  • In this video we take a flip through the recent release of You Are The Hero. This is a detail history book about the birth and growth of the Fighting Fantasy book series. It shares about how Jackson and Livingstone have been an important part of the hobby today and how they still continue to be part of the fandom around the FF books.

This made me remember that I bought a collection of the first twenty Fighting Fantasy many years ago, only to store them in a box; I thank you for that.
Great stuff, Mike! I'm now going to sit back and enjoy your last videos!

That is awesome that you still have them. They are just fun to kickback and enjoy. Not too serious and just a lot of fun. Have a great week.

this is where the basic fantasy role-playing game came from right

No I think it came more from early versions of Dungeon and Dragons. The author of Basic Fantasy might have been influenced by these game books but I never heard anything linking these together.

@@solitaryrpg you're right! i was thinking of the advanced fighting fantasy rpg. "Advanced Fighting Fantasy (AFF) is a British roleplaying game based on the Fighting Fantasy and Sorcery! gamebooks, first published in 1989. Just as the gamebooks, AFF is set in the world of Titan. A second edition of AFF was published in 2011."

@@ekurisona663 Yes AFF is based on the books. I have it on PDF but might spend the money to pick up the physical copy of the deluxe rule book.
