  • When you attend Mass this Sunday, consider trying these 3 simple practices!
In this video, Fr. Jonah Teller explains how to "bookend" your Mass, truly listen to the prayers, and place your heart on the altar. By doing so, you can experience a more profound and powerful connection to Jesus and the sacrifice of the Mass.
Fr. Jonah performs with the Hillbilly Thomists, who have a brand new album called "Marigold," available everywhere for purchase and streaming [www.hillbillyt...]

Insert a “Franciscan/Dominican” joke here. All in good fun of course. 😂 Thank you both for this. In all seriousness these micro-lessons on faith formation and how to really get everything we can out of our mass and our Catholic religion helps so much. Timing is too perfect for me at the time of this post (21st Sunday Ordinary Time Year B) because we heard about making a choice to believe in todays mass readings and then what to do next. God is so good. Thank you for showing us that, what we can do next in our decision to believe is, refine and enforce the basics of our faith. To recognize we might have actually taken these things/acts at Mass for granted or not understood fully, or how to make the “BLP” in our lives an eternal signal to Christ that we love, adore, honor and respect. Blessings to all. Poco a poco! 🙏✌️❤️

I truly enjoyed this. I do go early to church and I don’t run out . I’m a lector and the first time I was up on the alter I felt so humbled I was about to cry . Now I would like to work more with the church . I’m going to speak to my priest next week if he would allow me to take classes so I can be a Eucharist minister because the ones we have now are getting old and sick and the church needs more people to help. I feel God calling me and I didn’t even know the problem was that big that the lady in charge of catechism. God was talking to me because right away I told her I want to help and take the classes . Pray I get there 🙏 I love going to church and means more to me as my faith grows.

The mass culture in Puerto Rico is very different from USA which some channels I see are the traditional way I grew up with mass and catholic school . Yes it’s the same format mass in Puerto Rico but there are lots of transitions I miss from USA mass. Have a blessed weekend . Believe it or not u must realize that everyday there are less willing to be a Priest and less nuns too. If we don’t have a Priest we can’t have communion. • @kilo3989
      @kilo3989 Před 14 dny

I'm not an ordained minister, but one thing I remember hearing from the Dominicans is: "Pray as you can, not as you can't." I have ADHD and struggle with some of the prayers/meditations that require a certain duration or amount of attention. So I use whatever helps I can to make it easier--for the Rosary, I like praying along with Bishop Barron's recordings here on CZcams, because he offers an image or two to reflect on as we pray.
Or there's a 24-hour live Rosary where hundreds of people from all over the world tune in to the recorded Rosary--and sometimes I only have time to pray a decade or two, but it's always so powerful to know that, even though my prayer and reflection may not be as "pretty" as I'd like, by uniting myself with others we can build each other up and intercede for one another's intentions, you know? 😊
But most of all, remember: God doesn't ask the impossible of us. When He asks us to pray, the attempt and intention to pray well is enough. 💛 I'll pray for you and your loved ones, may you all have peace!

Love isn’t a feeling. Love is more than that. It is a choice. We get too wrapped up in our emotions and allow how we feel about something to determine its worth.
Love is trusting and willing the good of the other.
I pray that anyone who is suffering from spiritual desolation continues to try to go to mass and receive the eucharist as often as possible. I hope people suffering also are able to choose the strength in reconciliation. I pray that people stop living as victims and start living as survivors.
Life is hard, no doubt. One minute at a time…..it is all any of us can do. Then those minutes become hours, then days, then weeks and finally years.
Find the help you need. It may be a priest, a nun, a family member, a friend or a stranger. Be vulnerable and share that part of yourself with another….someone is always waiting for you to open that door. And the Lord will always be beside you.

Even apart from religion, I think that if a group is gathered for one specific purpose but one member is doing his own thing in the midst then that is contrary to the purpose of coming to be a part of the group at that time. Imagine that scenario in team sport, etc.
The Mass is the communal offering up of the Sacrifice that is the Lamb of God, main focus, while we offer up our own tnks/pleas/joys/sorrows/selves in union. That's the "participate."

How about you making sure the choir can actually sing and doesn't curdle cream at 100 yards. And nobody comes to hear a poor choir sing... No need for five verses of the entrance song. Also make sure the lector can read and speaks loudly enough to be heard and that if the priest comes from India or Africa or the Caribbean or speaks English as a second language that his accent isn't so heavy that his homily sounds like 20 minutes of complete and utter gibberish.
Oh and how about reducing the use of incense to a minimum, it stinks up the Church and is a carcinogen. Also, you don't need to conduct the Asperges rite on a routine Sunday in ordinary time... It's not Easter Sunday.
Let"s see what else... How about ending the Mass creep. Sunday Mass used to be completed in around 50 minutes. My parish offered Sunday Masses on the hour from 6:00am till Noon, every Sunday for over 50 years... now many Masses take over 75 minutes. I leave after 70 minutes and it's often still during the communion rite. You should not feel like you have a captive audience.
Oh and you don't need to read the announcements at the end of Mass... that's the purpose of the bulletin and believe it or not I learned to read and have usually read the complete bulletin by the end of Mass.
So, before discussing what I should do during Mass how about paying some attention to what you should and shouldn't do. I haven't heard a decent homily over the course of the past ten years and that includes the very few homilies that were even intelligible.
