery, etc. AND some rather unknown but stunning women like the one who gets hanged here at the beginning : Pamela Searle ! VAVOOM !! (Heck, one episode called YOURS TRULY JACK THE RIPPER even features then-famous stripper Beverly Powers in a sexy musical number).
