My friends you are both technically correct. It really depends which Green Lantern and which Thor we're talking about. Thor does get the edge against most of them however; he can easily break most constructs, I'd wager that Hal or Kyle would have the best shot against Thor.

I go with you with the idea that ALL those characters are only a teeny bit smarter than average. If they truly were geniuses, most of the television watching world wouldn't be able to follow and the show would flop. Average people can't catch the fastest runners. And Holmes' side kick was Watson and House's is Wilson. They didn't really try to be subtle about it :-) Most modern 'genius, detective' type shows take inspiration from Sherlock Holmes, just as most modern fantasies borrow from Lord of the Rings. They were the first of their kind and so provide the path.
What is funny is the fact that most of the characters in the series who are criminals often underestimate Patrick Jane. In addition, there are times when he may "act" less intelligent in order to obtain information via body language or cues that may be useful to solve a case and it is priceless ! 👍👍
