Costa Adeje is a town and municipality in the southwestern part of the island of Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands, and part of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain.
Playa del Duque is a premium beach on Costa Adeje in southern Tenerife. This whole area is a high-quality, exclusive resort; the essence of chic. And the beach is just as fantastic! Walk along the soft golden sand, feel it between your toes… take a dip in the warm, crystal clear waters.
Playa del Duque is made for beach lovers, people who like to relax, people who love the finer things in life. A place this good deserves to fly the Blue Flag with pride. The beach is popular with holidaymakers, particularly those who enjoy a calm, classy environment.
The charming fishing village of La Caleta is located just a stone's throw away from one of the busiest holiday areas on the island and a must visit if you are staying in the south of Tenerife. People who are lucky enough to know about this gem, tend to come here and enjoy the best seafood restaurants on the island or to take a dip into the amazingly clear, turquoise-coloured waters.
La Caleta is situated on the southwest coast of Tenerife, near popular holiday destination Adeje Costa. It takes about an hour to walk to La Caleta from there, you can also reach the village by car or local bus, from your holiday rental in Los Cristianos or villa in Playa de las Americas.
During the last few decades, La Caleta has transformed into a fantastic hotspot for culinary delights in Tenerife. The food-obsessed come here to enjoy some of the best seafood of the island, knock back some local wines and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.
There are no sandy beaches in La Caleta. The shoreline is rocky, but you can find plenty of stairs, making access to the sea easier. The clarity of the sparkling turquoise waters will invite you to take a dip.
You can find some breathtaking beaches behind the mountains on the right-hand side of La Caleta. You will have to climb down to reach them and they are not accessible by road. The paths are rough and steep in places, so remember to bring good shoes, some water and snacks with you.
The first beach you will find is Playa Los Morteros - 25 years ago only a few people on the island knew this place even existed. Morteros is not a sandy beach either, instead, it is a rocky cove where you will find many places where to jump into the clear blue sea. There is also a small hippie community living on the beach, although camping is not permitted here.
After Playa de Los Morteros you will come to Playa Diego Hernandez, but you will have to go down the steep, rocky path to reach it. Playa Diego Hernandez has been regularly voted as one of the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife.
Diego Hernandez is approximately 80 metres long with powdery white sand. The atmosphere is relaxed, many naturists come here to enjoy the peace and get that all-over tan.
It is recommended to visit Playa Diego Hernandez during low tide when there is plenty of space for your towel. If it is high tide, you can enjoy the warm Canarian sun on the cliffs with a picnic.
Diego Hernandez is located next to Golf Costa Adeje. You can also walk here from the lovely village of El Puertito - one of the nicest villages in the south of Tenerife.

Wonto derful video of a fantastic area. I have stayed in this area for about the last 15 years and know it like the back of my hand. The night life in the summer is also very nice for a short or long stroll along the sea front. The Vlog was during the day and the area is also just as wonderful late into the summer evening's. You can walk from as far as you like right up to Los Cristanious. The whole promenade is well light up in the evenings an is wonderful to walk in the cool sunset evenings. This video gives a small insight in to such a beautiful area of Tenerife.
It is horses for courses in Tenerife as many will know, if you want the hustle and bustle of Los Americas that's fine...most head for this area which is fine, we also LA however over the years we have found the Costan Adeje area a more relaxing area all round, we then tend to pop into Los A and other places to do shopping and things and then back out again we find this is the best of both worlds.

Ventured this way about 6 weeks ago and what a contrast to the bottom end of the resort. Travelling again this Wednesday to stay at Iberostar Grand El Mirador for my Birthday. Classy and sophisticated OK my hotel is about 3x the price but life is about experiences. Thanks for Vlog

Thanks for doing this walk , we did it in reverse. But got the bus from near the Catalonia Ore Negro . 1.5 euro each. We then speng over 4 hrs walking back. Stopped for Lunch in the First and Last . Then arrived at the Calypso Bar at 3pm. Just in time for the afternoon entertaiment.
2 buckets each of beers later , we headed back to the hotel. Needless to say we missed evening meal that night. Thanks for all the great Tenerife blogs.

Great vid. This is my Tenerife ‘manor’, walked this whole stretch so many times... plus the scrubland walk over to where I stay in Playa Paraiso from La Caleta. (which is a mighty feat at night after a few jars at the Elvis bar in Adeje I can tell you!). Love the music too... this vid makes me happy... well done you! Heading back next week.. this is getting me in the mood!!

Really nice to see this side of the south of Tenerife. I lived in Los Cristianos with my family 4 years ago for 1 year. I took my bike to these parts of the south and its nice to see them again! Another great vlog,we have friends that like to stay in LA Caleta and it looks so nice and peaceful so we must visit there one day,but I must admit I like the hustle and bustle of Las Americas where we stay.

Hi Just back from 3 weeks in Tenerifie, I said I would walk from San Eugenio Centre, We cheated, took the bus to La Caleta and walked back, some great views of the big hotels and the resorts to the high land, plenty places to stop for a seat and refresher and enjoy the view of the resorts all the way back to the SAN Eugenio Centre, very enjoyable. Back again in May next year.😎😎😎🍺🍺
LA Caleta is one of my favourite places. Such a contrast to Las Americas.

Used to do the same walk more or less ever morning recognised most of the places you pointed out although my fav bar for breakfast was “ Goodfellas “. Absolutely love Tenerife can’t wait until next year to go back.

Place itself was well looked after. The food was good but to be honest we preferred to eat out most of the time.
Going back in March and again in July but thinking of staying at Parque Santiago 6 this time as they have bungalows along the beech road about half mile from McDonald’s at Los cristianos !!!

Thank you for this video. We are in the process of planning our first stay in Tenerife. Been there on a ship a couple of times but not to stay. I was wondering when this video was shot? We're going to try to make it there from Mid February to the beginning of May. It looked quite warm when you shot this. Warmer is better as we're from just south of the Canadian border in very northern New England. Cheers!

Hiya , like yourself have visited Tenerife many times , lucky to have family with an apartment in Las Americas. have been told that we must visit La Caleta , on the day of our long walk the weather took a turn for the worse so only got as far as Playa del Duque . Hope to return next summer and from watching your video now know what weve been missing. Think I might try in the evening , that would look pretty special . But do love being in the heart of Las Americas, do you turn left or do you turn right , the choice is yours . Just love TENERIFE!!!!!!

Thanks for this vid. I've been along that way before but didn't venture too far. I will definitely explore more if I return to tenerife. Yep as you said totally different from Las americas in my opinion that area is pretty much a dump and gets very annoying getting offered coke, weed, sunglasses and watches every 2 minutes. I've always stayed in Adeje because of this. I'm looking forward to your next vid. Keep up the good work. 👍

Pisces Restaurant in La Caleta that you past is meant to be really nice it was recommended to me by a friend who used to live out there, but not made it there myself yet. Maybe next year i will :-)

I like all the Macmasters videos and i love tenerife... i am not saying Tenerife is boring...just this particular video. As for being on benefits..never been on them in my life. I have a six bedroomed house a brand new car and plenty in the bank bonnie lad and if i bump into Mallorca 13 i will piss myself laughing at the oddball.
