Writing a song and Toplining a track can be two different ballgames. In this video, we look at an 8 step process on how to topline any song. - Hudba

Top lining to an arrangement/track has been a norm in hip hop, r&b and pop music for years. It’s actually the most popular way of working. Track first is a standard. Even though song first is very efficient too. I feel it’s good for a producer to know how to work both ways. Be versatile and open for change.

when you said to do all that for a title i was like that is so dumb, but i had already written all the words out because i was pausing the video everystep, then i look at my words for just a few seconds and found an INSANE TITLE AHAHAAHAHAH. the irony.

There's only 1 thing I disagree with. You said that if someone else can sing it better than yourself, then make them sing it... In my experience, I had so many songs laying on the shelf only because I was waiting for my friend or whoever it was, to come in and sing it. So in my experience, if you have someone reliable, then you're right, but if not, then start training your vocals everyday. There's plenty of really good vocal coaches on CZcams that can teach it to you, and if you're consistent, then you don't need nobody!

When I play a progression on the piano I tend to create a melody that falls exactly on the rhtym of my prgoression. Is there any excersise to get that independ from each other

Once I get my Topline... how do you guys transcribe it into a Music Sheet in order to Register my song. I have tried to use melodyne, newtone and others to put my voice into MIDI and then from there transform the MIDI into a music sheet, but melodyne and newtone does not translate my voice sound exactly into MIDI.... so how do you guys do? im confused. xx thanks xx
Hey Miguel, I would recommend manually transcribing using sibelius. Yes it takes longer at first, but once you learn the software you can actually get a spot on transcription in very little time.
Probably not what you wanted to hear, but that's what I'd recommend.
