Prayers
I often ask for God to take pain of others - especially loved ones - and give it to me instead so I can offer it up. I do this often for My daughter who has left the church and suffers from several health issues/pain. One night in the middle of the night, my brother in anther state texted me. He’s very devout Catholic and was suffering from nerve pain in his legs for weeks and wasn’t sleeping. I was up with insomnia and my hip pain. I prayed with my whole heart that God give his pain to me so he could get some sleep. A couple minutes later my leg started hurting. My brother texted me and said, “hmmm, just like that - poof, my legs don’t hurt.” I was so stunned that I gasped. Then I thanked God. Next morning he told me he slept the whole night for the first time in weeks. That was the best pain I had ever experienced. I endured it with great joy. God is good.
St. Faustina said in her diary:
“If only the suffering soul knew how it is loved by God, it would die of joy and excess of happiness! Some day, we will know the value of suffering, but then we will no longer be able to suffer. The present moment is ours.”

Lost my infant son when I was 24, I’ve never known such deep loss and pain. It took a long time and I wouldn’t change my life at all. (I’m now 62). I figured that if the holy mother could bear the loss of her adult son who died for all of us, I could bear my own loss, knowing he will be eternally with God, free from the turmoil of this world. I had stage 4 cancer 14 years ago ! When I was told by my team of Dr's I went home & thought ! There is nothing I can do but pray & put all my trust in God & my Angel ! Exactly! I had stage 3 cancer of the left Pons that left me with neuropathy of the entire right side and in a wheelchair and I give my pain and difficulty up to God for the blood and pain his son suffered for me.

Praying for you, Lisa. Do not lose hope. My husband had Stage IV kidney cancer and was given under two years and nothing positive except “There is lots of scientific study and new treatment options all of the time.” Well, one of those (Opdivo) has shrunk his tumors and he is in remission eight years later. Trust in the Lord and let HIS will be done. God bless you and give you strength, hope, courage, and his peace.
I'm caring for my mother. She's in the final stages of dementia. I asked God to walk with me. He has made it so much easier. I love my heavenly Father with all my heart. I accept the task joyfully. I will be there for my mum to the end ❤

I have been extremely mentally ill for most of my life. I essentially lost my youth. (I'm 37.) I prayed to God all that time and felt no answer. I wanted to at least know what good it would achieve. Still no answer. Today I am mentally healthy. It's been about 5 years.
God may have let this occur so I can help others who are mentally ill. Thank you God.

I will say that physical health and mental health are very related. Check out the brain energy theory of mental health. It helped me. Exercise, go to bed at a consistent time and eat unprocessed foods. It's the only theory I've read that makes sense.

The concept of offering it up was one of the first things that drew me to the Catholic Church (adult convert here). It made intuitive sense to me. Praying for you, Fr. Mike, and for everyone who has posted or will post here.

There are several struggling with the same and you are not alone.. it is exhausting in every way but you need to fight it in prayer. Jesus is with you and without him we have no hope. so hold on to him and no matter how difficult it is and I know how difficult it can be..He will get you through this. He will use us as testimonies to help a hundred others get out of this. Just stay strong and don't stop praying. Say the rosary everyday and invoke the protection of our blessed Mother and St. Micheal and their powerful intercession. You will come out of this. Jesus got you. Hold on.

@@haitaelpastor976 God did not give your mom the brain tumor. Since Adam and Eve, we have free will and things will just happen and we will suffer. At that point, we have free will. Choose wisely on how you want to handle the situation. My condolences for the loss of your mother and for you to have strength to get through this difficult time.
My adult daughter disowned all of us 2 years ago. No contact. The pain is horrendous. I believe now that God is using our pain to heal her, to change her heart, to bring her home.
Tell her that if you pass how will she feel. I had been unconscious and now prolonged complicated grief since 2010...... I wouldn't wish on anybody. Family especially that reaches out is everything. I missed it. 😢😔
One of the first things they teach you in counseling is that you can’t change other people; you can only change yourself. So don’t beat yourself up, even though it’s difficult not to.💕 Where there’s a shadow, there’s a light. Look for that light. Prayers up for your family. 🥰💕🙏🏼

Please pray for me. I'm being harassed and verbally abused by an insubordinate older man at work (I'm an assistant manager). I've complained multiple times and even reported him to our hotline, but nothing is being done. I've been looking for another job, but so far nothing has come through. I can't afford to quit b/c my husband and I really need the money. Please Jesus heal this man's heart and find me a job where I'm respected and appreciated.

Have been through 5 back surgeries and suffer from extreme pain most of the time. Am severely allergic to pain medications, including aspirin. I've accepted that this is my pain to bear. I attend Adoration and Mass as often as possible. Not once have I turned against God for my pain. I am so thankful, Father, because you have given me something that will hopefully put my pain to great use. Always appreciate your videos and words of wisdom. 🙏🏻✝️❤️

@PeteHob Believe me when I say that my pain filled journey has not been easy. In the beginning, I was willing to try anything to rid me of my pain. However, allergies left me with alcohol. Because of other meds, I take for a congenital heart defect alcohol in any form would end my life. It is because of priests like Father Mike, and my own parish priest, Father Kyle, I have found more support than I could get from any physician. My faith is propped up daily. Especially when I attend Adoration and Mass. Have faith as even in the midst of agonizing moments, I know I am not suffering alone. I ask for strength and courage to face my tasks.

I understand what you are saying father Mike. I have been suffering in pain for 7 years now due to a hit and run car accident. I have tried everything to relieve my pain. My whole body is in physical pain and nothing works. I have a pinched nerve in my lower pain and it's excruciating. I can't sit down for too long. I can't stand for too long. I can't walk long distances. I have asked God and even begged God to remove my pain. And nothing I go to sleep in pain and I wake up in pain. No pain meds work. And I can't work anymore. But I've continued to pray and asked God to help me endure the pain. I will endure to pay for my sins and for the sins of others. Thank you for the video

Thank you for posting this video. I have it undiagnosable neuromuscular disorder I've been suffering 14 years! My priest said to offer it up to God and I didn't understand. I pray daily and I participate on TV daily Mass because going to church is too painful. There is no medication what procedure that has been successful. I asked my priest what is a suffering soul? He simply told me accepting my condition with Grace for those in purgatory and the suffering of the world. 14 years is a long time to look for something positive. Comming across this video today helped to reinforce my commitment ❤
God bless you I suffer from CIDP, a rare neurological disease. I go for infusion every two weeks for 5 hours & if I don’t my body will shut down, become paralyzed & in a semi coma. I’m grateful I’m still walking & moving even in pain. I’m not able to work but the Lord & especially the Blessed Mother said to offer up for others & have joy if I let go & remember to offer up. It’s our vocation to offer up. ❤

I was admitted to hospital with 5 conditions that could have killed me over a year ago. 4 were beaten in hospital
Then there was the cancer. Then chemo and surgery and rasiation.cancer was beaten too. Surgeon got it all. And I am 77. So happy to be alive. I was given a certificate for bravery and courage.
Our life is in the hands of God.

I lost my mother because of lung cancer in my teens. Once in a while I talk to her with my problems as a mother.

Complex regional pain syndrome , Ehlers Danlos syndrome , ms and had breast cancer … hideously difficult 13 years … BUT , I don’t think I would have found Jesus without being “ taken out “ … I returned to the Catholic faith in 2017 , third time doing bible in a year, daily rosaries … all of which took me out of the worst 2 1/5 years of depression with these illnesses … Lord please continue to give me the graces I need to keep offering it all up. Sacred heart of Jesus , I place all my trust in You. God bless you fr Mike , bible in a year was most def a turning point for me. ❤

One of the reasons why Catholicism appeals to me is because it tells people that they can suffer well. We don't have to run from suffering or let it defeat our spirit.

People confuse suffering with punishment, or “proof there is no God”. Suffering is a tool, often one that wakes us, and calls us to Him. To make sense of suffering is the first step to growing and living through it. Suffering teaches us, and the truth is, it’s the suffering that truly allows us to experience joy. Without suffering, joy is nothing. It’s the contrast that brings value.

I can't help but think of how relevant this is to a discussion my friend and I had last night..... normally I wouldn't ask this through a comment section but please pray for my friend. She is going through tremendous grief and depression right now and she is losing faith in our Lord. It breaks my heart.
I was injured in Marine Officer Candidate School with Long Covid and permanent back issues. This caused me to have temporary hip and ankle issues that I am having a difficult time healing. The staff there falsely accused me of malingering. And I fought back and got disability for my injuries and now I am getting medical help. Those people never apologized.
Its very hard cuz Im in pain ALL the time, and the symptoms are tough to deal with. One night was in so much pain I cried all night unable to sleep. I begged God to take the pain away. I basically said that prayer. But instead of taking the pain away, I was offered talk therapy as well as a personal trainer, who knew about how to workout with my injuries, that same day. So, I think God answered my prayers in a different way. Sometimes its not to take pain but to bring people into your life who will help carry your cross with you.
I heard the saying "Don't let the stubbed toe go, without giving it to God."
I thought it was sweet and since I'm a klutz I usually end up getting bumped up different days. I just gotta remind myself that I can offer even little things like that to God. ❤❤

Father, I needed this so much. I been praying for God to take away a sickness for 10 yrs... I try not to lose hope because I know that God can heal. Not my will.
You know I listen to Bible in a year every day and I have over the years learned to have faith and trust God. However I am human and I do get overwhelmed, so today being stressed out and overwhelmed is the first time I went to this videos and this was the first one that popped up. Once again, God showing us that he is with us always.

I wish my Lord would heal my autistic son. Seeing him struggling put me in so unbearable pain, but God is just I know he will when the time comes.
I am in the same situation and it hurts knowing God permits it.
Say the scripture isa 11:2 on your child … so I say “the spirit of the lord rests on Luke “ see 2 Tim 3:16 and heb 4:12 - the word is alive and active … Luke 11 says to persist and ask and keep on asking … our dear Lord bless you parents

I ask for your prayers as I suffered a stroke, severe brain bleed, required spinal cord surgery and have now lost normal function from the waste down, and then finally, was diagnosed with AML. All this after having been a very healthy, athletic, religiously exercising kinda guy, just 3 years ago.

I don’t feel strong! I do listen to your Bible i the Year podcast daily! I’m doing barely okay some days and I’ve asked my earthly mom for her forgiveness because one of her sons was an addict and I didn’t understand her during this “wilderness”! I do now sadly!

4:06 Our six months old nephew passed away from cancer in April. We are devastated, and I prayed almost constantly for his cure. I won't lie; I felt disappointed in God, as if I couldn't trust my best friend. I know it's God's will but it's devastating 😢
I know your pain.. your loss. We had our grandniece for only 3 weeks to love and hold her.. now she's being held in the arms of our Lord in heaven..

Such a timely video! I feel like I am telling everyone I speak to about redemptive suffering. I went to visit a man who is in a long term care facility who I spoke to a bit about the redemptive suffering. And not surprisingly he had already heard about it and how he would endure this suffering so he can get to be in heaven. I asked him if he believed it and he said he wasn't sure. I told him I did. He seemed encouraged. I have taken away many things to bring to prayer for him. I am excited to go see him again. I read to him from the bible, his name is Manuel and I read from the beginning of Matthew and I got to the part where it says "Emmanuel" that means God is with us. I told him that when we see you we know that God is with us. He said its good to be on God's side.

For many years, I, an adult, didn't understand how to offer it up. I didn't get offer it up! I needed some answers and I couldn't find it. Yet, I also didn't want to find it. On my journey of 1 hour back and forth to visit my young husband at a facility, I found it. The drive back home is a beautiful one, looking at the rolling hills that just seem to meet the sky, the heavens, is when I got it. I couldn't believe it. Just like that I got it. So I guess it's never too late to get it. Don't give up and get discouraged. If you believe, you will get it.

I've been suffering terrible back pain for about a year now with no end in sight. No treatment has helped and although my faith is strong, at times it has been shaken through this. After reading stories of Veronica and Jesse, I see that it isn't always in our time, but his, and a BIG part of our healing is our own faith. I have lots of faith, but I recently realized I carry a lot of shame from abuse I went through in my life and I often feel unworthy of healing, so I ask the Father to fill my heart with his love and drive out the doubts I have in myself so I can be confident that I am loved and I am worthy. In Jesus name, Amen.
Hi Father Mike, I was raised Baptist, but I have off and on listened to you because I have a lot of respect for you and how close you are to the lord and how you can share messages from God. Thank you especially for sharing this message. I prayed with my grandmother over helping me have peace over some abuse that happened years ago and almost losing my life in a really cruel way. I’ve been hurt very bad by other believers and family members in life, and it’s made it very hard to function sometimes because the pain molded itself into a mental illness. I want to live a life that’s honoring to God and raise children and be able to lead by example through having a closer relationship with God. Thank you for sharing guidelines on how to offer up to God. Because of the abuse, I’ve felt worthless, but it sits with me different that the pain I go through can be used by God for his glory. Thank you for sharing that you’re human too (obviously) and you too deal with pain that almost seems unfair and out of your control. I see you as someone very close to God. I see it as, even though you’re a man of God and very much more devout than me, you suffer the same like me. From the outside looking in, I know God didn’t abandon you or see you as worthless for not being able to control and fix everything that’s around you. He just asks you to seek him out and as you said offer it up. Vice versa I can see that applied to me as well. Bless you father Mike, this message brought me some needed peace tonight.

Father God give me strength I seem to bear the weight of the world on my shoulders as a single mom, I often face challenges that can seem insurmountable especially with raising two children with special needs. I’m trying to balance everything but Lord I’m struggling to make ends meet, to pay bills, and to put food on the table for my children. At times I want to give up but I know God will provide. 💕

My mom passed away 2 days ago in her sleep. My only son was killed Palm Sunday 2023. I lost my home to Hurricane Ian September 28, 2022. I don't let the circumstances overwhelm me but rely on God's love for me.

I have had chronic neck pain for over 35 years. It is a constant cross and some days it is so hard to bear. I have begged Jesus to give me strength to bear the pain. He always does. I believe that this cross is a consequence of my sins but not as a punishment so much as a share in Jesus’ suffering in order to save many souls. One day I know it will be over. I pray that God will bring much good out of this cross. I look forward to the day when God will show me the fruit that this cross has produced.

I’m a broken woman and I’m a sinful woman. I was going through like “Jane” yesterday. I went in for a breast exam due to symptoms and then they wanted to do an emergency STAT ultrasound sound. Never ever I had this before. I called my parents and told them I was scared. Then I have to remind myself, I will never get what is needed from my parents. I always carry my rosary with me. During the ultrasound I took my rosary out and said 3x’s “I give it up to you God and I trust in you Lord Jesus!”
Father Mike, you have brought me back to my faith. I do the rosary with Bishop Barron every morning when I wake up.
I do read the Bible in a year with you and pray for you every night. God does not ask much from us and when we follow HIM, we receive the fruits of God in many areas of my life. My sufferings are through Jesus Christ. Not my will.
I am also a recovering addict, going on 4 years clean. I take the blood of Christ at Mass, and with Gods help, I am not triggered by that sip. It feels my soul as food. I am in Christ, as he is in me and with HIS Father.
