16.14 the soviets werent the first to do that maybe in tank production yea but in wagon factories for trains it was done the dutch did it a lot in the 30's when building our first DMU's
Isn't the Sledgehammer something because of KV-2 turret being too heavy and the idea being modified because of tranmission from memory, I mean like a child play of sending a message foward.

T-34 we’re cramped and when the gun was fired it would let out smoke into the turret and crew compartment and I don’t think the T-34 has ventilation

I can't really say anything about the people who scream "uGh BaD tAnK." My channel is basically built on calling tanks that never even physically existed bad based on a bunch of arbitrary factors that probably wouldn't even exist in the real world.
1) Выражение "Починить кувалдой" пошло от шутки советских танкистов про простоту ремонта Т-34 - говорили что он чинился кувалдой и *** матерью. Т-34 был простым и действительно очень просто чинился, не сложные поломки или разрыв гусеницы могли быть починены одним человеком довольно быстро.
2) Жаль что ни слова про броню Т-34 и ее состав, потому что многие считают ее гомогенной - это не так. Т-34 имел броню марки МЗ-2, разрабатывавшуюся в с 30-х годов (Грубо говоря - она используется и сейчас под маркой 8С) - ее состав был следующий: углерода 0,22 - 0,27, кремния 1,10 - 1,40, марганца 1,20 - 1,50, хрома 0,70 - 1,00, никеля 1,2 - 1,55, молибдена 0,15 - 0,25, серы и фосфора не более 0,02 в отдельности.
Такой состав брони высокой твердости содержал всего порядка 0,3% углерода - и сделано это было умышленно, позволило снизить хрупкость деталей (при соответствующей термообработке). При этом сохраняя высокую снарядостойкость - за счет легирующих элементов, марганца, кремния, и при этом хорошо сваривалась. К сожалению в 1941 году на заводах в основном работали женщины и дети, либо под постоянными бомбежками, либо в условиях эвакуации за уралом, и технологии производства нарушались. Но в 1942-ом году такой проблемы уже не было. Чуть позже для брони Т-34-85 уже использовалась новая бронесталь, 71Л - у Т-34-85 сделали существенно более толстой броню башни, и понадобился новый высоколегированный сплав. Но и там содержание углерода было порядка 0,3%. Более того, на Т-34-85 для разных элементов бронезащиты использовали разные типы брони. Таким образом советские специалисты при производстве танковой брони отказалась от использования цементации и наращивания количества углерода - добиваясь высокой твердости и вязкости за счет тщательно подобранного комплекта легирующих элементов. Что позволило получить высокую твердость, снарядостойкость - при сохранении вязкости брони и минимальном количестве вторичных осколков. К слову:

А нет его. В принципе. На технике одной и той же марки могла применяться совершенно разная броня - в зависимости от того что у конкретной фирмы есть в наличии, что есть из легирующих добавок. Тем не менее - по результатам трофейный исследований РККА в 1940-ом году трофейного танка Т-3, было установлено что немцы использовали броню с минимальным количеством легирующих добавок и большим (0.5%) содержанием углерода ( такой же результат был получен исследователями в Бовингтоне, в 1943-ем году и американцами в 1945-ом, изучая уже пантеру). Знающие люди уже все поняли, для остальных поясню, что такая броня имеет очень высокую твердость, и... И все. Это ее единственный плюс. Аналог такой брони, броня марки 2П была разработана в 1866-ом в РИ и модернизирована в СССР в 1930-ом, используется как противопульная и сейчас - как танковая она была признана непригодной в тех же 1930-х годах. По факту она не намного лучше чугуна, она ужасно сваривается, много весит, дает кучу вторичных осколков даже при не пробитии... Единственными двумя танками Рейха, где был иной тип брони - это Тигр и Фердинанд. Фердинанд имел "корабельную" броню с поверхностной закалкой, тигр имел состав аналогичный советскому, и это главная причина его огромной стоимости. Сам Гудериан писал, что "наша легированная сталь, качество которой снижалось отсутствием необходимого сырья, также уступала легированной стали русских".
3) Наклон брони в бортах был на Т-34 потому что тогда это было ещё актуально, особенно против мелкокалиберных орудий. После войны это не имело смысла, да и это добавляло сложности производству.
4) Говоря что Т-34 - лучший танк войны, имеется ввиду не только его конструкция, но и его достижения. Если бы не он - Европа говорила бы по немецки, а 300+ миллионов советских людей бы погибли ради "жизненного пространства". К слову о потерях: они были велики, да, но тут виноват не сам танк и даже не доктрина, а характер боевых действий - по сути после декабря 41-го года наступление вёл уже Советский союз от Москвы и до Берлина - можете сами по карте посмотреть на сколько это огромная территория, полностью взятая врагом и состоящая из его укреплений, при поддержке авиации и артиллерии самой обученной и самой жестокой армии мира, против армии рабочих и крестьян 16-24 год возрастом, которым просто хотелось жить и многих из которых, (спасибо отсталой царской империи) приходилось учить даже таким простым вещам, как отличать правую сторону от левой. Основные потери танков были от мин и противотанковой артиллерии, а с учетом того что поле боя не редко оставалось за противником - подбитые машины не было возможности отремонтировать. Нюансов было много и это на целую лекцию - скажу вкратце: не вините ни танк, ни доктрину, они тут не при чем. Это была ужасная война, и надеюсь вы такое на своей земле никогда не увидите.

Simon. And yeah he has a lot of channels. Warographics I think being his most popular..? Generally though his videos tend to be fairly decent for the amount of time crunching they do to pack as much content into 15min as possible. For that I do commend him and the team behind him.
His multitude of videos also make for excellent background white noise while working on stuff 😂
I've listened to the whole of CC, prob half of BB and DTU, and a handful of videos from the probably dozen of his other channels. His tangents are a little much now and again, but he has enough content for you to have stuff to listen to for literal months, even years if you're not picky and just want a funny british bald man talking in the background.
His largest (and I believe first/main) channel is "Today I found out"
I've always seen his channels as like video formats of wikipedia articles, hes a good springboard for new topics but I wouldnt call him a professional or cite him as a source

Yo Eta, there's this paid game I play in my phone (I think you can play it in pc) that's called "Firefight". It's an RTS game with historical places like villers bocage and other places. You basically lead a few squads of infantry and some other vehicles like armored cars and TANKS (a lot of them). Getting used to the game is not that easy and not that hard. You can play every nation in the allies and axis team except china. (including trash italy tanks). ok bye pls play game. If you actually play the game I can die peacefully

One thing with Soviets, and btw, I'm totally on the Anti Commie side here, is that people go like "oh they communist, oh they lost the space race, oh the Soviet Union fell, oh Russia in the 90s" and forget that, they were on top of many things, just like what China is and gonna be in some others.

The problem with T-34 for me is that... it shouldn't exist. If you have same engine and gun as KV-1, have to use just as complex transmission, far more complex suspension then KV-1, have more complex to weld hull and hope to get the same radio as KV-1(difference is that KV-1 will get it as priority), then just put me into KV-1 and shut up "but mah T-34 was cheaper." It wasn't. I choose KV-1. Or KV-1S if that is already available.
And in some weird alternate reality soviets just put KV-1 turret(3 men, good visibility, good ventilation) on T-34M hull(vertical side armor, torsion bars, sideways engine) and invented MBTs:D
