This channel changed how I see movies.
Samee 🎥✨
definitely I now see all the CGI and stunts in a different way..
@@donterray7500 me too, on one hand it takes a bit of the magic out, on the other I appreciate the behind the scenes work so much more
@@JustKrin it takes the magic out most the times for me especially series.. due to the time strain for the to put up a new episode every week the CGI looks awful to me now.. and this was never a prob to me until I start watching this channel
Same, now when i watch movies i just sit closer and watch the details lol
"So Gui, what's it like to prepare for a stunt like that."
"Accept mortality"
Certified insane, certified bad ass. *waves goofily* Hi Frikcha! Nice to meet you
LOL
That was really cool what Gui was saying about Jamie Fox - about how a lead actor's responsibilities are more than just being in front of the camera. Really eye opening! Cheers for the insight Gui :)
And the funny thing is. The moment I heard that it made a lot of sense. The lead is most likely a senior actor or has at least a ton of experience and know that there are hardships especially when you do the same work for less than millions. So he or she needs to try to elevate the mood at hard times to then elevate the movie itself.
Actors are still stars among their peers
Japanese Spider-Man has some wild, wild stunt work.
ASpec outside of Stellaris? Wow. I always thought you were the construct of a AI or something... Maybe the Worm I don't know.
Best part of this series is that I'll be watching a movie and randomly spot Gui in the middle of an action sequence.
@@bonpaoi4736 I beg u pardon

Raycons truly are the RAID: Shadow Legends of earbuds.
and just like how raid shadow legends is a shit game, raycons are a shit product its just all base and then everything else is tinny as fuck
@@NotPofkp preorder sasmung s21 get free pro earbuds lol
Glad I went with taotronics earbuds instead. Same form factor, a fraction of the price, and much better audio :>
Yeah they have put more thought into the packaging instead of the product and there are some cheaper options and better quality
eh at least they're still a product that the average person would like. Raid shadow legends is just an app designed to siphon as much money out of people as possible through inconveniences
Woah wtf that clip of Gui doing that flip and Jamie Foxx reacting... that jump is soooo high I can’t believe it. Is that normal for a stuntman to be able to do that kind of flip? Or is Gui just a monster?
Also I love Gui’s hearty laugh it’s contagious.
Time stamp?
@@yakshgandhi9289 6:37.
Thats not that insane. If you are lean you can do that with 6 months dedicated practice or if youre athletic already maybe in a month to three. Lets be clear its not easy but its very much doable for almost everyone.
If it hasnt been done already, The Mask of Zorro. Got some nice campy choreography, a "missed" landing onto a horse, and some riding horse stunts.
I love the scene when Zorro flips onto the table and sword fights. It feels as though he's performing on a stage.
Man, this series feels so short when Gui is around. Come on man, 12 minutes isn't enough, at least make it 20 minutes or something.
I second that
@@andrewt9128 i Third that :| is this expression correct XD
@@solokain1 fourth that eee
I would guess that they do a couple hours at a time, then cut it into these smaller clips so that Gui doesn't have to come back every other week. They probably all do wardrobe changes to make it appear like separate times. Idk
I'd watch a 25 minute show of these guys, for seasons.
The fact that they actually did that fall in the rundown is insane.
That coordinator is a big Chad.
I like that movie quite a bit, I won't deny it.
@@clamum me too
They apparently did 13 jumps a day for 4 days.
That movie is called welcome to the jungle. I have it on dvd. Whys it now called the rundown.
These could be 20+ minutes and I’d watch every minute. I’m sure I’m not alone in that! Great series.
Thank you for Kenshin!
Everybody loves when Gui is back on the channel
He’s the best. I hope he gets to work on Black Panther 2
@@AirCarlos97 Totally. Gui's my favorite guest. I've been pushing on various MCU threads for Gui to double for the late and missed Chadwick Boseman to give T'Challa some final scenes as a farewell.

Love to see you surprise a stuntman with clips from Sing’n in the Rain. Not just the bit about being a stuntman but the “make them laugh” scene with Donald O’Connor
The jousting stunts from A Knights Tale I think would be a fun time

I've heard pretty bad things about raycon's quality. Gargantuan marketing budget though, which if it means sponsorship of corridor, I'm okay to watch the ad segment
@@snork_games To my knowledge, Raycon has extra bass. A LOT of extra bass. So if you are just using them to listen to certain genres they excel, but if you want full spectrum they aren't the best. In that sense, I'd compare them to skullcandy.

Lau Kar Wing is a real martial arts master. He is the guy fighting Sammo. He is a direct descendent of Wong Fei Hung - in terms of martial arts training. He wasn't opera trained, he was doubled by Yuen Biao for the gymnastic moves. His old brother is legendary Shaw Brothers director Lau Kar Leung. They're both extraordinary martial arts exponents.
I would love to see an extra long Stunt men react video with Both Eric and Gui together
Or they all of them on do a big react thing then make a mini movie at the end with a few stunts
There’s this Bollywood movie called Bhavesh Joshi, unlike many other Bollywood movies this has realistic action sequences. You guys should react to it. It’s my favourite Bollywood movie.
I'll watch this lol. Which streaming site?
Its an amazing movie. Unfortunately, I remember watching this movie in the theatre and it was just me and my cousin. :/
It's basically Indian Batman/Daredevil. I don't think there is something unique in it.
D-Day(2013) also has realistic, fast paced action sequences.

Anyone else still waiting for the promised Hobbit VFX reaction that never happened lol? Love to see them do the Hobbit trilogy in the future.
Ya fr sure
Possibly hasn't happened as the keep getting copyright strikes against them for the sounds/music when the use any clips from LOTR or The Hobbit. They have spoke about in a few of their podcasts.
They alredy did it I think, I saw videos about the hobbit.
Maybe they need a good guest? Like someone that worked on it?
Still waiting
I'd love to see them talk about the horseshoe scene in Shanghai Noon with Jackie Chan
“The Villainess” would be cool to have broken down. Very unique action scenes. Love the show!
Everytime I see them talking about Rurouni kenshin Live action, the part of me that kept asking for their reaction feels Satisfaction.
czcams.com/video/Taf_cpzzO3s/video.html
czcams.com/channels/LkQZ0iM2qoibxD9gcxdvGQ.html
Well thank you for asking because those clips were mind blowing. I need to look into that more.
The “broken ribs” move is called a senton in pro-wrestling. You just tense those muscles and take it.
As far as bumping down the hill, I loved doing that in winter when I was a pro-wrestler. But a snowy hill has much fewer pointy objects and other inconsistencies to hurt yourself on.
You're right but when wrestlers take a move like that or from the ropes they place their arms in certain a way so they can absorb the shock, the stuntman here didnt't, probably because he had padding.
@@heisenbergbad5375 Not saying he wasn’t padded, but padding still means dude’s weight landed on top of him. When a wrestler lands on another wrestler, that other wrestler just tenses up, arms at their side. It’s all about compression and tension. You don’t want your arms out to get landed on. You can’t “fake” it.
- a guy who’s been the other wrestler
Yeah, just do it without skies on, or make sure they break away clean or you will tear some tendon.. I think a lot of laymen has tried that on.
You guys HAVE to react to the sword fighting scenes in The Court Jester starring Danny Kaye, Basil Rathbone, and the amazing Glynis Johns!!! It's literally the origin for “The best swordsman does not fear the second best, he fears the worst since there’s no telling what that idiot is going to do.” quote.
The rundown scene reminds me of my childhood antics. We lived at the top of a hill and one of my favorite things to do was, when it was snowing I'd run and do a flip and just the roll down the hill at full speed
Seeing someone talk about their passion like Gui does is such an amazing thing. You can tell he truly loves what he does and everything about the craft. Such a cool guy.
And he literally throws himself into pain, but does it so we can enjoy the awesome intensity of a story. Historical, modern, action, all of those stories are being told visually by people like him committing entirely to a scene, often knowing that they'll never be recognized or praised. I love him, and all of his fellows in their craft. Amy is a master of her craft as well, and a great actor too! I love all of this, best wishes everybody! Stay safe!
Gui recorded a video for my dad wishing me happy birthday when I was 13 while he was working on a movie. Only found this out recently lmao. He's super nice, as if you can't tell that from the videos.
That's so cool! And he does give off a real nice guy vibe. Would love to see him and Wren do something together. Doesn't matter what, as log as it's nice 😅😃
@@MaverickMyth haha yeah for sure
The Rurouni Kenshin trilogy is full of great battle sequences. Beyond typical "fan-boying", they're really great works. Like Gui was pointing out they have a quick pace, but show long bits; long enough to demonstrate the current abilities of the character and establish a predicament. I'd suggest reviewing a few more for some of the gnarly stunts in them.
They were able to use physical stunts and some practical effects to display some of the super-human abilities depicted in the anime, and for the too over the top things, they were able to compromise amicably in my opinion. But the fight scenes are like what the fight scenes in Batman Begins was trying to do but provides more established shots. There's still some quick cuts and pans, but you can at least establish that someone is definitely not having a good time instead of, "shadows, blur, flash, blur, more blurs, batman, blur, shadows, fade, blur."
It took me a while to really find something unique to suggest you react to. I was watching FRED ESTAIRE dancing in Royal Wedding. He dances on the roof on a Royal Wedding. Could you guys talk about the physicality of old dancers dancing in rollerblades and fighting and fencing and dancing on revolving sets and the sheer strength and cardio they needed back in the day?!
Biggest unexpected thing I've learned from the Stuntmen React series; Good stunt teams are obsessed with character development and telling that story in their choreography
"I think you just break your ribs"
Man those guys were savage
Hong Kong back then, yeah, they probably did just end up with broken ribs.

@@munboy The floor of the ring in wrestling cushions a lot of the impact.
Apollo 13 microgravity simulation for filming definitely qualifies as a stunt. I would love to see a reaction to the actors actually floating without wires, and floating objects back and forth to one another. To do that, they had to shoot on a set build inside an aircraft decending from high altitude at the speed of gravity, and ascend again between takes.
Love Stuntmen react. It is so cool to have the opportunity to see how these stunts were pulled off. This series really makes me appreciate the hard work these talented men and women have put in. I would love to see Jackie Chan sit on that couch and go over some of his stunts, though I think that episode would need to bee in several chapters because there is so much to cover.
Would love to see To Cruise join you guys as well and hear his take on some of his stunts. Love him or hate him he is dedicated to his craft. How cool would a Tom Cruise / Christopher Nolan film be?!
The Rurouni Kenshin films have some of the best sword choreography, really impressive stuff.
We watched it on theatres both 1 and 2 because my mom loves rorouni kenshin while i have no idea what it is.. I didn't expect it to be that good.. Started to watch the anime after.. Thanks mom😁
@@bonsaiibeach3675 It's an awesome franchise, I heard there's a new one coming out.
czcams.com/video/Taf_cpzzO3s/video.html
@@bonsaiibeach3675 I showed the first movie to my then roomie (had to find subtitles first for him) and he loved it having no idea what the source material was what so ever. The Kenshin movies were the first ones to give me hope about a GOOD anime to live action adaptation, something that showed love for the source material and had a budget. Those hopes died a violent death with the Full Metal Alchemist movie and whatever that Attack On Titan movie was *shudder*.
Okay, real question. Live action animes have alway disappointed me, but that being said, I have never seen the Rurouni Kenshin movies. So, here's my question because these fight scenes look amazing: Are the movies worth it for anything else other than the fight scenes? I grew up with Rurouni Kenshin when the anime was on Toonami and it was one of my favorites, but I've been kind of scared to watch the live action ones because I don't want to "ruin the experience" per se.
The amount of times you guys referenced WWE in this video I think you guys should do a Stuntmen React to wrestling. That stunt where the guy jumps directly onto the other guys ribs? There’s at least two current wrestlers on WWE that have very similar moves. (Kevin Owens does the move almost exactly, and Finn Balor does something similar only he’s double foot stomping into their ribs from the top rope.)
Would be fun to see you guys react to absurd crap these guys do to themselves every week. (Or every night when they are touring!)
czcams.com/channels/LkQZ0iM2qoibxD9gcxdvGQ.html
That's my thought :0 They do so much effort to make fights look awesome and make it safer
Na bro just wrestlers react to wrestling
Yeah it was funny them talking about wrestling in that scene not knowing its a wrestling move... KO's one is brutal because he is big, but Ricochet's 630 splash is probably the best senton out there right now!
Get someone from WWE or AEW onto the show and look at some of the biggest/most famous bumps. Mankind off the top of the cage, etc. I'd love that.
I really love the episodes that feature Gui. Not only does he provide some truly awesome insight, he just seems like a really nice dude.
Honestly, the double hit technique is massively underrated and underused in movies. I often feel like it's nice to subvert the opponent's expectations with a double or even triple hit while fencing or boxing
Also 12:51 wtf Gui coronaS pushR
In The Rundown it's actually The Rock's cousin who is doubling for him for the stunts
Awesome!
He also broke his leg during a stunt later in the film where he falls down a tree.
They should have looked at the similar stunt from Lone Survivor, that one isn't so much through brush as it is against rocks and mountain sides, i bet that one hurt more!
... "the boulder"?
Imagine your cousin giving you a gig where you pretend to be him and roll down a mountain and break your bones
me: How did you do that without breaking ur ribs
Stunt actor: By breaking my ribs
me: Cool, how do I do that
Pads don't help with the pressure you'll feel, they'll just make the first impact slower. The ribs may have been broken.
just look at Jackie Chan who almost killed himself in Project A, these guys were insane but awesome

czcams.com/channels/LkQZ0iM2qoibxD9gcxdvGQ.html
The old Chinese Kung Fu films from the 70s and 80s had some legit stunts and fight choreography that influence what we even have today. A few of my favorite fights scenes ever are anything in the Drunken Master films, Jackie Chan vs Benny Urquidez in Wheels on Meals, Yuen Biao vs Frankie Chan in The Prodigal Son, Jackie Chan vs Brad Allen in Gorgeous and Jet Li vs Yasuaki Kurata.
We need more Alita Battle Angel stunts/VFX, there are some AMAZING shots. One shot in particular is when a big robot/humanoid type deal gets absolutely shredded by an industrial shredder and you watch him slowly struggle and it feels like an eternity
You know Gui is a great guest when he makes everyone wanna be stuntmen themselves
Showing the “Rundown” scene reminds me about the scene from “Lone Survivor” where they are falling down the cliffs.....y’all should look at that one!!
Funny because they are both from the same director
they did breakdown that one a while ago, it wasnt as steep as depicted so it was remarkably safe, it was just shot and edited beautifully to make it seem like a horrendous fall down the hill
I was just about to say that too, lol!
but nothing comes close to the falling down hills scene in Hot Rod, lol.
So for the Knockabout clip, I think the pro wrestling comparison is actually pretty significant since I think it might explain how the guy didn't break his ribs.
It looks like near the end, the guy on the ground lifts his lep up in a way as to where it'll break the fall of the guy falling a bit. Of course, it could also just be that the force is being distributed evenly enough as to where it doesn't have enough direct force to break ribs.
Though, he also could've just broken his ribs.
It would've been so badass if Van Damme rolled off the car and landed in full splits.
Anybody else rewatch “The Rundown” that movie still slaps!
Yup I've always liked it. Got it on DVD shortly after it originally released. I don't think it's a very popular movie but I always enjoy watching it. Scott and Johnson are great together in it.
It is a classic in my book. Although it was little confusing to figure out what movie they were talking about, it was released in Australia as "Welcome to the jungle", first time i've heard it referred to as 'the rundown'.

Can’t wait for Jackie Chan to be on a stunt men react !! 💯
This! But it would have to be 4 hours long....and I would watch every single second of it!
He'd probably drop down from the ceiling, land on the railing, slide down the steps, roll over, pick himself up, do a front flip, cartwheel over the couch, sit down and go "Hey, 'sup."
And hopefully not about just his movies, to let him actually analyze and wonder too.
I love how often Gui comes over, love seeing the friendship.
He's such a warm and chill guy, and I love how humble he is. He's not bombastic or "LOOK AT ME! I"M A STUNT!" he's just like "yeah here's how we did this, here's what I did, here's how you can do it too and get into this stuff if you want learn," that's a pro all the way. Secure and sexy as hell. I mean, well no yeah he's just sexy as hell.

Gui is an absolute G, and both his and Niko's insight was absolutely mind blowing at times. Niko's commentary on the mini problems and solutions in a fight scene was... it was just incredibly insightful!

If you haven’t already you guys should check out the “Lone Survivor” cliff fall scene. Absolutely crazy, just like the one in this video.
They have done it.
I actually think Lone Survivor is the more painful one - it wasn't so much against brush so they didn't have bushes and foliage slowing them down, it was just rock and dirt on the sides of a hill. But i think Lone Survivor is more edited than Rundown,
I immediately thought of that scene when they showed the cliff scene in the Rundown.

I’ve used ray on for a year now. They are super cheap, a lot of the other ones I’ve used are like $500 $400 ray con has a $75 option and a $120 option. They sound great and I’ve dropped them more times than I can count, still works fine.
The Rundown is a great popcorn flick, loved it.
I love how much I've learnt from this channel to the point where I see editing cuts in the uploads themselves
i'm kinda sad that they didn't correct their mistake from the previous episode; that there's no blood in Rurouni Kenshin, because he's using the reverse blade katana that doesn't actually cut anybody, it just gives some really bad bruises

a while back you asked about stunts with animals. I would love to see a clip from A KNIGHTS TALE, with heath ledger and some amazing stunts with horses and jousting.
OMGOSH I love that movie so much, I was going to be a British Literature major before chronic illness took me out of university, and then I get Chaucer's Knight's Tale with HEATH LEDGER! I was a teenage girl at the time sooooooooooooooooooooooooo................................................ But yeah, Alan Tudyk and Heath Ledger, the blacksmith's a girl!! with great design and this trippy modern music environment with some beautiful choreography that a HEMA student like me appreciated greatly.....
It's a very underlooked masterpiece in my opinion, and I've love to see an in depth dive regarding like how animal/equestrian arts are handled in the modern digital era compared to the "old days" of film. I mean, we're getting really good at hiding things and being more seamless, but you can still tell when the poor artist ran out of time and had to make sure he didn't kill a real horse falling down that hill over there.

You should do a VFX reaction for Star Trek. Any of them. They perfected using models and seamlessly shifted to cutting edge CGI in the 90s. Not to mention their traditionally award winning makeup, which is now flawlessly interwoven with CGI.
By far, Gui is my favorite guest on here. He's so cool and has such good insight on everything plus he's funny and he's done all this cool stuff. It's like sitting down and listening to your cool uncle tell you about the time he did something crazy like do a kick flip over a car
Also I would love to see an episode with Horse stunts, from Modern Westerns including "Sunset" with Bruce Willis, "Silverado" with Costner,, and The Magnificent 7 remake.
Thanks to you guys I now watch stunts in movies and think hmm they didn't cut away, cool... I love it 😂😂😂
There is a scene in the movie "Lone Survivor", starring Mark Walberg where they fall off the side of a mountain. Talk about that one, please.
They have in a previous episode. I can't remember which one though.
The fact that the real men had no choice to jump not once, but multiple times down sheer cliffs means that if anything that scene was toned down.

Gui is insightful and also very inspirational, he makes me want to go do stunts that are impossible, for me at least lol
That samurai fight scene is awesome!😆😆👌👌❤❤❤
Awesome insight guys, thanks! Gui is Awesome!
Rurouni Kenshin is the only live-action adaptation of an anime that didn't disappoint the fans.
Agreed. Lets see if Cowboy Bebop hopefully breaks that.
literally
I heard they’re making a fourth one, not sure tho
Wrong.... Inuyashiki live action adaptation was superb!
Adaptation of Ajin was also brilliant.
Cory in the House never disappointed anybody.
My biggest stunt was secretly opening the fridge without any noise at 2 AM while me and my wife are on a diet.
I think we’re practicing the same stunts.
Okay, now do the Rurouni Kenshin fight in the boat with the crazy guy. That scene blew my mind.
Final fight with Shishio?
Hey guys. I don't have a clip but just want to say I did my first fight scene job this past Saturday. Love what you're doing. Great job.
Skinny Tiger, Fatty Dragon is a Sammo Hung movie that has some fun fights.
I would love to see you react to:
The Chemical Brothers - Wide Open (Music Video)
It's a VFX Masterpiece..
Oh hi DJS, didnt expect to see you here
ooh just checked it out, it is
@@richardindi2077 There is a behind the scenes of Wide Open available on CZcams, the guys who did it (The Mill?) are pretty proud of their work there. Just search for "wide open behind the scenes" and pick the one on the Chemical Brothers' channel.
I want to see that
That was some phenomenal SFX. The shadow of the mesh leg on the whole leg... The attention to detail is wow, just wow.
i luved how they watched rounin kenshin bc it is one of my fav movies, thx guys!!!
Gui is so freaking awesome, amazing video as always.
