I remember just asking my mom when I should start shaving and she said “idk, do you wanna start now?” And I was like “sure”. And then we went to the store, got me a razor and shaving cream and showed me. She also told me she only bought shaving cream to make me feel better and she will never do it again. She said it was a scam and you can just use body wash, best tip I’ve ever gotten. Trust me, just put some body wash, hell, some shampoo on your legs and skip wasting money on shaving cream.
I use cheap conditioner. I have thick hair and it's the ONLY thing that prevents ingrown hair. No amount of exfoliation and elapitory cream has ever stopped it, only conditioner. If you have thick dark hair, try some Mane and Tail on those legs!
My mom forced me to shave in 4th grade and was called disgusting when I didn’t. I wish parents would see what they are doing and how it affects their child, too many extremes. Let children figure out themselves on their own
I think it might be to show either you don't need to shave your legs or them not wanting the their child to shave their legs because the hair usually gets thicker, darker and grows more quickly. I'm not 100 percent sure the reasoning
Every one of these videos hurts my heart a little more. This is how parents lose the open and honest communication with their kids. When you lose that communication, you can't be there in full to support your kids and to help them and to teach them. Stop being weird about dumb little things and treat your kids like humans. That is all.
I remember my mom didn't want me shaving at too much of an early age as she didn't want me to become insecure about it. However, she did understand that eventually I would want to with all the other girls doing it and let me. She's the best. I don't understand what the main issue is with shaving.
My mom used to force me to shave my legs before eventually I had a very intense argument about it with her in front of my grandma who said "She doesn't have to shave her legs! It's her choice and you damn well shouldn't force her!". My mom tried defending it a little more before giving up and gave me shit about it for years. I haven't shaved my legs since, and I'm perfectly happy about it.
Whenever my future kid wants to start shaving, ill let them! I will teach and show them how to shave, and what to not do. Then they can shave whenever they want, whenever theyre ready. I started shaving when I was around 9 1/2

I'm definitely teaching my child how to shave as soon as they need it. I started noticing it in 6th grade and wasn't allowed to shave until freshman year of high school. I was a cheerleader and came home crying because of all the comments.
My mom actually taught me. Fortunately I have a mom who was really excited to teach me things like this and she always answers all my questions. I’m so grateful for her. ❤️
Please do teach your daughters how ! My mother just threw a razor at me and said figure it out. Same with tampons and the whole period experience. I'm looking forward to the day I teach both my daughters how to take care of their bodies and not to be ashamed/embarrassed.
i honestly don’t understand why some parents do this. Fortunately, I don’t have a lot of hair on my legs and it’s not visible so I don’t have to shave, and in any case I’d prefer to wax it.
my mom was the opposite, she lowkey shamed me if I hadn't shaved in a while like armpits and legs, but now she has been pretty cool about it, especially once I made it clear I don't care if some weirdo gets offended that I have some bodyhair and that I'll shave if I feel like it
Yes, my daughter is 17 and stubbornly independent and doesn't care about what others think about her. She says it's their problem not hers if they don't like it
When I turned 14-15 my mom told me how to shave and that was that. If I ever had questions she’d answer them but me being the uncomfortable and awkward person I was I didn’t. Idk why parents feel the need to not teach their kids how to do things like that. Sure shaving isn’t needed nor necessary but if your kid wants to shave you should allow them to.
My mom helped me shave for the first time when I was in 4th grade and started to become conscious of how my legs looked. She said growing up she got bullied a lot for it and don’t want me to go through that too. She is my best friend and I love her so much for everything she has done and continues to do for me
lol everyone in the comments is talking about how their mom doesn’t want them shaving and i’m the one who doesnt want to shave and my mom makes me 👁👄👁💁♀️
The only reason I would not want my kid to shave is if they feel pressured by others to do it (something that has happened to me my whole life - I hate shaving and waxing and the last time I had waxing done I broke down in the salon because of past experiences) and I don’t know how to shave - never learned and never wanted to - If I were ever to have a child, I’d leave it up to THEM and then ALONE. No friends, no S.Os, no nothing but their own, individual choice..
My mom didn’t shame me into shaving but when I started middle school I had really bad hairy legs like I had hairy legs them most boys. She told me she got bullied for it and she was worried I would be and she said if I decided too she would teach me. First time I shaved I was in awe about how soft it was.
Damn man I know this is a bit awkward but I first asked my mom if I can shave like around 12 and I’m 13 now and I’m scared to ask and I want to because I’m very embarrassed by it. How should I ask her…?
This is such a bizarre concept to me. Having grown up with severe PCOS, I never even got to think about “learning” to shave. It was just done. My mom started helping me shave my underarms at seven (yes, that’s how bad it was). By fifth grade, I started shaving my legs. It’s baffling how some kids need permission for how to treat their own body.
I was on the swim team for most of my life growing up. When I told my mom I wanted to start shaving she sat down with me and taught me how to safely do it. I think she understood I was embarrassed by the leg hair and wanted to fit in.
It’s crazy to me when I hear girls talk about how their parents (especially moms) don’t want them shaving until a certain age. Like, when I started getting dark hair, I asked my mom if I could remove it, and she immediately took me on a shopping spree for shaving products. But maybe that’s just because my mom was never controlling and wanted me to be happy and healthy. She also let me go on birth control when I was 13 because she heard it could help with period cramps and knew I was suffering with PCOS. My mom just really cared about me and wanted me to be as happy as I could be.
when i first started shaving my mom was so mad i didn’t understand, i was so insecure wearing shorts. after i kept doing it no matter what she stopped caring 💀 i can’t imagine doing that to my baby, i’m pregnant now and i’ll teach my little angel if she wants to learn 💗
I feel bad for people who weren’t and aren’t allowed to leave. My mom was by no means the best but I still remember the day I asked to start shaving. She said of course you can and showed me how to use the razors she bought and gave me my very own same with my father
my mom thought the same way, i wasn't allowed perfume/shaving/jeans that actually fit. the list goes on but now im 31 and have a daughter of my my own and she will not be treated like that by me .
My moms only rule about shaving when we were young was that we had to start with an electric shaver so we wouldn’t hurt ourselves 😅 full circle because I had to go back to an electric shaver at 26 due to skin irritation
My mom would tell me it's something you don't need to do, but if you want to it's OK. She was a nurse and never sugar-coated teaching me about hygiene. Sometimes you might need to shave. If I wanted to know something, we would talk about it. She even let me look at some if her medical books for clarification.
Omg felt this. I did the same. My legs were on fire. I couldn't stand being bullied and didn't know how to ask my mum so I stole hers and shaved my legs raw.
The way this is so relatable. My mother never let me shave my legs. The only reason I wanted to shave them was because of P.E. when I had to change into shorts. I was made fun of a lot and made me extremely insecure. My mom had little to no body hair so she didn't bother to relate to me. She never even taught me to shave no matter how much I asked. When she finally gave me permission to shave she proceeded to act disappointed in me and told me wouldn't teach me, I would just have to learn on my own. I had to ask my sister in law to teach me.
Girls used to make fun of me for not shaving my legs but my mom wouldn’t teach me how. I was in 8th grade. I feel like I could’ve started shaving by then 😂
I understand. My father didn't want me shaving, I was only in the 5th grade but very dark hair. My step mother bought me what I needed and told me to hide it from my dad
This reminds me of when I was younger about 14 and started growing hair everywhere imaginable , I was so embarrassed by it that I shaved it off and I’ll never ever forget how my mom tried to make me show her I shaved my wooha in front of so many people (uncles , aunts ) I felt so ashamed for something that a lot of people do
My mom sat me down when I was 10 and taught me everything I needed to know at the time about shaving. About 6 months later I moved in with my grandparents and they were so against it. Was very weird for me at such a young age being told go ahead it’s your body and then it changes to you’re to young for that in the blink of an eye…
My grandma never wanted me to shave, so my friends older sister taught me. When my girls have asked, I explained that they want to wait for as long as they can but if they ever feel uncomfortable with the way their hair looks on their legs or under their arms I will and do teach them how to take care of it. I have one who is almost 18 and shaves all the time. One who is almost 17 that shaves when she wears shorts. And one who is almost 14 and has not asked me or her sisters yet (I check with them to make sure). But when she asks either myself or one of her sisters will teach her with a new razor all her own.
I didn’t teach my daughter to shave, my sister did. Mind you my daughter has a severe bleeding disorder and when I went to teach her my hands were too shaky and I was afraid of cutting her. My sister taught her and my youngest both. Even helped me find them razors that worked best for them. Sometimes it really does take a village. My Dad taught my son, mainly because his father couldn’t grow facial hair so hadn’t ever really had to shave. I helped teach my sister’s kids things that she couldn’t, so it worked out well for all 6 kids between us.
I’m twelve, and I asked my father about a month ago if we could have a sit-down talk. I told him about how I think I’m old enough, and have hit puberty and that I think I would like to start shaving my legs and arms. We had a little talk, resulting in buying a pack of 2 shavers with 5 blades, and a 2 pack of shaving cream. I got them a few days later and took a shower trying them out. I had to search up some videos on CZcams, but as I’m very good at research, I found out how to quickly. It worked out well. I think if the child is mature enough to have a conversation with the parent(s) about it, they are mature enough to do it if properly shown how. Ps: my mom died when I was six, that’s why I had nobody to show me how.
I only spent summers with my mom-getting into her car "when did you start shaving?" My dad and grandma hadn't noticed in 5 months and she did in 5 minutes.
My mother was only ever 'mad' when i shaved my arms becacse she believed the myth if you shave it, it comes back thicker and darker amd warned me my arm hair would now be worse than before and id have to do it forevwr now, which it never was dsrker or worse but i still shave all of my arms just bc ive always hated the feeling of my hair against clothes
My mum was not really there. So my dad taught me to shave. He said one leg on the bathroom sink, then shave the leg. I was so scared to cut myself because in movies guys always had paper and blod when they shave their beards. My dad told me you only cut your self if it is old so you have to press to get the hairs off. He also told me to shave the arm pits and when I am older I have to shave down there, but I would have to figure that one out on my own. He did his best. :)
My grandmother was like this I lived with her and a family friend who happened to be a guy, dude taught me how to shave my legs cause my grandma wouldn't miss him a lot he was like my grandpa ❤️
I was in middle school when I wanted to start shaving my arms and legs. My mom wouldn’t let me start until the middle of 8th grade. I legitimately told her it was one of the reasons I was getting bullied and it still took her forever to let up, when she did she said if I cut myself when shaving it meant I wasn’t ready and I’d have to wait even longer.
I didn't start shaving until my dad commented about my body hair when I was 12 and now I can't walk outside if my body hair even looks mildly noticeable 🙃
I was 9 or 10 when I asked my mom if she could show me how to shave. There was a pool party coming up and I was very aware of how much hair and how dark it was on my legs. She was a little surprised, but she showed me how to shave right after. Thank goodness.
to everyone one saying they don’t understand the no shaving thing, as someone who literally got beat the first time i got caught for shaving it’s about boys. if i were to shave i’d get yelled out saying i’m only trying to get male attention and “do you wanna get pregnant”
@@dragonire_dino0856 maybe not all parents but it’s a very common thing for younger girls not to be allowed to do certain things because of the “male attention” it brings even when those things have nothing to do with it. i’ve heard multiple parents talk about how they don’t care what their son does because he can’t get pregnant but when it comes to little girls it’s a different story.
I was forbidden from shaving until I got my first period and it was embarrassing. I remember being made fun of for having dark leg hair in 6th grade. I was so worried about being bullied for my armpit hair that I trimmed it with nail clippers until I was allowed to shave.
I didn’t realize that parents were like this, my mom showed me how to shave and it was just a normal thing. I was also a competitive swimmer since the age of 10 so I had to learn for that but it wasn’t a big deal.
I literally never knew this was a thing. At my school most girls moms made them start shaving when they were like 9-11 years old. I’ve never heard of parents thinking it isn’t appropriate for kids to shave, only the opposite, that it’s necessary to be presentable and lady like(not saying I agree).
Lol. I started shaving mine at nine. I used my Dads straight edge razor. He about flipped when he found out. Thought Mom was using it. Then he thought my brothers were. Total shock when it was me. He knew because he had to keep sharpening it. I had my own safety razor in no time. But nothing beats a straight edge.😅
My grandmother raised me. She refused to let me shave my legs, but eventually i just did it anyway. I didnt know i needed shaving cream and my legs were on fire, but at least they were smooth.
When I first mentioned to my mom that I wanted to shave my legs she squealed because she was excited that her “baby is growing up” brought me into the bathroom and showed me how to do it lol.
I remember learning to shave, and I di not like it. My skin is too sensitive for normal razors, so I used hair removal cream at first. But I found an electric razor that works for me perfectly. But also still occasionally use the cream.

Reminds me of when I had to fight my dad about getting padded bras. 1. He assumed it was the same as a push up so he wouldn't let me get any for the longest time. I'm trying to keep my nips from poking through my shirt man
I remember just asking my mom when I should start shaving and she said “idk, do you wanna start now?” And I was like “sure”.
@@Perceptionreflection to be fair main and tail for everything it's all I use in not a woman but I have long hair that stuff is amazing
I use conditioner cause it just makes it easier
I put conditioner makes your legs hella soft
I can only use certain shaving creams to shave because of how my sensitive my skin is so i understand the scam part but for some it is necessary
Why does is seem like parents dont want there children to shave? At least now i have seen it a lot
My mom yells at me when I shave :/
That's v strange because they're not letting their kids do what they want--
@@Raraiscoolaf why? That doesnt make any sense
You do not throw away vanilla Bean Noel lotion that is expensive it’s like 15 bucks a bottle
15 bucks is not a lot where I live it’s 30
That didn’t stop me from buying 15 different products 😳
I remember my mom didn't want me shaving at too much of an early age as she didn't want me to become insecure about it. However, she did understand that eventually I would want to with all the other girls doing it and let me. She's the best.
I don't understand what the main issue is with shaving.
I'm so lucky to have a mom who taught me everything she could. I never had any experiences like this. That's absolutely insane
You mother is an angel from the heavens
Ana’s portrayal of the mother always kills me!
🤣😂😅
My mom used to force me to shave my legs before eventually I had a very intense argument about it with her in front of my grandma who said "She doesn't have to shave her legs! It's her choice and you damn well shouldn't force her!". My mom tried defending it a little more before giving up and gave me shit about it for years. I haven't shaved my legs since, and I'm perfectly happy about it.
Whenever my future kid wants to start shaving, ill let them! I will teach and show them how to shave, and what to not do. Then they can shave whenever they want, whenever theyre ready.
I started shaving when I was around 9 1/2
how did you ask i am nervous like everyone is shaving and i’m like the only who doesn’t please helpppppp
@@heidi5667 talk to your mom. I grew armour hairs at 10 and I went to my mom and she just taught me how. All parents are different but just sit down and talk to your mom about it.
@@Bethanywi thank you!
I am 14 and I did ask my mom about it and she just yelled at me saying "they will grow back faster and your too young for it "
I'm definitely teaching my child how to shave as soon as they need it.
I’m glad my mom wasn’t like this, she was like ok I’m getting you a razor and your going to use it then she showed me how to use it
Yeah same she saw my armpits were hairy and showed me how to shave them and then gave me a razor that i used to shave my legs and anything else.
My mom did the same thing but I also feel like it’s equally as bad to force kids to shave as it is to force them not to
I want to be a parent for the sole purpose of raising a well rounded human being. Heaven knows we need more of them.
my mom was the opposite, she lowkey shamed me if I hadn't shaved in a while like armpits and legs, but now she has been pretty cool about it, especially once I made it clear I don't care if some weirdo gets offended that I have some bodyhair and that I'll shave if I feel like it
You are like my daughter
@@chrisbolhuis297 ...is that a good thing?
Yes, my daughter is 17 and stubbornly independent and doesn't care about what others think about her. She says it's their problem not hers if they don't like it
When I turned 14-15 my mom told me how to shave and that was that. If I ever had questions she’d answer them but me being the uncomfortable and awkward person I was I didn’t. Idk why parents feel the need to not teach their kids how to do things like that. Sure shaving isn’t needed nor necessary but if your kid wants to shave you should allow them to.
The bath and boy works lotions are fire! My mom got me like a few and now I am hooked.
Parents act like they wasn't teens before adults
My mom helped me shave for the first time when I was in 4th grade and started to become conscious of how my legs looked. She said growing up she got bullied a lot for it and don’t want me to go through that too. She is my best friend and I love her so much for everything she has done and continues to do for me
lol everyone in the comments is talking about how their mom doesn’t want them shaving and i’m the one who doesnt want to shave and my mom makes me 👁👄👁💁♀️
Lol dang
SAME😂😂😂😂
Same, they call me nasty until I do it because they think it's unhygienic🙄
@@narwhalthesnowman same! even though it has nothing to do with hygiene
That’s just as bad as not letting your kids shave. It’s their choice whether they want to shave or not.
I litteraly started shaving at 10 lol, my mom trusted me and I respect her for that.
Is that a thing, like she's a teenager why keep her from shaving if she wants to
a lot of parents stupidly think it’s promiscuous, my mom wouldn’t let me shave but luckily my dad dgaf and bought me a razor and shaving cream lol
I wrap it in tissue😌
This is such a bizarre concept to me. Having grown up with severe PCOS, I never even got to think about “learning” to shave. It was just done. My mom started helping me shave my underarms at seven (yes, that’s how bad it was). By fifth grade, I started shaving my legs. It’s baffling how some kids need permission for how to treat their own body.
Same
I was on the swim team for most of my life growing up. When I told my mom I wanted to start shaving she sat down with me and taught me how to safely do it. I think she understood I was embarrassed by the leg hair and wanted to fit in.
Jesus Christ 💗u
what are these?
What she fished out of the trash? It's a razor.
If you are talking about the shorts in general: No idea
@@Solanin0803 i saw it’s like a short series where the mom doesn’t want her daughter to shave so she has to sneak it
Her mom doesn’t want her to shave so she sneaks it
My mom taught me but with a warning of ‘once you start you really can’t stop’ and she wasn’t wrong 😂
This mom can never mind her own business💀
First
Everytime i see these videos i automatically feel bad for the trauma seemingly she as well as a lot of others have gone through with parents like that
It’s crazy to me when I hear girls talk about how their parents (especially moms) don’t want them shaving until a certain age.
She said of course you can and showed me how to use the razors she bought and gave me my very own same with my father
my mom thought the same way, i wasn't allowed perfume/shaving/jeans that actually fit. the list goes on but now im 31 and have a daughter of my my own and she will not be treated like that by me .
my mom would always tell me how ugly hairy legs were and then yelled at me when i shaved them
My moms only rule about shaving when we were young was that we had to start with an electric shaver so we wouldn’t hurt ourselves 😅 full circle because I had to go back to an electric shaver at 26 due to skin irritation
“They our to meny suns in their products” 😂
The way this is so relatable. My mother never let me shave my legs. The only reason I wanted to shave them was because of P.E. when I had to change into shorts. I was made fun of a lot and made me extremely insecure. My mom had little to no body hair so she didn't bother to relate to me. She never even taught me to shave no matter how much I asked. When she finally gave me permission to shave she proceeded to act disappointed in me and told me wouldn't teach me, I would just have to learn on my own. I had to ask my sister in law to teach me.
I feel this. I got teased for having hairy legs but my mom refused to let me shave. I was so humiliated!
Tbh had the opposite problem, I didn't want to shave but was shamed for not shaving.
Girls used to make fun of me for not shaving my legs but my mom wouldn’t teach me how. I was in 8th grade. I feel like I could’ve started shaving by then 😂
Strict parents raise sneaky children
I understand. My father didn't want me shaving, I was only in the 5th grade but very dark hair. My step mother bought me what I needed and told me to hide it from my dad
This reminds me of when I was younger about 14 and started growing hair everywhere imaginable , I was so embarrassed by it that I shaved it off and I’ll never ever forget how my mom tried to make me show her I shaved my wooha in front of so many people (uncles , aunts ) I felt so ashamed for something that a lot of people do
My mom was so against me wanting to shave when i was a preteen that I also had to secretly shave lol
How can I block this toxic bs
My mom literally looked at me 13 year old legs and said "alright dear, this is how you shave" i have thick brown hair so
My grandma never wanted me to shave, so my friends older sister taught me.
My brothers so confused 😂😂
Cause Everyone walks around with a receipt in their pocket 😂
I didn’t teach my daughter to shave, my sister did. Mind you my daughter has a severe bleeding disorder and when I went to teach her my hands were too shaky and I was afraid of cutting her. My sister taught her and my youngest both. Even helped me find them razors that worked best for them. Sometimes it really does take a village. My Dad taught my son, mainly because his father couldn’t grow facial hair so hadn’t ever really had to shave. I helped teach my sister’s kids things that she couldn’t, so it worked out well for all 6 kids between us.
My mom taught me as soon, as I asked. No question.
My mom bullied me into shaving when i was younger 😂
Every parent has their reasons no matter how good or bad those reasons are. Not all parents are going to have the same reasoning for what they do.
When I was little, my mom made this cream or oil since I was terrified of shaving and I felt it was unsafe. The cream basically just removed the hair
These need to stop.
I was forbidden from shaving until I got my first period and it was embarrassing. I remember being made fun of for having dark leg hair in 6th grade. I was so worried about being bullied for my armpit hair that I trimmed it with nail clippers until I was allowed to shave.
My mother wouldn't let me shave. I got so insecure about it and eventually i asked my older sister to teach me how😂😭
I didn’t realize that parents were like this, my mom showed me how to shave and it was just a normal thing.
…
I assumed this was a classic case of “date-night rugburn.”
I started shaving in the fourth grade. I was self conscious about my dark hair on my pale skin. Also my mom did it, and I wanted to be like mom. 🤣
When I first mentioned to my mom that I wanted to shave my legs she squealed because she was excited that her “baby is growing up” brought me into the bathroom and showed me how to do it lol.
I remember my mom didn’t want to teach me until I sliced off a nice strip of my skin with one of those razors 😭😭😭
No sneaky kid would ever leave evidence like that
i remember when my father yelled at me because i wanted to shave lol that is still stuck with me
I remember learning to shave, and I di not like it. My skin is too sensitive for normal razors, so I used hair removal cream at first. But I found an electric razor that works for me perfectly. But also still occasionally use the cream.
Oh man I’m so lucky I came from a home with parents that were super open about everything and I could talk to them about anything. My mum taught me how to shave my legs when I told her I wanted to start at 13. I’m sorry for kids who grew up in unaccepting or restricted environments
My mom let me shave when I was like 9 because my body had so much hair on it like it had to go away immediately
I thought my child as soon as she was 12 and told her how to do it when she was ready to start and it was an easy transition..
It’s so weird that some parents don’t let their daughters shave.. I’ve always had dark leg hair so my mom let me shave when I was like 10. She sat by the bathtub with me while I was wearing my shorts and showed me how to do it right. Not that big of a deal 🤷🏻♀️
