    Really insightful video, good to see folks able to get a balanced setup between front and rear suspension on the Diverge STR. One consideration, thinking back to the early days of dual suspension MTBs and their adoption. A lot of XC racers thought dual sus bikes *felt* slower and more sluggish as compared to hardtails. However, after some tech testing, it was found that dual sus bikes often were a bit faster on the same timed courses than hardtail bikes. The bike industry as a whole often has done a poor job at real world testing as compared to other wheeled sports like moto and automotive. I'd imagine there will be similar testing, with accelerometers, power meters, GPS, etc., with accurate and positive findings for the gravel bike category too. That said, depending on the course, a bike like the Diverge STR, which might feel sluggish and slow, might very well be faster than say a bike like the Crux. Food for thought....

    • @bicyclestation
      @bicyclestation  Před 5 měsíci +1

      The str doesn’t have suspended wheels tho. It rolls over the ground the same as the crux. Just way slower.

    • @xaviermelendez2639
      @xaviermelendez2639 Před 5 měsíci

      @@bicyclestation yeah, completely understood. I’m just trying to call out a couple of considerations. 1. Feel is not the same as measured results. 2. Suspension, whether it’s suspending the bike or the rider may and very likely could, (see MTB testing results) be faster on certain courses. Also, to your point, since you have a back injury, it sounds like the simple fact you can ride the Diverge STR for longer makes that bike a better option for you to race on. My comment is not directed at you per se, so much as a general consideration for the industry and also consumers. As a whole, the bike industry has done a poor job at R&D, measuring real world capabilities and results for new technology adoption, especially when looking at some of this technology and seeing that it’s been used for decades in other forms of transportation with great success.

    • @bicyclestation
      @bicyclestation  Před 5 měsíci

      Oh no I 100% agree with you. I think a mtb might be faster then the str because the wheels and rider are suspended.

    Hello, I have an s works diverge, I will do the same update, do you recommend installing preload washers or not installing any?
    Thanks in advance

    Did you go to a zero degree setback seat post? I did for fit. Did you swap to a softer seat post mast or whatever they call it?

    • @bicyclestation
      @bicyclestation  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yea I usually use a zero offset. Definitely not using the softer one. Its to flexible with the stiffer one haha.

    This is awesome. I have a roubaix with a 1.5 I want to upgrade and looks like its something I can do myself. Are there any tools you would recommend to make it easier?

    • @bicyclestation
      @bicyclestation  Před měsícem +1

      It’s pretty simple if you don’t want to add volume spacers to be honest. Just a set of Allen keys. But id definitely recommend watching some tutorials

    Is it possible to upgrade future shock 1.5 to 3.3??

    Great Video
    If I get the new Paris Roubaix Expert. SL8, it comes with future shock 3.2 a brand new bike 6500.
    It's sort of sad that they don't give you an option to upgrade during purchase to save on four hundred dollars extra for 3.3 & have no use for 3.2 after upgrading...

    • @bicyclestation
      @bicyclestation  Před 2 měsíci

      I think they do. It’s part of the sworks and pro trim level. Think about the logistics involved with asking every customer for that bike if they want the future Shox upgrade. It would cost more money than 400$ to do the swap before the bike was shipped out so they just offer it for 400$ as an upgrade aftermarket.

      Specialize Will Ship Expert SL8 To Local Bike Store in Box... LBS will assemble...
      I'm sure LBS will not charge to swap 3.2 to 3.3...
      I suspect LBS will give me 3.3 at price they pay since they get lots of $$$ from other items I buy there & tuneups, etc...
      Thanks...

      @bicyclestation  Před 2 měsíci

      Interestingly is 3.2 cost $550, $150 more than 3.3...
      Maybe LBS will give me $150 for it & 3.3 at their cost / price...
      I don't think there's lots of Riders on Roubaixs... I've Love Roubaix...
      I could be wrong, But I don't think there's a big market for Roubaix & definitely not a future shock 3.2 unless it's to replace another 3 2...
      I've never met anyone riding a Roubaix other than myself...

      We did. That’s why I made a point to complain about it. The new one doesn’t rattle so it’s fixed now but that 2.0 that came with the bike definitely had an issue.

    Errrr… How do you the hight ? You cant simply add a ring or flip the stem… I am very sensitive about the hight and length of the stem… 🤔

    • @ifitrollsrideit530
      @ifitrollsrideit530 Před měsícem

      Yes you can. On the Roubaix you can add/remove spacers below the boot and change between the two duck covers to adjust height.
      I swapped out the hover bar for a set of aero Zipps and slammed the rest. The shock sags into the suspension a little when you put weight on it by design to improve road tracking. It's now my favourite bike of all time.
