- Our green tree python setup failed. The plants got destroyed but I won't let our green tree python be the boss and ruin our green tree python bioactive setup. We will repair with much more sturdy plants inside the green tree python setup.

Ideally the tank needs to be at least double that size to allow more space for plant growth and more areas for him to move around considering his size. I'm not a green tree python expert but from a few zoo trips recently, I've learnt that they spend most of their time in the forest canopy in branches and hunt at night. It's too dry in there for him, and the plants, so daily misting should sort that. Plus, you need organic topsoil to mix in with the substrate to create a more advanced mix, why not add in some coconut fibre, sphagnum moss and leaf litter to create a more humid environment, which will benefit the snake with shedding and enrichment, plus enhance plant growth by slowly releasing moisture via the substrate. For a strong snake, you need strong, sturdy plants (I don't really know what to advise here, as I'm not a green tree python expert) but the bromeliads, spider plants and pothos alone don't match up to the strength of the snake, so you need something like a vine or similar with solid branches. Chester Zoo may be able to advise on suitable plants for this particular species, or if you google their natural habitat.
And yet the expert breeders say an enclosure half this size is perfect for there full life.
@@NORTHERNEXOTICS so called expert breeders.. It would be good to find a true definition of an expert breeder in the reptile hobby. I'm not disputing the fact that there are people who know what they're doing and can strike a great balance between healthy care, enrichment and breeding.. But sadly, there are so many who don't follow these basic principles.
Is there a tutorial on how you built this enclosure?
I can relate to this I've recently done a bioactive for our beardie and having same issue he's stomping all over plants and even tho we got big bulky plants he literally jumps off his high logs on to them..he seems to be enjoying him self tho I'm left with snapped plants so now I need to find more cactus and alo plants let's see him jump on them 😂😂 keep these useful vids coming these have helped me lots

The big pothos plant in mushu's enclosure actually looks like a big philodendron to me!! You might want to check that out to make sure! It doesn't really make a difference, but I thought I'd mention it! Great video, cheers!

Lovely set up, I’ve been hesitant to keep a GTP due in great part to all the info out there suggesting they’ll only thrive in sterile 2x2x2 tubs.it defeats the purpose of keeping a display animal if the set up itself is an eye sore. Its really encouraging to see that yours is doing so well and that you keep it in such a beautiful set up. Have you found your clean up crew to be sufficient to keep the set up clean or do you still spot clean it ?
Will all snakes it's always wise to spot clean. The clean up crew can deal with it but it takes weeks. Within those weeks decease could spread so I spot clean just to be safe
Are you not worried about bio security with moving a plant from a viv of a wild caught lizard directly to a viv of a relatively sensitive captive bred snake, with no cleaning or quarantining?
Mushu hasn't been inside that enclosure with that plant for over a month. The plant had plenty of time away from animals to show any sign of infection . All was well but well spotted
@@NORTHERNEXOTICS the plant wouldn’t show signs of an infection that could effect an animal.
I have ZERO luck with live plants in enclosures for that reason... I can't even keep dandilions alive!!! 🤣🤣

If you have an enclosure that is housing a heavy body animal, that will be interacting with it. You cannot stop it instantly. depending on the size of the animal, might have to wait months before considering it. Thats why it failed.
How often do you feed Attenborough the green tree python?
When ever I see him out actively hunting I'll feed him. I watch his body language
Do u ever hold your reptiles?
Some tolerate handling. Some don't. Why add extra stress to an animal that doesn't appreciate handling.
@@NORTHERNEXOTICS u gotta get them used to it. But everyone believes different things when it comes to animals. I was just curious as too why I've never seen u hold any of your animals. I recently got a baby royal python and he didn't like being held but now he does.
How often do you water your plants I have a bioactive crested gecko thanks for the help with that amazing video but my plants keep dying off I was watering every 2 days?
Mostly light mist every day if the enclosure drys out through the day then a heavy mist once a week
