I agree the feature that's most interesting is the accessory control panel for switches. I bought the Halo9 for the big touch screen but also for the accessory switches to install in my 1998.5 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins and it does fit extremely well (postioning to be below the air vents was perfect and it doesn't extend out too far for a automatic, don't know how a manual shift would work) but come to find out the KCA-001 will not function without the Maestro datalink box installed too! The 98 Dodge doesn't have that capability so it won't work. Very disappointed and you don't find this information out until you read the installation instructions. Doesn't make much sense since the switch function could be made separate from the Maestro datalink side of things. Alpine you need to make this functional if possible with a firmware update!! If anyone is looking to buy this setup make sure your vehicle is compatible with the Maestro product or it won't work.
EDIT: I was wrong. See post below.
You can load a generic universal firmware on the Maestro RR as far as I know, for cases like yours.
I come to find out I was wrong on the ability to get the KAC-001 to work w/o a Maestro module. The accessory switch screen will work but you must wire any relays exactly as shown in the instructions (it is a very unconventional wiring). And then for every switch you need to go into edit and configure the switch to one of 3 settings pulse, momentarily, or latch. Latch works with most configuration. I’m very happy not to drill holes in my dash anymore. Hope this helps and clarifys mu earlier post.
I have not decided if I want this for my ram or the dmx1057xr
You need to show the backside of the screen. How does it look from the back since the screen sticks out?
How did you get this to fit in your ram
I have a 2012 Toyota Tundra with this head unit. Can I use the right maestro cable to make my guidelines active?
Yes you can
What’s the difference between the ch3 and the ch3x
No difference, just different part number, The CH3X is discontinued now.
What does the space look like behind the unit? I have an 8.4 screen so I’m trying to see if that whole thing will be filled up.
The space can be filled with a pocket (like a Metra brand universal single DIN pocket made of plastic), OR, if you don't want to bother, you could leave the area behind the floating screen empty (open), aa the screen hides the opening. Obviously leaving it open is unfinished and not as "professional", so the pocket method OR maybe some ABS plastic to fill the opening is the best route.

How did you get the bezal over the screen?
Hi, I want to install this on my 16 1500 Ram, do you know if there's a lot of cutting required to install this unit?
The only Cuting is a bar behind the OEM head unit
very informative video. good job Lockdown Security.
Thank you for the great feedback, we really appreciate it!
I currently have a 18 Ram with the factory 5.0 uconnect with the same dash. I was looking into the lower end 259 model, but keep getting contradicting information on a dash kit that will allow this stereo to fit. Would you mind sharing what kit you used to fit the radio into the dash?
We used a Metra kit, but their site is not up right now, www.metraonline.com, check it tomorrow for fitment info
@@LockdownSecurity Thank you! Did you get the single din or double din kit?
@@zharvard04 im also wondering on what kit to use. Did you make the install yet?
Ballpark how much does install cost run on these for a 2009 Ram 1500?

What Din did you use?
My heated and coooled seats are controlled from current radio would I still have this function with this radio?

To retain the oem back up camera do I need the RR as well or is the ch3 alone enough to keep the oem back up camera functioning
You need a rr for climate control of you had the 8.4 the OEM camera you can probably just plug in the back of the head unit
can we do halo 11
Does the car setting function show unconnected settings or OEM settings like doors, lights, etc ? Also does Alpine halo systems show car settings with canbus or idatalink? I have a Jeep Compass sport with a 5inch screen so keen to upgrade but want to retain OEM Settings or vehicle settings. Pls advise
The ILX-F309 is iDatalink Maestro compatible, meaning you can use a Maestro module (such as ADS-MRR or ADS-MRR2) to retain the CAN-BUS vehicle features.
@@LockdownSecurity thanks! Is ILX F309 E is also compatible with maestro ?
@@responsecreative Not that I know of, that looks like an Asia market model, where there is no Maestro support specifically. I do not think the ILX-F309E has the Maestro inputs on the back to be honest.
Does this have a quick disconnect for when you park and leave the vehicle? If not, this thing is begging to be stolen.
No it does not, the screen is permanently mounted/secured
Have you added any aftermarket cameras?
Yes we have added aftermarket cameras, the Alpine has a rear camera input by default, but you can use it with a switcher to add more, Alpine also makes a proprietary switcher where you can add up to 4 cameras as well (it is overpriced though, the Alpine switcher).
Can we added a second monitor for passengers in the back?
Yes you can
What Metra kit do i have to use for my RAM 1500 2018? the single DIN or Double DIN?
Standard 1-DIN chassis designed to fit aftermarket ISO Din dash kits for various vehicle applications

I have the camera in my rear view mirror, will I still be able to see it there
Yes you will still be able to see it there, you can also have it show in the Alpine screen too
Great Video! I could really use your help! I installed a KENWOOD DMX7705S in my 2018 ram 1500. I did the maestro rr and all of the other accessories in this video but i can not figure out how to connect to the obd to get the tire pressure/ engine light/ gauges features to work on the radio. Do you know how to do it? I was told to connect the red/brown wire to the CANH and the yellow/brown to the CANL but i cant even find those wires and I searched for a long time. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yes it is possible to install in the base Mazda3, using the Metra 99.7526B dash kit

Yes it is possible
Hate it doesn’t sit flush
Alright, truck horn button it is.
Pretty sure you can't use climate controls when you have manual control knobs 🤔
I wondering the same thing. My Tradesman has those manual climate control knobs.
