We will never carry supplies that we wouldn't use on our own animals here at C.B.C. Every single product that we carry, we use.
So as Philbilly Tubbalard would say:

We have a double light fixture that came with the adult bearded dragon we got from a friend that couldn’t care for her anymore and we were sold a light bulb that’s supposed to be the uvb on one side and basking bulb on the other side I see that the tube type is what you are using is that the only one that will work for uvb lighting and if so should we just put two basking bulbs in the fixture? Also how close to the lights should the basking spot be because hers is right next to the basking and
Uvb light ? And is it ok to feed freeze dried crickets? because the crickets are so hard to feed jumping out of the cage etc and also end up dying off really fast so we have stuck to mealworms occasionally super worms I think they’re called they are big green worms and we also feed the freeze dried crickets I think it’s freeze dried lol but they are definitely dead so anyway I would appreciate anything you can answer for me thanks oh and she is shedding also I am just worried that maybe it’s because she is having the wrong light or she’s too close to it l? Oh and one more thing should she eat every day once a day or every other day because she was eating twice a day but I felt that was just a little too much and that could also be a reason for her shedding? Ok thank you

Do you feed an adult bearded dragon once a day? morning? Midday?
I think that if you make a list on paper of what you talked about on this video so that people can copy it and have something to go by daily... That would be very helpful in taking care of of their bearded dragons.

He doesn't like for anyone to watch him eat. If he doesn't want it he will fling it everywhere with his back legs. He loves mealworms. I give him crickets so he can hunt something. I love all of the information you all give. I've done so much research and compared what seems right and what is absurd. Thank you again for your help!

I am currently on my 3rd beardie from one of the big box chain stores. When I asked what I was doing wrong, the response was "nothing". Told maybe it was because the first 2 came during our big storm and not heated correctly. I had done my research and homework with other CZcams videos before getting even the 1st one (wishing I would have seen cold blooded creation videos first..... found you on pinterest). Not one employee at the pet store gave me any real info on my beardie and was actually surprised to learn some stuff from me. The water dish or how to give them a drink, the fact that they can have veggies as babies and should, also that their crickets are too big. Yeah they will eat them, they're hungry, but they should be the size between their eyes. I know now that if this beardie doesn't make it I will be purchasing one from you guys. Hands down the best info I have found. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge!!

I recently acquired my beardy as a baby back in Jan/Feb. I had an adult for a while, but he died of old age a few years back.
This one is definitely a much more picky eater than what I am use to, so I've had to find different ways to encourage him to eat.
I recently bought a cave style rock that sits in the corner and once a day I put crickets in there. Every so often, one or two will find their way out and catch his attention. When he's actually feeling hungry, he's learnt to go to the cave to see what he can find.
I tried monitoring him when he eats and remove what's left, but it's hard to maintain this when I have to go to work in the morning.
Before I bought the cave, I would put a few crickets in his cage for him to hunt during the day, but some would end up living in there with him, hiding in and amongst his driftwood perch and whatnot.
He has little to no interest in fruits, flowers and vegetables at this point. But he does like peas that he'll eat them out of my hand with no hesitation, so I've started inserting supplement pellets into each pea just to make sure that he's getting his daily vitamins.
Woodies (Australian wood roaches) are like crack for him. So much so that I need to be careful opening his cage when feeding them to him. He's already jumped out to try and get the ones I was holding. He'll also attack the side of his cage if he can hear/smell them nearby.
Once you find something that your beardy likes and will actively chase, reserve as a treat, and for use when training your dragon.

I start working on a petstore like almost a year ago and they're really nice people and I do believe they like animals, but... just a few of us are actually deeply interested in animals at all. Not even talking about the reptile area in specific (we are only 2) . So there's me and another girl ((she's the one who teach me all I know about reptiles now day because at the beginning I was so scared of those sweet little dudes XD )) , but there's a thing... and is that since I started watching your channel I noticed that we, the petstore workers get the minimum of information about reptile care. That girl knows a lot to be fair but not this much so I'm really grateful I found this channel. And now I can recommend it to my costumers and get it for my own knowledge too.

    Great videos, thanks for posting.
We got a young dragon about 10 days ago and went through the ringer over the first week trying to figure out how much it should eat. The big box store told us about 15-18 crickets at 3-5 times/day. So, we bought 100 crickets and they said we will be back in a couple of days to buy more. Other online sources provided similar advice. Our baby - about 6 inches from snout to end of tail - only ate about 3-5 crickets per day for the first week. We were alarmed thinking that relocation stress would kill it. It looked healthy, was somewhat active, and all around responsive, but we were still concerned. Eventually, I concluded that 15-18 crickets several times per day was just too much for the baby.
Anton is now eating about 5-8 crickets per meal at 2-3 times per day. He will eat what he wants and then stops and climbs up to his perch under the basking light. I take this as he is eating as much as feels like (which will obviously change as he grows). And, he comes down to gulp down chopped pepper, arugula, blueberries and carrots 2-3 times per day. We are satisfied that he is getting enough. And, we can tell he has grown in the 10 days since he joined the family.
Sometimes we just need to take nature's queues. This video confirmed that it is possible to overfeed a dragon. Thanks.

Now the person at Petland was decent enough to know what I should have for diablo except the types of food that are an everyday food and ones that are for occasions, I went and brought mostly food he can have on occasion cause of what they listed of what they gave were giving him now. Safe to say I did lots of research an watched alot of these videos and know better now. I am a little pissed off tho because my mom picked up some more crickets and they gave crickets that were too big for his size even though she told them he is a baby and she didn't know there are certain sizes he can have at this moment.

I am considering getting a beardie as a pet so I'm trying to learn as much as I can. Your videos are awesome, thanks for what you do. I hope to be able go to the Atlanta reptile expo in a couple weeks.

How do I approach picking up my large big dragon? She is comfortable with me petting and spending time with her in the cage. I got her a leash to get her out. But she freaks out when I try to pick her up. And yes I do try around her belly but I am not sure what it means to pick her up from the front. Thank you. This is my first one and she is happy and has gotten much bigger. But I have tried to pick her up since she was small. Keep up the great informative videos! Have a wonderful blessed week

Hi and thanks for these great videos you are making. When summer comes, is a bearder dragon gona be okay to come with us on a week holiday by the sea without taking all his terrarium lights and gear? Usualy when we go is 25-35 degrees Celsium, hotter in direct sun. Can he spend the whole day with us on the beach sun bathing (and sea bathing), running on the sand etc.? Should we bring any additional bulbs or heat pad for night? Thanks!

ive always heard the issue with meal worms is not fat content, its the higher level of chiten (Spelling) aka their exoskeleton being harder and raising the risk of impaction

    • @ColdBloodCreations
      @ColdBloodCreations  Před 3 lety +1

That is not true. The chitin is almost pure fiber, and actually aids in digestion. This is a rumor and it is not true. We feed mealworms regularly to all of our dragons, even babies, and they poop far more than they would if we didn't. Impaction is nowhere near as common as it is claimed or misdiagnosed to be.

I hear a lot about using substrate And not to use sand but I was wondering if you can use ceramic tile underneath and small stones and rocks for the bottom of the enclosure. I don't have a bearded dragon yet. at this point I am just doing research and trying to plan the enclosure.

I like your videos that are very helpful. I'm a first time bearded dragon owner and your videos help me to learn the right why to care for my bearded dragon. I'm a little skeptical because there is so much information out there that it is hard to know what is the best information out there. All I won't is to do the best I can for my bearded dragon. Thanks for your time and information on raising my bearded dragon.

Great video! Could you do one on BD brumation? Specifically, I'd like to see how to tell if they're sick or going into brumation, what time of year they may brumate, how (or if) they should be handled during brumation, if they need different/special care during that time, is there a difference in males and females as respects brumation, etc.

I absolutely love this channel I am so glad I found you two. This is by far the best channel for me to learn about my new bearded dragon! I have one question request which I hope shows up..
    - how to get my young dragon to eat vegetables. She doesn’t really eat from my hand and sometimes she’ll only eat veggies if I sneak one by her while she is basking with her mouth open. I leave it in the cage and she’ll ignore it until I need to give her protein.
Thanks again you two! Look forward to future videos!

Sometime you will have to let them fast for a few days (it won't hut 'em) and then offer ONLY veggies until they take it. Then only offer insects as an occasional snack and ONLY after they have eaten their veggies.

It's been years since I've had a bearded dragon and I'm having to do a lot of research and I'm really enjoying your videos. I bought a juvenile bearded dragon and was trying to make sure I got the right size tank and because it was already in a 10 gallon tank I got the same size as I was trying not to stress out the little thing too much and doing other researches saying that it's too big of a tank would freak it out I didn't want to do that. I am going to get a bigger tank and I was going to go with a 40 gallon but watch one of your videos where you said it would be good to get 110 gallon. My question I actually have is is a 40 gallon tank sufficient for a while or absolutely necessary to get one 100 to 110 because I'm not really sure what I would do with the tank that big in my house. Also I would like to know how often I should feed my baby dragon crickets or mealworms until it is older as he or she seems to really enjoy the veggies.

Hey guys we had got a baby bearded dragon from petsmart. It had only been 6 days. We spent so much time looking for him and so much $ on his habitat. My daughter found him. He had his mouth stuck open onto the big rock that came in the 40 gal set. It was so heartbreaking.. We love our babies. We had watched some of y'all videos to educate ourselves..

Ive learned so much from you guys on taking care of bearded dragons i just wanted to say thank you for the information, you guys inspired me to go out and get a dragon. I just had a few questions. So i live in michigan and i struggle to keep my room at 75 degrees during our winters would a heating pad for the enclosure help keep the heat up? During the winter my room drops to around 65-67 degrees. And i just want to be sure that my lil guy will be okay, my second question is about tank size ive seen a lot of people recommend 48''x24''x24'' enclosures i just wanted to know if my 48''x18''x18'' enclosure would be fine for the time being i plan on getting him into a 120 gallon enclosure by the end of the year i just need to make space for it. Than my third and final question is when trying to figure out what size insects to feed them how do i know when to size up for them?

Dubia roaches don't climb or fly ... dubias and superworms are my favorite feeder insects ... I can't explain it because I'm still researching it, it may turn out to be because it stimulates them ... but super worms energize my hedgehogs and dragon. If dubias are gut fed high calcium proper in a 24-48 hour window before fed to animal, they can have good calcium ratio. Dubias and SW fed constant high calcium become dehydrated, their nutrition and live cycles are disrupted dealing with high calcium not normal for them. Live black soldier fly larvae & butter worms are good ca:ph ratio.

Dubia roachea so do climb. I have witnessed it in our terrarium. The breeder I buy mine from has left his tank open and had them climb out. Also, he says the adult males can't fly but they can kinda flutter because they do have wings.

We feed out beardie Dubai roaches ( tong and hand feed)..I think that's how u spell em...and we give meal worms as a treat and same with crickets. We also feed bananas, kale, romaine (occasionally) and yellow squash (peeled) and our beardie is 3-ish Y/o. We have only had Lizzo for several weeks..hopefully we are doing it right

Cockroaches are in fact the cleanest insects. They look disgusting but they can't bite, theyre very very slow which is good for the dragon to unlock those natural instincts 😁 I love your content I've watched every video before getting my little girl
