    About Me
    “The world needs more makers.” ~ RoyerX
    Being from a family of creatives whose motto was to produce not to consume was etched into Kyle from a very early age and being educated at home gave him many opportunities to work hard at his own creative pursuits.
    At eighteen, Kyle graduated high school and two weeks later received his Journeyman Smith Stamp and a rare double win of the George Peck Award and Bill Moran Award, “the 18-year-old prodigy”, “the blazing bladesmith” was what BLADE Magazine labeled him. Following that victory in November, 2009 BLADE Magazine ran a special five page spread “That Young and That Good”, the article went on to say “His ability to masterfully execute new designs, processes and artistic damascus patterns is remarkable. In spite of his young age, his fit/finish and attention to detail is representative of some of todays most known and sought after makers.” He was one of two to achieve Mastersmith by the age of twenty. His knives and his skills are highly sought after worldwide.
    In the early years, if you weren’t at a knife show or a hammer-in, learning from the masters, information was hard to find, there was no online content and only a few books and videos, so it was a lot of trial and error in the knife shop. Kyle is passionate to teach makers his more than fourteen years of experience.
    “The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.” We hope we can inspire you on your maker’s journey.
    Thanks for watching
    Enjoy!

    three things I have learn from his course. (1) I'm so far away from being able to make my knife as perfect as his. (that is why I have the course.
    (2) It is possibly to make these quality Knives over time. (Hopefully before I turn 80, 13 years from now)
    (3) I have already improved on making some of my other knives on parts I had trouble with before.
    If you are serious about making museum quality knives to sell this is a must course. It will put you more on the fast track. Plus many things I already knew but not to the level he teaches.
    Thanks Kyle.

      @@KyleRoyerKnives It is called a knife but it is really art. This just like today's handmade katanas & other Japanese
      blades *"starting"* at $6,000 USD this blade can not be used. Using destroys the value - just as if you bought a
      $10,000 USD painting and put your finger through it by accident (like Steve Wynn did to one of his paintings in
      Las Vegas due to his poor eyesight).
      BUT I like that a video is made on your knives *KyleRoyerKnives,* they will be placed next to the *Aston Martin* in my
      book of wishes that will never be granted BUT they will be admired from afar.

      @@manufacturedfracture Oh, yes. Just about everyone makes these type of very expensive knife art, sword art, you name it that are for conversation and not using. NOT JUDGING just an observation.
      About the knife in question, *_The Hunter Knife._* Real hunter knives like the ones I seen/used in Alaska are around $35 USD & get nicked, scratched, & bloody.
      SO MY COMMENT IS
      "Thats not a knife, this is a knife," in other words saying something is a knife and making it prefect, the highest quality, and
      expensive is fine. But I prefer real art like paintings, rings, vases, etc. So just like Elvis Presley's *$65,000,* 1960 Gold Callillac covered in 40 coats of paint, called “diamond dust pearl,” that is made of crushed diamonds and fish scales. Which had 24-karat gold plate highlights and trim -
      I think I will stick to using real knives & regular cars and buy paintings for $100 USD or so dollars and be happier.

My fathers bone handle is more of a rustic design of course, but has the same shape and size. It took me 20 or more years just to find a modern knife with a similar blade and handle shape. The Browning model 751. Your knife is so beautiful I hope it’s never used, but the blade and handle shape you’ve built into your hunter ergonomically lend themselves perfectly to processing an animal. Wonderful! Such a beautiful knife and fantastic way to use Mammoth Ivory Scales that I had not seen before. I have a few Mammoth Ivory Scales that were carved for me quite a few years back by a friend of mine in Bali. They are matched pairs of inner Ivory that have been carved in 3D so you can see through the Ivory and require a hollow handle. I'm trying to save as much of the Ivory as I can in my first design for making a full tang Bowie from a Damascus Billet I have. I will get the Billet cut by a friend who has Laser, Plasma and CNC cutters. My problem is I will have to make a 2.5 mm spacer to go between the Scales to fill the gap which is the thickness of the knife blade and then carve it to match the existing shapes and textures. I'm sure I can manage that but getting a small thin 2.5 mm piece of inner Mammoth Ivory or another Bone is becoming a problem as I am in Phuket Thailand. Any ideas would be appreciated, I could send you a picture if you have Facebook or similar. Thanks for another great video, I can't stop watching them. Regards Barry Rowe.

    I don't have much time in my life due to health reasons. Before I die I hope to have my childhood drawn knife made to such detail as you make your blades. And hand it down to my children.

    The yachting channels I watch use that same colloidal silica and they say never to use it without breathing filter on. Apparently it can be quite nasty. I too burnt my eyes out with the beauty of this knife.....it was worth it.

    • @pr0faker
      @pr0faker Před 4 lety

      its most likely not something you wanna breathe in indeed, but with the tiny amount he puts in its probably not that bad. If you make large quantities for boats etc yeah you dont wanna do that without a good breathing filter on.

    • @townsville69
      @townsville69 Před 4 lety

      @@pr0faker A tiny bit over long exposure time = big problems. Also the "it's just a lil bit" excuse is what every old school tradie I've ever worked with uses. It's just a lil bit of roundup, It's just a lil bit of welding with no mask, it's just a lil bit of (insert dangerous favorite work environment/substance here) it won't hurt me. Now the same guys I used to work with as a kid are blind/deaf/cancer or dead. And here is me that took a ribbing for wearing all my PPE with zero work related problems. Now all I gotta work out is my women problems. But that's a subject for another time :)

      @pr0faker Před 4 lety +1

      @@townsville69 dont get me wrong, I do agree that its better to be save than sorry and use the right protection. Though it seems to me he doesnt make 10 knives a week with that stuff is what I mean. But it would be better to show usage of this stuff with the proper protection indeed.
