HAY IN A DAY!!!
Today was a great day of getting our hay chopped, and bagged for sheep feed!
The weather cooperated, the machinery worked (well, all but Ethan's AC), and we filled a bag of feed in about 3.5 hours!

One of my favorite things to rewatch is how well you guys work as a team. My second favorite thing is I have discovered that if we rewatch your episodes, they are monetized!! I've been watching tons of older episodes just to help bring in funds, and this is my favorite CZcams show. I could rewatch some of these over and over ❤
Had an idea for your plastic (a small one) to repurpose. My Dad has been gardening this way since the late 70’s.
Where you want to garden, lay down plastic (black side up) on the ground and wait about 3 weeks to kill the weeds. You can till the soil, but it’s not necessary.
When ready, make X-shaped holes in plastic and tuck points under the sides to create a spot for the plant. You can use baby plants or start from seed.
The plastic will keep the weeds killed (maybe one or two around the plant) and moisture under the plastic and to the soil.
This is called black plastic gardening and it works so well without having to put in so much work. You can google this. I gave a speech on this in college and got an A!
We run a large Angus farm here in the states. Its nice to see what other farmers deal with. I have to say our family watches your channel regularly. My daughter really enjoys it. She is wanting her own sheep now!!!! Thanks for posting theres a 8 year old that wants to be like you!!!
My dad had 2K acres In Lake City and 600 head of registered black Angus out in providence.
The high pitched sound of the harvester is a comforting sound to me because my husband would be working late at night bringing in silage and I often fell asleep to this sound. He died at 56yrs old and I miss him.

It’s been 5 years now but you will always miss someone you were married to for over 34 years. Life goes on no matter if you want it to or not. Take care 👍

When I see you and your family working around large rotating equipment, and engaging PTO while standing in front of tractor tires, I’m reminded of just how dangerous farm work is. Be safe!
It is so good for non farmers to see and appreciate the hard work and danger farmers face. And they are totally at the mercy of the weather!
Yes... I would really like to see PTO guards in use everywhere farmers work within a yard of one. It's far less critical for something like the mower where no one is nearby while it's spinning. But with the haylege bagging, they are standing right next to it. All it takes is one stumble or distraction...

Your husband is laughing! I've seen a smile here and there, but don't remember a full blown laugh! I love how your family works together. Growing up we helped with planting and harvesting our family plots, as well as canning and freezing our harvest. You guys have a multi-million dollar farm operation. We only had a tiny bit in comparison, still it was so much fun and rewarding. I would be in heaven driving and operating your big equipment. Jealous in a good way! The sheep are the best.
Those machines make haying oh so much better ! No piling bales in the back of a truck on a hot sticky day ! Nice system ! ....and Sandi....you do NOT need to loose 10 lbs....if you did...you'd completely disappear !

I've got about 10 channels that I subscribe too but yours is one of the few I rarely miss! Too much fun! Fun following you around the farm no matter what you and your family are doing. Usually watch you on my TV - bigger screen - so you are truly BIGGER than life on most visits you share with us. :-) Saw you on RealAg with Shaun Haney. Enjoyed hearing the back story of your social media empire development! Everything I see from you tells me you would be terrific at direct marketing your lambs to consumers! That would enable you to put a bottom under your marketing price and improve your bottom line. After the Gong Show in the grocery stores with Covid, people will be much more interested too. If your garden venture rewards you well, adding produce to a box of meat would be an easy sell for both! Think about it. (In your spare time, of course!) Ha!
I envy that extendable conveyor on the bagger. We had a classic concrete stave silo and a Gehl blower (probably the FB87 model) and two of our forage wagons were Papec who loved augers for the front with no extension so you had to get right next to the blower. We had one Gehl wagon with rubber conveyor and you had to remember to park that further away. The short auger feed of the blower meant plugging was possible of a large slug went in - our wagons had only two beater bars and my father loved to pile them as high as physically possible.

Of all the farming videos I watch, yours is the only one where females are out running the tractors and performing so much physical labor. Farmer P is possibly trying to teach his daughters but otherwise it's only you. I love that about your family. If you lost another 10 pounds you'd be a stick.

BTW, anchor down plastic with dirt or clods of dirt around the perimeter and dirt here and there between plants, keeps soil underneath from getting air and drying out or plastic from blowing away.😊

Wow, now I know why Mark hasn’t had time to post recently! Lol. It was so sweet the way the tractor can hook up to the wagon, saves a lot of time! Will you ID the contents on just the one row you split between two kinds of grains or in the dead of winter will you just remember? I’d never be able to. You guys work so hard it’s amazing! I actually miss doing hay this year at my Aunt and Uncles farm. My kids have a blast being able to ride the tractors and being able to bring some to the goats and sheep to feed them. They just laugh and giggle when they tickle their hands while licking it up

First thing we saw when we pulled up to our Bed and Breakfast farm visit in New Zealand was a haystack size pile of dead lambs. I so much prefer your indoor system. They seem so content. I only wish I was wasn't 78 and could do as you do. I have always loved hard work. Take care, no more broken bones .

Hello Sandi. Love watching your channel. Have to smile at the fact you have done second cut. I’m from Edmonton and we have had sooo much rain that there is standing water in the fields and no way to get the first cut hay done ☹️ Would love to see the sun for more than 1 day. Keep up the great work.

That was a little bit scary when the ewu sat on you, you are so tiny, i was like on no ! Please don't get hurt! But you handled yourself awesomely!!! That was a big lamb ! And i enjoyed watching the hay being processed ! Kinda soothing!😊👍💕💕💕
The trouble is mature ewes are heavily. The worst problem is the ewe and Sandi were in the mummy and baby pen with no room to move and get purchase.

Gosh, I just love your vids and personality!!! My only suggestion (for today, lol) is that I hope you start taking better care of your skin...you are way too beautiful to grow old with sun shriveled and cancerous skin my dear!!!! Please wear sunscreen, hats, etc. I'm 64 and am having MORE skin cancer surgery on Wed. We live on a farm (cotton, corn) in central California and a beach house CA that I stay at most of the time now so I'm exposed to lots of sun...I didn't worry bout it in my 40's but now it's not fun...so please protect your skin...you truly are a gorgeous woman, inside and out!
My retired Aunts & Uncles spent more Time/$$ at dermatologists for themselves than all their teens for acne/pimples. Wishing you the best!

You do an excellent job filling your silage bags. When I filled a bag I would slightly apply the hand brake on the tractor operating the bagger. This help to put some pressure on the bag and resulted in nice straight uniform bags.
